I have recently left MEGA/UGA/NASE after just having been promoted to a DSL (District Sales Leader). I only wish I had seen all this posted here on RipOffReport before accepting a job offer from these guys.

They prey on anyone who will accept a position and promise your thousands of dollars in stock (which you won't see for 10 years). Every week I would go into the meeting and see new faces and the old ones would be gone. Our Regional & District Sales Leaders always had a good reason why these agents left but never told the truth. I personally went through about $10,000 of my personal money trying to get this business to work for me. I even started thinking something was wrong with me! Now I know better.

I left and have started my own Insurance Brokerage and have several ex-MEGA Agents now working with me and we are all making much better money that when with MEGA.

Since having left "that" company, I have had my old DSL harass me, my clients, my agents, family and friends with emails actually degrading myself, my agents and saying that the companies I now represent are worst off than "that" company. I have had to resort to sending the Divisional Sales Manager a DEMAND LETTER to get this lady (who ain't no lady!) from sending these hateful, disrepectful emails out.

This is a very un-professional company who is not interested in the insurance industry - only interested in making a sale.

I was also a victim of MEGA in that they denied $26,000 worth of hospital/doctor/surgery bills. After I spent several hours on the phone with them they finally agreed that they had made an error and would honor the claims BUT I HAD TO HAVE THE DOCTORS & HOSPITAL RE-SUBMIT ALL THE BILLS. Well, by now I was getting letters from everyone telling me that I was responsible for the bills that my insurance company had declined. WHAT A MESS!!!!

My advise: do not accept any job offer from this company and do not purchase any insurance from this company. If you do it will be your worst nightmare!

Fraud litigation against Mega

AUTHOR: Barry - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 12, 2010

I am an attorney in Virginia and have an active fraud case against Mega. The lawsuit alleges that Mega fraudulently induced my clients into buying the policy by misrepresenting the terms of coverage.  I am interested in interviewin ex-employees, preferable agents, about the marketing/sales training they received from Mega. Please contact me at (((Redacted))), ext. 313 to discuss.  Barry M

Ex- employee speaks up

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 20, 2007

I was one of those new trainee's. My DSl got rid of me on the second day of trainning because I was being 110%. I was thinking and digesting everything they said and took notes. I was told that I did not need to sell Maternity care or Preventive care on the policies as the maternity was covered under the standard plan but if it made the member feel better I could sell it to them and that preventive care was one of those cost that was better to pay up front. I used to work for Blue Cross as a customer service rep and I always felt that that was held against me. I am glad I do not work for them.

The Truth Shall Be Heard

AUTHOR: Wlstone - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 12, 2007

THE PRACTICES OF HEALTH MARKETS, MEGA AND MID WEST NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES, UGA AND CORNERSTONE MARKETING ARM, AND THEIR OTHER MARKETING ARM 'THE ALLIANCE FOR AFFORDABLE SERVICES:

The facts, witnesses, and evidence are now in the hands of attorneys and members of Congress. Here is an email I received:

[Gentlemen,
I have told each of you that you may be called upon to relate your experiences, your training, etc., with government regulators or legislators. Apparently, Senator Ted Kennedy is chairing a Senate subcommittee that is investigating the practices of health insurance companies in the individual market. Senator Kennedy's committee staff has contacted me about the HealthMarkets fraudulent marketing scheme.

I have given your telephone numbers to sub-committee staff members Nick Bath and Sandra Gallardo. Either may contact you to confirm what I have told them about what you were trained to tell prospective customers (as opposed to the truth!).]

When ex-agents use the term 'brain washed', they are being truthful about the training and manipulations taught to brand new licensed agents entering into the field of insurance for the first time. Every agent wants to believe they are offering the best. New agents of UGA and Cornerstone are trained to believe in the systems, products, and chalk board examples given by management of Health Markets. Notice I said, chalk board, things that can be erased. Things that hold no proof of the real interpretation of policies written to deceive the average American of the kind of coverage they are purchasing. It is time to expose these companies, their practices, their strategies, their Mega profits, and how the 'contracts', or 'policies', really read.

To Cornerstone and UGA, how many of you really read through a real policy? I'm not talking about the sales brochure or your training material. I'm talking about the policy that is delivered by mail to your client!

Here you have two major problems: The corporation Health Markets allows their management training team to teach new and unknowing agents how to sell the product; but not train on all aspects of the product. The second problem lies in the difficult-to-read contracts loaded with marketing gimmicks, that even some attorneys do not understand.

Self-Employed?

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 30, 2007

I remember being constantly told at UGA that I was self-employed and running my business. If I'm self-employed, why can't I represent any company I want? Oh because they give me 5 year old B leads? Lol. Because they put me in a stock program then know 99.99% of everyone they hire won't realize? 10 years to vest? What a joke.

The problem is it takes either a lot of money or a lot of cold calling to generate business for yourself - and if you're willing or able to do that then don't take UGA crappy 10% commissions with a 6 month advance - hook up with real companies offering 25% with a full year advance.

Oh so you can become a district manager and make overrides? Well you can also become a general agent, except you can get that contract from day 1! You can hire and train agents from all 50 states and also make overrides - 10% overrides with no expenses. We don't have to run $250 a month ads on Monster to lure newbies into a company no one's heard of.

Yes, I remember all the BS that I'd fail after I left. I made more in a week now then my division manager makes in a month with no expenses.

Listen, let's lay out the truth. After running for over 20 years this company is still a bunch of nobod's. No one's every heard of "Mega Life" or the NASE. 20 years later UGA reps are still nailing cardboard to phone poles to get business. It can't get sadder than that.
