Purchased a Maytag Perform Oversized Capacity Plus Washer (Top Load), Model No. PAV 3360AWW, REV 20, Serial #20357560CJ about 3 or 4 years ago.
This top load washer has a serious defect with water level mechanism.
When we have a unbalanced load in "tub" during the spin cycle the washing machine will vibrate and "dance" across the floor. This excessive vibration eventually causes the plastic tube that regulates the water level in the tub to become unfastened. Because of the unfastened tubing the water continues to pour into the tub and eventually floods the area where the washer is located.
This problem has now happened 3 times (today was the 3rd time, Friday, February 22, 2008).
The washer is located on the 2nd floor of a residence for XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX in Dayton, Ohio.
Because of the flooding problems of today and the past water has cascaded down three flights of stairs, flooded our dining room, and of course, our laundry room.
I have purchased Maytag washers in the past because of their reliability ratings. We have been highly pleased with Maytag products until now.
I have told our employees and friends and family members of this problem with this Maytag top load washer and simply put "not to purchase Maytag products" because of this reliability problem.
This is a serious defect with this product. Quite frankly I am surprised Maytag has not recalled this product.
We are now going to purchase a new washer for our Marianist community.
It will never again be a Maytag washer or quite frankly a Maytag product.
