I have been a Macy's charge customer for more than 12 years in excellent standing. I received a Premier Visa account with a 10,000.00 which I used. A few months after using the card my limit was decreased to 1,000.00 although my balance was more. When I called to inquire they stated there was an error and the representative was extremely rude.

Approximately 1 year later my account was closed with out an explanation. My payments are on time and the amount paid is always more than the required payment when inquiring about the company's action the representatives are rude and condesending.

My revolving charge at Macy's has not been affected but it is very offensive when a company takes action but has no responsibility to the consumer for decisions and no accountability for communication with the consumer.

First of all there is no excuse for being spoken to in a rude manner.
However, when you accept the visa card, and you make charges with it, you also accept the terms that go with that. One of the terms is that they have the right to check your CBR. If you have derogitory credit with other creditors, they can lower your limit. Or close the account, with no explaination required. However, the company does train their employees to give the reason if the custom calls in inquiring about it. If you're not making progress with the representatives, I would suggest calling in... giving them your account number.. then demands to speak to a supervisor.
