Dorcus the HR manager will promise you that employees average $5000-$7500 a month, not you could make, not thats what top producers make, the average. She states its a laid back atmosphere to work. The say that there are leads provided to make calls. And lastly that it is a Christian based company. All false.

W/ the Commission structure employees have to wait 90days on average before they ever see income from their sale. W/ the client drop out rates over 30% you lose a high amount of your commission $. They will start you off on a 9$ draw so you will owe the company for every $ paid to you that you do not earn in commission. The Average employee at Mesa Rock Financial makes $9 an hour as nobody has made a commission check. Big difference from what is promised. Also they may state that no one has worked there long enough to make commission. They have been open since Dec its now Apr. How long does it take? I have talked to Sister co. Topaz and their employees state that only 10% of their employees ever see commission checks.

This place is a revolving door. Ray the lead manager of the department is an uneducated Used car sales manager. He collects name tags of past employees and has a huge stack of them while joking with other managers about the size of the stack. He talks badly about every past employee and about every current employee non discreetly. 75% of the people who get out of the 2 quick training days quit their 1st week because they can tell whats going on and got better things to do. The ones who stayed or are currently employed here do so out of desperation. Some people are Felons and cannot find another job that does not require intense labor, some are just ignorant and really are hoping for a payday one day.

The "Leads" At first you will be given a group of #s to dial that are old and have been called already 100s of times by past employees. You will have to make 2 sales before getting "Warm" leads. This is a list of pissed off people who 1 will not answer.. 2 will cuss you out because they have begged to get off the call list 3 have done something else. If you show enthusiasm and make a lot of calls then they may throw you a bone with a warm lead here there. After 3 weeks of calling you may finally get 2 sales. But now you are 3 weeks in the hole and owe the company $1080. Now you graduate to "Warm" leads.

They will give you 5-8 a day thats all. The leads they purchase are very poor quality and are not exclusive so potential clients will receive various calls from numerous other companies. Also they are not direct. Sometimes your lead will have filled out a credit application and got denied, a home loan, a cell phone, or a prize winner application. So these are Cheep leads; yet the company will tell you they pay good $$ for them. Miss one week without making a sale off this crap lead system and your back to old data base leads and it will take you another week or 2 to get out and back to "warm" crap leads. They are really bad.. Not too much different from picking up the phonebook and cold calling.

They claim that they are a Christian based company. LOL Yet their are felons working there, they lie to employees to get them hired, constantly cuss during the sales meetings, lie to customers who are desperate for help over the phone and here is an email sent from the pres Jordan Lane himself showing what his view is on a "Christian" holiday.

Jordan: What is the Company position on Good Friday?

We were told that because most people are off we should be able to finally reach them and to dial and Sell Sell Sell.... Nothing but taking advantage of a Christian holiday and it was viewed as a " Great day to make $$"

1. There are no employees who work at mesa rock financial who really know what is going on with your situation. They are only a very small % of employees who work there who have ever stepped foot into a college. There are Felons who work on the phones making sales. No employee has worked over a year so they do not know how the settlement really even works. They cannot tell you for sure what it will finally say on your credit report. They all give misleading information whether because they are just trying to make a sell or because they really just do not know what they are talking about. No matter what they say they are trying to sell you the program in exchanged for a promised commission.

2. The Fees.. Start off w/ 15% of your total debt. Add in 79$ per month for "account fee" which the avr terms will be 36 months so almost an added $3000. Your settlement should be between 20-35% so when you add on the two fees you are paying 50-80% of the total. When they tell you how much you will be saving w/ Mesa Rock they dont include the extra 79$ per month which adds up real fast. If you are paying 50-80% of your settlement then that means you got a bad deal considering they sell your account for 8-12% to collections. If you account is in collections then you know what they paid.. You can do this yourself So So much cheaper and there is information all over the web that will tell you what to do.

3. They will tell you that our company will help you from Litigation. Yet we have no Lawyers to represent you. They will tell you they are a member of TASC / or IAPDA organization but so can anyone who pays the correct fee. They will tell you they know what they are talking about. But every one is full of misinformation and no one is truly educated in the Debt Settlement field. They give employees a Debt Analyst title after 2 half day training periods more focused on handling clients and the phones then actual Debt facts. They give employees a Certified Debt Specialist title to who ever clears $80K in fees in one month; this is just a purchased piece of paper from IAPDA.

4. They are not a "Christian" based company as they may claim. Just using his name in vain to use Christ's credibility and trust to try and give you false comfort. See evidence above.

Point is you can do it yourself or find a better way to settle, Id personally go w/ a lawyer who knows the law and the process. The fees may seem more expensive up front but they can wipe out your debt faster and make sure your credit line is in tact.

new employee doing great

AUTHOR: Jonny - (U.S.A.)

