I signed a contract with Specialty Roofing to repair my roof following Hurricane Wilma. I put over 2000 dollars down 1/3 of the total cost of the roof. His sales staff promised me the job would be complete by the start of the next Hurricane season. Nothing happened, No permit and no work was even started. Over the next several months none of my phone calls were ever returned by Mark Schmiter . I did receive a letter from his Sales staff saying that they had Over-sold the companys capacity to perform the work and that the Owner had no intention of doing all the roofs and we were advised to contract with another company. We did and finally had our roof replaced 2 yrs later by Paul Bange Roofing and they did a fine job. I then began my efforts to get my deposit back from this thief. First I wrote to the BBB a complaint with no response. I then went after his contractors license thorough the state and found out his license had been suspended and revocked multiple times. They were unable to get my money back . I then hired an Attorney locally to file a judgment against him. None of the attorneys letters were ever responded to so I kicked it up a notch and filed criminal charges against him at Sunrise P.D. They are investigating him at the time I write this. I will not rest untill I bring this thief to justice. He took advantage of my family during a natural disaster and is trying to hide out and hope this blows over he is now operating under another persons licence up in Orlando and says the company no longer does roofing. Many other people in my neighborhood were also victimized by this thief duing this time. I hope they too find restitution.
