We took a car we bought in an estate auction to Meineke to assess the work the Chevy Venture van needed. After 5 days of ignoring our requests for an estimate they said it needed a battery before they could look at it to tell what it needed. My husband OKayed the battery install. We received a call to say the car had been at the shop too long and they were going to charge storage fees if we didn't come to pay. In a rush, my husband went on his lunch break, but when we both arrivde that afternoon to pick up the car, we realized we were getting ripped off and asked to return the overpriced battery. The manager, Bruce Morris, said he would look for another job, he couldn't do this to people any more, but couldn't give my money back, even though the car never left the garage, instead he gave me a complaint number to call and said he wouldn't deny overcharging if someone called to verify. I called the complaint ctr who contacted the shop owner Sherry, who refused to resolve and make this right.

I feel so taken advantage off. Who can you have in faith in anymore? No one should bring their cars to Meineke!

Something doesn't make sense in your report.

First off you gave no details as to the type of battery and the price they charged or how you came up with it being a 250% mark-up.

Also, if these people were ignoring your requests to even get it looked at..why did you keep it there.  After the first day you should have said..thanks but no thanks and taken it to another place.  But when they finally did look at it you go from them saying it needing a new battery to even check out what needs to be done.  To when they put it in the next thing they are doing is calling you to tell you to pick up your car and your husband has to rush down there on his lunch hour.

Seems like there are some very important details missing.

Also, as a side note I just find it amazing how many managers/employees always seem to "see the error in their ways" and all of the sudden want to find another job.  But the manager you talked to goes one step further.  He says he will freely admit that he overcharged you if anyone asks.  I'd say if he is on the level then take Meineke to small claims court and use him as your "star witness".  Please do come back and let us know his reaction when he is served with a subpoena and testifies on your behalf.
