Have been seeing these ads for years and finally decided to make the purchase. Should NOT have done that. Although the device does not have to be plugged into your computer to work, YOU MUST HAVE internet access for it to work. SO the advertisements stating no computer required is false on so many levels.
THEY ARE FALSELY ADVERTISING THIS DEVICE DOES NOT NEED A COMPUTER.
First, in order to activate the device, you have to insert into a USB plug on your computer, then if you want to register and set up your VM and/or request a new phone number, you have to unplug it from your modem and bring it to the computer, insert, etc.
So when this device is plugged into your modem and the modem is tucked away behind furniture, yep, you've got to schlepp it out from behind everything. It's just a pain in the tush.
It's cheaply made and don't think it's going to hold up to plugging in and out. I "installed" mine last night only to learn I had to uninstall it to get the phone number and activate the feature. There's no telephone number to call to speak to someone only a live chat and the return address is a PO BOX. Charged this to my credit card so should be safe in getting my money back but I'm still out $10 in return postage fees that I won't see. So for everyone who buys this and returns, they've essentiall made $8.00 (discounting the $2.00 actual return postage).
The only positive is I was able to make a telephone call using the VOIP technology that this device is fashioned for.
