I had a contract with Worldcom from Feb. 2000 to Feb. 2001. I was sent a letter in Feb. 2001 stating that if I didn't call or send a written statement, my account would automatically be renewed. I called and spoke to a woman who tried to persuade me to stay with MCI. I had to take the time to explain to her that I was not satisfied with the service for the money I was paying. She finally backed down, and told me that my account had been closed. I asked her when I would be receiving my next bill because I hadn't seen one in a few months. The only answer she could give me was soon, that they were changing their billing system.

I receieved a bill nearly 4 months later for service through May 2001. Not only was I being charged for three months of service after I called to cancel, it had been added to the bill I had been waiting for from the remaining months of my contract. I'm talking 5 months of billing sent in one bill.

I tried calling to tell them they had made a mistake, but all I could get was a recording telling me that they were experiencing a high volume of calls and to try back at a later time. I kept trying to call MCI but all I got was hold times of up to an hour each time I called. I sent letters explaining my situation, and demanding they resolve but I got no response.

After receiving a letter from a collection agency demanding payment of $480 which was an accumulation of 9 months of service, I became outraged. I called MCI and got the most disgusting and rude man I've ever encountered. While I tried to explain my situation, he yawned and chewed food into my ear. I was so digusted by his manners, or lack of that is.

He told me that according to his computer, my account was canceled in November, not February, and that I was responsible for the balance due through November. I told him he was wrong, that I never called in Novemeber. He told me again that his computer said I called in November. I told him once again that he was wrong, and he proceeded to put me on hold. After holding for 10 minutes, my call was disconnected.

One month after being told by that disgusting man that my account was closed, I recieved 2 more bills, for another 2 months of service. The bill now totaled $561. Even after he told me it was closed, I recieved more bills. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and the FCC. Today, I made copies of every bill sent to me from February 2001 to November 2001 including the bills the collection agency has sent me, with a letter demanding a resolution.

I don't expect any resolvement to come from this because it is obvious I am dealing with incompetent people. I mean the amount they say I owe, and the amount the collection agency says I owe don't even match up. I have proof that I haven't used my phone at all since February 2001. I have recruited my family lawyer to assist me in fighting MCI off. I have been harassed, and I refuse to lie down.

Everyone who has been a victim of MCI should rally together to get their lives back. These people are commiting consumer fraud and that's a crime.