I've been at this company now for about 2 and a half weeks, and it was everything that i was told it was when i got hired. it's pretty laid back, although ray's managerial style is not to my standards of what a manager does or says, the rest of the company is great. We have a superior product and we represent it well. It does take time for us to get paid our commissions, but that was all explained in the interview process. I have even signed up my mom recently. If i didnt believe that this was a financially sound company then i would never in my wildest dreams done that. whatever else that christian or william or whatever his name was was griping about is just a bunch of crap. have a great and wonderful day. God bless.

Proof Why Consumers Should Never Work With a Debt Help Company

AUTHOR: Realitysucks - (U.S.A.)

This has got to be one of the funniest exchanges between a company and an ex-employee i have ever seen.

Anyone can tell that this "debt help" company is a sham, and driven on greed. Think of the Movie Boiler Room and you can see the inside of this place, calls, numbers, adn sales is all they care about. Fees of $79 a month and 15% of your savings will cost someone thousands on something they can do themselves.

Credit Card companies already have set negotiations with debt settlement clients, the company just sends a form letter, and based on how long you havent paid them the credit card company is willing to take less, at 6 months they may take 70% and 1 year 45%, 18 months, 30%, etc.... YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF! Dont pay your credit cards, ignore the calls, save the minimum payments in a seperate bank account, in 8 months call the lowest or most annoying creditor and settle with your savings, and repeat.

These debt companies are run by boiler room sales men, they use high pressure sales tactics to con you out of your money. Dont fall for the scam. TASC is a BS organization that is around to con consumers into thinking they watch the debt company, yet all they do is collect money from debt companies to help keep the scam going ;);)

STAY AWAY, and no i never worked for your boiler room shop. To smart to fall for the sale and scam.

You all are some vile people!

AUTHOR: Sam - (U.S.A.)

Here it is you have two separate reports on the same company, and three people (probably partners) vilifying them! Disgusting!
I can tell the difference in posts between Christianthegreat and Williamthegreat. They are vastly different and Williams was well written. He rebutted all your so-called claims (which I'll get to in a second). These were two employees who had enough and logged on.

The debt dr. 09 said:
It is funny how uneducated felons and used car salesmen are able to hold and keep a very gratifying job when he can not.
I would choose very carefully the next you post a rebuttal. In this post you call him a felon. If he's not a felon, it's slander. There's no defense or excuse for it. Look at the intial post again, and then williams. The style is completely different.

Senior Financial Analyst said:
This ex-employee was discovered to be CRIMINAL and had lied through his hiring process.

Since this guy - WILLIAM is his actual name - is able to post LIES about a sound financial company that helps people, let's explore WILLIAM'S situation:

He recently participated in a fraud to cheat his insurance company after crashing his car and completely wrecking it.

He quit only because he was about to be fired.

And why should anyone take his opinion as any kind of fact? He never attended college, does not work and has had more than 3 jobs in the last 6 months.

Following this, Senior Financial Analyst said:
Mesa Rock Financial can be engaged as the client's attorney-in-fact for the purpose of negotiation and settlement with creditors.

For someone who can be engaged as the client's attorney, I'm led to believe you don't consult with much of the employment kind. Everything you posted is suppose to be confidental. Furthermore, if he participated in any sort of insurance fraud (doubtful), and you didn't report it. Guess what? You're accountable too in my opinion and should be sued as well because you knew and did not do the right thing by reporting it.

Also, if he was a criminal, that was your stupidity for not doing a background check. Don't blame him for your inept due-diligence.

Now, the most vile claim was against William. Not bathing? Really? That's low! I don't know about Texas, but these two gentlemen could file a lawsuit for slander because you don't talk about person aspects of a person who quit or got fired. You just don't do that! If I worked for your company and you said this about me, I'd sue you for everything you were worth!

As if this were not enough, when I type in Mesa Rock, five reports show up for Mesa Rock/Topaz financial. One or two disgruntled employees? Okay. I could see that, but I've seen proper rebuttals from business owners, and none of this childish behavior was listed in their responses.

But I will keep Topaz/Mesa in mind if I'm ever looking to go back to the financial world as one to AVOID at all costs.

#11 UPDATE EX-employee responds

No need to Slander

AUTHOR: William The Great - (U.S.A.)

