I visited with Gaye DeRusso and saw the poorly trained horses she advertises at Majestic Rider. The same horses on her website were advertised on the internet months before for $1000 dollars. She was asking 5K plus for them. The horses were boarded (she doesn't even have her own stable) and in poor shape. She knew very little about their background and very little about gaited horses in general. When I rode one of her "great horses" it took off on me.
The advertisement of her horses say that they are trail experienced. How can that be when you can't even ride them in the arena? I was scarred that this horse would hurt me after he took off. This was the "beginner horse" according to Gaye. Clearly she has no idea what a beginner horse was. After getting back on and trusting her (foolishly) The horses trotted off and would not listen to the bit. She claimed that he could perform a running walk if I sat back, collected him, clucked... I thought she was selling naturally gaited horses? I could not get this "beginner horse" to gait. I am not a pro rider but I have been riding for over 15 years.
Majestic Rider is a Rip Off. She misrepresents her horses. The website is a sham and cover up for a lowely so called "trainer" with two to three horses that need allot of work. She buys horses dirt cheap in TN and KY and then advertises them as having lots of training on the. This is clearly not the case. Don't be fooled by her website she is a horse trader with poorly trained horses.
Don't waste your time or money with her rescue horses that she claims to "know".

Search TipsGaye uses principles taught by some of the most well known clinicians in the business; Clinton Anderson, Chris Cox, Parelli as well as some of the gaited clinicians Anita Howe, Lonnie Kuehn, and Larry Whitesell. She is constantly buying books, videos, attending clinics, all in her quest to expand on over 30 years of experience in a variety of equestrian fields. Natural horsemanship is a method of training without using harsh methods that were used in years past. It is based on relating and
understanding the style of the horse. Having gone to clinics with some of the well known clinicians previously mentioned, I can attest that Gaye does have the experience and is very well respected in her field.
Many trainers lease space at large barns, this doesn't detract from their skills as a trainer. The definition of a horse trader is someone who buys and sells horses, it is not always a negative connotation. If someone buys a horse for $1000.00 and puts in several months to a couple of years on training, it is reasonable to sell the horse for more thanwhat it was bought for.
Having seen many 'experienced riders' try to ride a Gaited Horse, I question the negative opinions expressed in this report. People who have ridden in the English style tend to try to hold the horse in too tightly, as well as the way they sit. Western style tends to have a much looser rein, which is not the manner in which a gaited horse is trained. These differences can frustrate and frighten a horse if the rider is unwilling to adapt to these changes.
I have seen many horses come in to be trained by Gaye, several of them are repeat customers who come in yearly for a tune-up. I have seen many horses purchased and trained for people. I now work voluntarily with Gaye so that I can continue to learn and understand the horse, especially the gaited horse. She searched all over California to find the right horse for me. He cost her less than I paid for him, but she travelled to check him out, vetted him, shipped him, trained him and gave me several lessons so that he and I could have a safe and enjoyable relationship. This is her business and there is nothing wrong with making a profit.
The original report sounds like someone who wouldn't listen to Gaye's suggestions and instead of trying to work things out, got online and filed a report that is costly to try to mediate and will never go away.
Before you take a negative review as the word on a Business, do more research and read some of the positives as well. Then make your decision.

Owner Of The Facility Defends The Wonderful Gaye Derusso

As a professional horsewoman, I am saddened that malicious fabricated reports like this one filed against Gaye Derusso are allowed to proliferate on the internet. This incident is so invented, in fact, that I am begging Gaye to sue for Malicious Slander and Libel.
The "author" of the complaint has the odd idea that it is illegal, immoral, or wrong to buy a horse for $1000 and then sell it for $5000 after making it a better horse. What an absurd statement! That is what everyone does who invests -- buy a house, fix it up, and sell it for more. Buy a collectible, let it appreciate, sell it for more. Gaye had a wonderful eye for horses, she is a whiz at training them, and she indeed adds tremendously to their value. Calling her a "horse trader" as though that is a filthy word only displays the "authors" woeful ignorance not only of horses, but of the world.
I hope that there are people of integrity at both Ripoff Report and Google who will help me with removing this fabricated and libelous posting. Honestly, there are so many lies in it that there is just not enough time to address each point. Suffice it to say that the horse world would be a better place with more Gaye Derusso's in it, and I have the experience and professional reputation to say so with authority. If you have any doubts about Gaye's training or the quality of the horse care at the facility, please come by and see for yourself. A moment in the barn aisle is worth 1000 words here.

