This company owns many dating sites OurTime and other senior sites (mentioned in the terms of service) Match.com and Kiss.com lures people into signing up by saying that it's free to join and with the exception of Kiss.com which FALSELY claims that it's 100% free (it's a little better in that you can respond when a paid member contacts you and in my case they gave me a free membership they said for three months but more like one week) but once you sign up on a free membership with the others you can do NOTHING with it, can't respond, read or even find who sent them to you.
The reason that they let you sign up for free is that they want to fool people into thinking they have a lot of members so they'll join, only to find out that the members can't contact them back, it's very misleading. And the fact that they give free members an upgraded membership stating it was for three months and then taking it back after about a week, (I was told because I had mentioned another dating site in my profile that was easier to access because Kiss.com often freezes or says I got new emails or winks and I didn't or I can't delete old ones but after I was reinstated I removed that reference and it was still deleted so I think my theory that they wanted me to contact men to think I was a member and be able to contact me but then after I had, they can't find my profile (I had that happen to me when men contacted me and then their profile disappeared, now I know why), they probably do that because paid members may get discouraged contacting people with no response, so they want free members to be able to respond for awhile.
So DO join, but do what I do, join other sites that really ARE free, Mingle2, Singlesconnection, Luvfree, Jumpdates (you can google others) and use the SAME username that you do in all the Match websites. Tell 10 of your single friends to do exactly the same thing and tell them to tell 10 of THEIR friends but remember join only as a FREE member. If you see someone you like do a google or other internet search on their user name and contact them on the FREE site. Call and call and call their customer service line at 800-926-2824 and tie up their phones and complain that they are stating their site is FREE when it's really not!
My issue with them is that they that waste one's time by stating sign up is free when there is nothing you can do with a free site unlike others like Spiritual Singels, or Brainiac Dating or Millionaire Dating which DOES let free members get contacted by paid members as is should be so Match's and their other sites free membership is useless. I want them to change so they are upfront and honest and state that they are a dating site that you have to PAY for and let prospective members know that so pos. members do NOT wasting their time filling out a profile.
One of the reason that I don't join (and I can't understand why others do) is that since I know that as a free member I can't do anything, is there is a strong possibility that the guys I may be attracted to are free and can't see anything I wrote. Let's keep doing this until they change their deceptive behavior.