Lets just correct these lies one by one.
A. I lied though the interview process.. Well I didn't get a chance to talk really. I was being sold the position not having to sell myself. During the interview I probably only got out 2 sentences worth of words. Plus Im thinking they hire everyone who does interview. I would sit there and watch people one by one come up to the interview and then get offered a job. Probably 75% would show to training and then 75% would quit their 1st day on the floor.
B. I participated in Fraud totaling my car thus cheating my insurance company Also not true. I did wreak my car. Hit a curb after swerving from a drunk who ran out in the middle of the street. That drunk was issued a Public intoxication and Jaywalking. My underside of the car was ruined, my airbags deployed , and my roll bars popped up. The insurance company decided to total it because they could make more of salvaging it and selling its parts then paying for repairs. I bought my 330iBMW Convertible w/ 25,000 miles under warranty at auction. Paid $24K for it. Kelly Blue book valued it at $36. Thus I had positive equity. I bought it less then what it was worth. The insurance company gives you Fair market value for your car. I received $31K from my insurance company. That's not fraud. It usually works the other way with fair market value and you get less then what you paid or what you owe but I made a good purchase. It was inconvenient for me as I had to drive a rental on my own dime while finding another convertible BMW at auction.
C. I did not shower Wow really? That's a really juvenile cut down. Usually I showered on my 2hr lunch break because I would go work out at the Lifetime fitness. I shower before bed every night. Its true though about the shaving. I decided to grow out my facial hair. This job was over the phone only so being shaved or not did not swerve the customer's decision. I was told attire was business professional but that was very relaxed as people would have on un-tucked polo style tops with wrinkled jeans and holes. As an unmotivated employee I became relaxed and did not shave. I went with the rough look and got plenty positive compliments on it.
D. Never attended college and had 3 jobs in 6 months. 1st I graduated in 05 from the University of Houston in 2005 awarded with Bachelors Of Arts, Philosophy course curriculum was completed. This can be verified on UH's website www.uh.edu/alumni under 05. 2nd I had 3 jobs in 6 months. Truth was I worked at the same place over the last 6 months but it closed down do to the economy. It was on the news as it was such a big place. Before that I had a one year contract in Dubai which required a degree in order to receive the opportunity and get a business Visa to UAE.
I am not a criminal and I will not lower myself and talk bad about people who are slandering me. Mesa Rock Financial was not in my opinion offering a job that has any opportunity as I stated above under William the Great. I do not want to work at a place where everyone complains on how broke they are, regardless of their job title. Watching people quit left and right is a bad sign. Don't take my word for it though. There are plenty of negative comments/warnings about this company all over the internet. I should have done my research prior to accepting.

Topaz is definitely going down!

AUTHOR: Karomiry - (U.S.A.)

After the way you lowered yourself and attacked "Christian the Great" shows the American Public two things. One that you are NOT a Christian Company, because Jesus states that you should turn the other cheek. And two who in the world would want to do business with a company that would slander someone about their personal hygene? Hello? That is incredibly unacceptable.

The reason you chose to attack him in the manner that you did is because you have NO other leg to stand on, ummmm let's say something about the way he smells or doesn't bathe...yeah that'll show him! Please would EVERYONE STOP COMMENTING ON TOPAZ! We all know they treat their empolyees like Crap! So let's all say a little prayer that they don't treat their clients the same.

I started this out of anger and it has grown into something bigger than I had imagined! I was angered because when I started at Topaz it was such a POSITIVE place to work! We ALL got along there were alot of high fives and good times. Caleb was such an amazing motivator and we all wanted to do well. Caleb was a pawn for the comapny. He was a true company man! Working late at night, taking phone calls fropm an angry Jordan because our numbers were slacking. I mean this guy took it from all angles. And he NEVER said a harsh word against any of them! Guess how they repayed him....... yupp....they moved him to Austin to be a Rep! Now you tell me...is that gratitude?

Nope you guessed it! It's not gratitude, it's wll we used you up your of no use to us now, your broken and druied up so we'll move on! Where is the loyalty? Where is the relationship?....Oh yeah that's right, he wasn't producing in your eyes so let's knock him down! That's REAL positive!

Caleb is the only person that gave me a chance with my quirkiness and he believed in me! He mentored me and was trying to make me a better person! So TOPAZ YOU BLEW IT WHEN YOU MESSED WITH THE SYSTEM! iT WAS JUST FINE UNTIL YOU GAVE DORCAS POWER!...OH AND MELISSA.

Good Luck with your 6 people on the ninth floor. OBTW...Everyone in the Wachovia Building thinks Topaz is a JOKE!

"Christian the Great" is really WILLIAM C. the Criminal Loser

AUTHOR: Senior Financial Analyst - (U.S.A.)

Anyone can post anything on the internet. And somebody will then be able to read it. Does that mean it is true? No.

