Think about it this way. You own a lease house and you lease it to someone for 12 months. At the end of the 12 months your renter comes to you & tells you that since they had decided to vacation out of the country for 4 months and hadn't actually stayed in it for 4 months they want you to let them stay in your house for another 4 months for free. What do you think you'd say?
Here's what you'd say. "Of course I'm not going to let you stay in my rent house for another 4 months for free!. Are you nuts?. You decided not to live in my house for 4 months. I didn't keep you out. You owe the monthly lease payments every montgh for 12 months whether you stay there or not".
