Ken Hughes keeps calling my phone number five days a week and saying I need to call him. He will ring my phone number as many as ten times a day. My phone number is listed on the do not call lists. I can't tell Ken Hughes not to call my number anymore as he is just a recording.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Karen...WRONG!!!!!...You need to learn how the real world works!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Karen,

You really ned to read, and learn the FDCPA as well as some state laws on debt collecting. MOST of the debts that MCG CO attempts to collect are NOT legally collectable, and they know it! It is called STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS!!

Furthermore, sending a CEASE COMMUNICATION letter is the absolute best thing a debtor can do. I have proven this. It forces them to drop the collections activity, or file a lawsuit, and we all know those debts could not be documented to win in court. MCG CO knows it too!

FYI...I have beaten MCG CO TWICE, and yes they do just go away. They only pursue those who don't fight back!

AND, they are no longer "debts", as when the ORIGINAL CREDITOR charged it off, sold it, and took the tax deduction for the loss, it stopped being a "debt" and became an INVESTMENT. That's right, MCG CO knowingly and willingly purchased that old, uncollectable debt for far less than a penny on the dollar.

Under the law, MCG CO MUST prove that the "debtor" owes THEM the money, as the original creditor is totaly out of the picture.

Karen, I just love that you are responding to every MCG Co post. This brings them all to the top and increases the visible ratio of complaints against MCG CO! I love it!

To any victims of MCG CO, play with them some to get them to violate the FDCPA so you can sue them. Do this by sending a DEBT VALIDATION request. Clearly dispute the debt, and demand all further communications be ONLY in writing. Specify that you want to see the agreement you signed that says you owe them money as well as a full account history and itemization of charges. Then demand proof of ownership, specify that you want to see the purchase contract and AMOUNT PAID along with proof of payment. You are entitled to this if it goes to court. They will NEVER provide you with this information as they do not want to expose thier scam.

In court, you can only sue for what you actually lost. In this case, it's ZERO as they are not creditors, therefore they have lost NOTHING.

They made a bad investment. That is like you buying a stock and suing your stock broker for the loss! It is the same thing. These crooks are using the court system to enforce return on investment.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wait A Second......

AUTHOR: Karen - (U.S.A.)

Ken Hughes is not an alias used by a collector. And also telling a person to ignore paying their debts is not a way to go. Telling a person to send a letter of cease and desist is not a smart choice. They will still owe the debt even if they don't get the calls or the letters.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

The Do Not Call list does not apply to DEBT COLLECTORS.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Ken Hughes is the alias of a debt collector.

You need to never take thier calls. Answer and immediately press and hold the #1 key down. This makes a terrible screeching sound in a headset.

You need to send a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as per your rights under the FDCPA. Just search other posts here for all of the specifics on how to do this and where to send it.

Read the FDCPA on the FTC website and on some good consumer sites listed here also.

Knowledge is power.
