I am here at this store often, and on many occassions come upon either manager or employee cars parked in the Handi Cap Zone Parking for much extended periods of time.

A few nights ago when I asked a night manager about this illegal practice, he at first said they were moving boxes into the store, then changed to a simple appology when I pointed out that there was another door 20 feet down the wall that had better and more direct access to their behind the counter storage facilities (also with parking directly in front of it)

Around the city of Macon,GA. there are other posted HandiCap Zone Parking spots with warnings of $500.00 Fines for violation.

Here at McDonalds the sign reads $100.00....Why?

And further, why are none of these violations dealt with by the municipality, when their needs for revenue is so great?

This illegal parking is a huge problem everywhere, but seemingly ignored everywhere to the detriment of people who truely need these access spots.

Is it because the HandiCapped are not seen as real customers?

While I normally agree with most of what tyg states, in this case I will have to respectfully disagree with most of their post.

First of all there are legal requirements for a business to maintain a certain number of Handicaped spaces depending on the size of their parking lot.  Then even though it is "private" property, that does not mean that it is "open season" for people to park there if they work there or not.  If they do not have a Handicap placard or plate it is ILLEGAL for someone to park in that space and they are subject to ticketing and/or towing.   So to the OP perhaps making your local officials aware of the problem may be the best move.  If that doesn't work I am sure your local media would take this on.

Now, with that said.  I have to agree with tyg that there is a huge amount of abuse that goes along with the handicapped parking.  From relatives "borrowing" a placard to people outright lying to get one.  But if you truly need one there is absolutly nothing wrong with using it.

Now I know why the burgers and fries are always burned and why I can never get the right change back at this McDonalds!  Its because everybody working there is watching the handicapped parking spot where the '84 Escort with the rims and wheels is parked.

the truly handicapped have spoken

the comment's made are indicative of an individual with an incomplete thought process; so incomplete that the entire "report" read's like a fifth grade temper tantrum.  clearly, the author is a micky dee employee, and a paranoid one with an inferiority complex at that.

the argument put forth as the intitail rebuttal is short-sighted in every aspect.  from that writer's viewpoint, the property is private and as the representative of the owner, the employee should have priority.  being that the convenience of the paying guest is irrevelant to that employee, one is left to wonder where exactly doe's he think his paycheck come's from?  without the guest, there is no business.

and when there is no business, there are no bi-weekly paycheck's.  with no paycheck, there is no car for the employee to be concerned with and the problem is solved.  the safety of the car in question is not the responsibility or concern of the paying guest and never will be.

being that the employee is overly concerned with the protection of his custom made bentley above all else; perhaps he should consider utilizing the macon transit authority buses to reach his place of employment. after all, he is a proponent of walking and the bus will let him off directly across four lanes of traffic on presidental parkway.

i, for one, will continue to use my placard.  my physician gave me a written order for it and i will certainly defer to his judgement.  while the employee states that he is eligible for a placard but does not have one, it should be noted that severe impairment's above the neck are ineligible in the first place.

First as a handicapped individual myself, I find your attitude to be VERY poor. You say this is the night crew doing this. But have you even stopped for a second and tried to figure out the WHY behind it? No more then likely you did not. In fact Im 100% sure your one of those asses that believes you are entitled to that parking spot.

Did you ever stop and think that maybe they do this at night so they can keep an eye on their car? No of course not. Youre not that bright. A McDonalds parking lot is small. As such it really wouldnt kill you to walk an extra FIVE FEET!! Youre going to complain and whine and expect EVERYONE to pity poor you. As a handicapped person I CHOSE to NOT get a placard. You know why...because 85% of the ppl who have a handicapped placard ARE NOT TRULY HANDICAPPED!! Boohoo you suffer from some ache or pain. Get over it.

These employees are simply trying to KEEP WHAT THEY HAVE EARNED. You would do well to test your own limits now and again. Maybe instead of complaining about the fact that you didnt get a close parking spot, you should park as far away as you can and walk. Youre probably also that jackass handicapped person who resents other ppl when they park in handicapped even when they are handicapped.

Handicapped doesnt mean DEAD!! It means you deal with a daily problem that limits you ability to interact NORMALLY. YOU are the only one that doesnt see ppl as ppl. Its evident in the fact that instead of useing your brain and figuring out what the issue is, you run to the web and b***h and moan. Get over it and yourself. And if you feel that strongly about handicapped parking, call the police. But they will probably just laugh at you as McDonalads IS PRIVATE PROPERTY!!!!! As the employees represent the owners of that property, they CAN park there.

So great job at showing exactly how poor your thinking is. Great job treating the employees like ppl. I guess they dont exist in YOUR world unless they are giving you fries with that GIANT helping of self-superiority. Perhaps during the holiday season you can set that attitude aside and maybe be a human being for awhile. You might like it.
