In Feb 2012 We traveled to Merckles Hilltop Mastiffs to purchase a English Mastiff from the breeder. The puppy we purchased was 10 weeks old.We purchased him from a woman named Barbara who claimed the puppy was her daughters and she too breeds English Mastiffs. The puppy came with a 2 year health guarantee.Little did we know, this was the beginning of the end of an innocent life. Our puppy that we purchased from Merckles Mastiffs for $1,000,had health issues from the start. After regular visits to the vet for check-ups and shots, the puppy was not gaining weight as a Mastiff should. We tried everything to combat his constant diareha and vomiting including recommendations from our vet who is too a English Mastiff owner. In November 2012,I contacted Merckles Mastiffs and spoke to the breeder,Barb, about the puppy being so ill and of the vet visits. She told me we could bring our puppy back and she would give us another puppy and resell the very ill one we first bought from her.I mentioned to her again the seriousness of the dogs illness and she said she would not have the dog taken to the vet,she would just resell him which brings me to believe she sold us a very ill puppy to begin with. The day befor we was to return our puppy to Merckles Mastiifs,he became even sicker. He was now vomiting blood and it was in his stool as well.At that point I called Barbara, the breeder, and notified her of his worsening condition and she stated she would have her daughter contact us.After a call back and a conversation with Brooke, she stated she did not want the puppy back and she recommends having him euthanized. We explained to her that this is a one thousand dollar puppy and all that he has endured with his illness in his short life and at one point she was laughing. She maintained she didnt want the puppy back. This is a breeder who does this for the love of money, not the breed. How many sick dogs have they sold at such a high price? They also have an outrageous amount of dogs which is breeding grounds for all kinds of illnesses for dogs and a puppy farm.
