*Apply for a Sales Rep Job with your eyes wide open*
The Recruiter saw my rez' on TexasWorkforce. -you know the rest - HE CALLED ME ! Got along great on the phone interview! Went in for the interview, hired on the spot! He said there was a "Draw against commission, until I got my 'pipeline' up and running, with residuals".
I asked, what's the 'draw' (to keep a family paying their bills while learning a new industry) he said: "1,000 dollars" - I asked how, monthly or - - he cut me off, said "bi-weekly". He said this to 3 other folks in our class, over the phone and in person, like me.
-But he said: "You have to pass daily written tests with an average of 80% or better to be part of our company... (oh Lordy, give me some extra brain cells on this one, my family's depended on me).
High Hopes. Passed! Thursday morning all present waiting to talk to customers, we all passed- well 4 of 10, originally. Trainer never showed...
9:25am - Sales Mgr shows, apologizes for the lack of training for sales computers, tries his best. Says normally: "since this is a 100% commission basis sales environment..."
WHOA - WHOA - -! ! One guy said, "none of us would be here if we knew the truth". We take a break for the Sales Mgr & HR to get a story straight... lol - the crew votes to see this thru...
Cool, cool -- I can deal. But on the last two days (Thurs & Fri) that we were suppose to call 3 yr old non-customers that didn't want anything to do with us in the first place - get them to fax over their Merchant Statements for Credit Card activity, under the Durbin Act.... We don't get new updated merchant statements from them, not enough (10 each) - Sales gimmick.
Friday, We were "let go" - they NEVER had us fill out a W-2 or W-4 -whatever- never took an ID or SSN Card- we never existed. Don't work for them without your eyes wide open. A week's worth of our lives, for nothing, just free coffee.
All three of us looked incredulously at each other when the Sales Mgr spilled the beans, and my (new friends) all walked out together when the H.R. Director oversaw our dismissal.
Oh, the H.R. Director did tell the class there is a "draw against commission program" if you are hired, we asked, "what's the draw?".
-She said: "minimum wage, but we deduct it against your check"...
*Post Script* Work for McDonalds, Schlotzskys, Chick-Fil A, - - anyone, before these 3 companies.
