It's already broken, I called the Company Maytag and they say there is nothing they can do since warranty it's expired and there is no recall on this washer, when I looked on internet there is thousands of complain about this expensive washer broken for the same reason, drum and leak water, the kit It's insane exepnsive I have already expend over $500 and still not working properly, and the I told the company Maytag they should recall this product and honor the repair of this washer and they don't care at all, they just said there is no recal sorry we can help you, I told them I will report it to BBB and the Custumer service rep told me fine go ahead!
This is incredible the kind of customer service we get from this people, they shouldn't be selling products that are junk like this washer, Please people before buying a Maytag washer or dryer think twice and DON'T DO IT, You WILL REGRET IT BIG TIME!

You're right, you'd expect it to last longer than it did.

Could you provide the link(s) to these thousands of complaints on this washer?
I have been unable to find them. If true, I think potential purchasers of this machine would like to investigate this washer...thanks!