For Majestic Rider
AUTHOR: Dream Walker farrier - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, July 18, 2010
Normally I would not get involved in something like this, but Jen and Matt are such nice people I felt compelled to say something. I checked your site. Why is it that you have an entire page dedicated to trying to destroy Dream Walker Ranch. There are many many other business who really try to rip off horse owners all across the country. Why is it that you target Dream walker? There is a saying among some horse people about farriers and I think it would apply to horse sales as well. The good and honest farriers are apparent because they don't bash the others. Their work and integrity stands on it's own. They have no need to bash others to make themselves look good.
I know nothing of Majestic Rider so I can't comment and I won't speculate. I'm sure Jen would talk to you if you felt a need or concern about consumers. I am sure there have been a few unsatisfied customers in Dream walker history as with any business now matter how well run. I have personally seen some unreasonable people come through pretty much trying to scam Dream Walker. I imagine they have to draw a line somewhere. It's more like a family hobby over there. Even I have helped show a horse or 2 when Jen or Matt were out of town. It didn't really matter who was showing them because it's all about honesty at Dream Walker. Jen Will not sell a horse that is not safe or unsound. I see every horse who comes through her barn. I have even seen Jen help people who bought gaited horses from other dealers and it didn't work out. For example I know of 1 consumer who bought a horse (from a business I will not name since I am not here to trash anyone) and it just wasn't a great match. Nothing being wrong with the horse Jen offered to take a trade in so that the consumer would be able to buy a horse she got a long better with. She also found a better matched human for the horse she took in trade and it ended up in a great home.
Jen's horse are all very well behaved or she wouldn't have them. She is very honest about how the horses behave, their ages and their health. Gaye, Jen does a lot of business..... with the volume of business she does it is impossible not to run into some problems. I have nothing to gain here by saying all of this. I just felt this bashing of dream walker was wrong. Jen bends over backwards to help people match up to good horses because she loves to. I am sure out of every 100 people who go to her barn at least 1 will be unhappy. It may just be the person we all know as the customer who can't be made happy. I have 4 of my own horses but because Jen's horses are so much fun to ride, My husband and I go ride with them on occasion and we ride the sale horses. I should mention my husband has only been riding horses for 6 months and never has a problem riding the horses at Dream Walker. They babysit him and take care of him.
As a business owner you should have enough integrity not to personally bash a specific ranch on your website. It only serves to show that you need something to make yourself look better. Maybe you should just consider stepping back, give Jen a call and stop all this nonsense. the only people being hurt in this are the potential horse owners who could find a beautiful new friend at your place or dream walkers place.

The Truth Will Set You Free! Horse Trader.

The truth will set you free.
Thank you for the insults regarding my grammer. Do you treat all your customers this way. This complaint is not about grammer Gaye! It is about your poorly trained horses that you advertise as trained. It is just a matter of time till someone gets hurt and then the stable won't let you rent stalls anymore.
Your responses further validate this issue.
This lady is scam artist who cannopt admit the truth. A simple appology or CUSTOMER SERVICE would have been helpful.
All of the barns I visited were more professional than yours or should I say your rented stalls. Both Dream Walker and Cloud 9 had very nice horses. By the time I got there the horses I had been following were sold. You should be ashamed of yourself for attacking those people. They are honest, good people unlike yourself.
It is intersting that you dedicate your time to bashing Dream Walkers.
Why don't you clean up your own act!
I emailed them last night and told them about your remarks and they told me that they don't even know who you are. So you don't even validate what you right.
Shame on you!
The truth will set you free Gaye!

Gaye is a phony and a liar!
AUTHOR: Matthew - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, July 17, 2010
Well, congratulations for purchasing 2 horses from a horse trader!
Sounds as though Gaye wrote that. Only she would lie and once again blame others to evade the truth. That is the type of person she is and why you do not want to waste your time or money on her poorly "trained" horses.
First the story is from Jen, then it is from Matt from Dream Walker. How about not shifting blame again and sticking to the facts. Oh, that wouldn't work for you since you simply lie, bad mouth others and hide from the truth. Once again, not only are you a horse trader you are a liar. You are continually proving this.
I am actually traveling right now looking for a trained horse that can actually gait (unlike Gaye's horses). I am visiting my son in Las Vegas (Matt) who wrote this report for me. I am 68 years old and not very internet savvy. So that is why he wrote this for me. I have now visited with Cloud 9, Adam's Gaited Horse and Mule and now Dream Walker. None of their horses behaved as poorly as the "Majestic Rider's".
Once again, you should be ashamed of yourself for denying the event and further more attacking others to hide the truth. What kind of person does that?
Read this Rip Off Report chain and you will see what type of person Gaye is. She denys the truth and tries to shift the blame at all costs. Just like when I visited and her horse took off with me she said, "he never did that before." This is the type of person you are dealing with. This woman is a fraud. Gaye hides behind lies in an attempt to hide the truth. Well you can't hide this!
I plan on informing everyone I know including those that you bad mouth about your poor business practices and unethical ways of doing business.
A simple sorry or fessing up would have looked much better than this Rip Off Report Chain full of your denial and attacks on other businesses. Shame on you!
Buyers Beware!
Sincerely,
Sue and Matt

Wow! I cannot believe that you are going to deny this. On top of having hoses that are blatantly misrepresented you are also a liar. My complaint is about your business practices and your misrepresentations and yes, I did visit you! I did not sign a release form but you should remember this event clearly unless this happens all the time with your horses.
If you were that good of a "trainer" the horse I came to see would have never acted like that.
Anyone can call themselves a "trainer" and that is obviously the case here. Your horse took off on me and trotted. What kind of "trained gaited horse" is that? It is about right for you to deny this. When your horse acted up you said, "he has never acted this way before." Yeah, right!
At least you admit that you rent stalls from someone else's property, you are not breeding, raising or training young horses. You are buying and selling. You are the pure definition of a horse trader. At least this fact is undeniable and perfectly clear.
Howe can you advertise that you fix other peoples horses when you cannot even fix your own?
Don't try to cloud the issue by mentioning other people or businesses. The fact of the matter is that your horse was advertised on horseville for $1000. You bought him from an individual for nearly nothing, did very little so called "training" and jacked his price up. That is a rip off!
You should be ashamed of yourself for denying the event and then trying to bad mouth others to cover up your poor performing horses.
You are a disgrace to the horse community and a phony. I am sure you will not be in business long. People are smart enough to see through what you are doing.
Sincerely,
Sue
