On July 7,2003 I purchased a Maytag washer and dryer from Home Depot. The purchase came with a $50 rebate from Maytag. On 7/10/03 I sent my completed rebate form to the Maytag rebate center along with my receipt from Home Depot.
Eight weeks later I contacted the rebate center because I had not received my funds. They informed me the address on the rebate form contained a misprint. Maytag was aware of this error but they returned my rebate form to me and asked that I resubmit it to the correct address. I then sent another rebate form to the correct address and waited for a response. After some time I contacted the Maytag customer service center because I had not received any information from the rebate center.
They informed me I could fax the copy to them directly and they would process the rebate. On 10/01/2003 I faxed my receipt to the Maytag customer service center. I waited again for a response. I was then contacted by a person from the Maytag center on 10/20/2003 who advised me that they had again lost my information and could I fax the information to them again.
I felt it was unfair to ask me, the consumer, to take yet another step. They have received three copies of this information and have lost it three times. I asked the representative to speak with a supervisor. The representative took my name and number and said she would have someone call me. I called this morning (10/21/03) because I had not received a call back. The Maytag representative advised me that no message had been left regarding my complaint.
She then transferred my call to a man who identified himself as a Solutions Manager, what a joke! I explained my problem to him, yet again. He advised that although unfortunate I would need to fax my information in again, a forth time. I would then need to wait another 6-8 weeks for my rebate. I advised the representative that I would not be sending the information again, I felt I had done all I could on my end.
I have spent time and money faxing information to them. I do not think it fair to ask the consumer to fix their problem. Maytag has received my information on three different occasions. They have been careless in their handling of important documents. I have no faith in their process and do not feel confident that Maytag will ever process my rebate. In fact. I little faith that should my washer or dryer ever need repair that it will be done so in a timely and complete manner.