He often did not shower or shave for days and came to work that way.
When confronted about his poor work ethic and his web-surfing during work hours, he was glib and irresponsible.

He quit only because he was about to be fired.

And why should anyone take his opinion as any kind of fact? He never attended college, does not work and has had more than 3 jobs in the last 6 months.

Mesa Rock Financial can be engaged as the client's attorney-in-fact for the purpose of negotiation and settlement with creditors. We successfully negotiate settlements as low as 9 cents on the dollar. And we are very successful. Those are facts.

WILLIAM was upset. He quit. He turned out to be a criminal. So don't trust his information.

#14 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Not accurate in your assumptions

AUTHOR: William The Great - (U.S.A.)

I was notified of this from a current employee so I checked it out. To my dismay I am given credit for the original article. I wouldn't care really but I don't want it to reflect as my opinions. I want it known that I have no incentive for writing this as likely I will never see anyone from this company again nor do I need them as a reference. I just want to separate my opinions from the original author. I do have an idea who it is though I talked to many who share a lot of the same opinions. First I will comment on what I disagree with.
1st The people I met there were friendly and nice. I did not really ask enough into their background to know if they had felonies or if they went to college or not. I wouldn't know for sure if Ray is a Used Car Manager as I did not ask. I heard people say it and may have engaged in the joking on stereotypical similarities but would never judge him on it since I myself have also worked in the car business. I personally thought he was funny as he had a dry sarcastic since of humor and did not care when people joked back at him poking fun.
2nd It states that the 2 day training focused on calls, yet mine was more focused on a quick view of various options that someone in debt may have available to them. As I remember the person who lead the training did actually have a college degree.
3rd I would not suggest the majority of people to attempt debt settlement themselves. Most of the people who I talked to worked a large amount of hours and had no clue on how to set up their own trust fund. Writing negotiation letters does take time and some skill. It is something that you have to constantly monitor and stay current with. I will do it tomorrow attitude is likely to form both with putting the money into the trust fund and writing the letters.
4th I myself would never claim to have more knowledge than whomever regarding this field because my degree earned was Bachelor of Arts Philosophy.
5th I could care less if a company wants to say they are Christian based. What is that anyway? While I personally never saw any congruent relation I did not expect to be off on Good Fri as it is not the type of professional job in which it would be common to be off. I would not have known the difference if it were an Atheist or Muslim based company because it was just ran as a business looking to make money.
Now there are some things I do agree with in the article. But to complain they say you should present a solution.
1. Yes its unrealistic to expect the average Mesa Rock salesmen to make $60-$90K a year. Just pitch it as it could be made or it has been made. For someone who does not want to be average that means they come in expecting the opportunity to make much more.
2. People do constantly misrepresent the truth on the phones while making sale attempts. For example. They say Chapter 13 will make you pay your unsecured debt in its entirety plus Truth: Only secured debts will be if you want to keep them and other things that Mesa Rock does not handle anyway such as Child Support and Taxes. For Unsecured Debt ,will be paid anywhere from 0% to 100% of what you owe. The exact amount depends on your lawyer, total value of your nonexempt property, the amount of disposable income you have each month, and how long your plan lasts.
Or Don't worry about that part in the contract that states you will have to pay taxes for the settlement on forgiven debt as Credit card companies rarely report them Truth: For those whose debts are settled, they will need to report the canceled portions to the IRS as taxable income. Because a debt settlement is conducted outside of the bankruptcy system, any amount greater than $600 is considered taxable. To be fair though there is a form that can exclude your taxes if you owe more than your worth but for big settlement clients who still have a high net worth you will pay taxes. Another one is Debt Consolidation looks like Bankruptcy on your credit report Truth: not even close to true. Solution: This really easily could all be changed with better, longer training getting everyone on the same page. 3. There is a huge dropout immediately after training because of the conditions is also true from my short experience. Higher more qualified people, have a more professional work experience, offer $400 a week until the commissions do kick in, mix in more warm leads instead of dead ones from months back, slightly longer training w/ at least a full day on the phones to know what is expected other than dial. Fix the Commission system in which it takes So long for anyone to see. Qualified people will not be satisfied w/ $400.
Lastly as for me The Laziest unmotivated employee ever maybe that is fair. I am not upset that I was let go. I did deserve it I am sure. I did have a negative attitude. I did have days where I did not make over 300 calls. I did trade stocks on my Ameritrade account while reading Yahoo Financial News No excuses just the truth. It takes the air out of your motivation watching employees quit left and right. Observing employees months ahead of you complain about their commission. Seeing people you work with gather together in masses result to joining a pyramid scheme product distribution line in order to hope to make additional income to survive. Looking at computer screens in which people are filling out applications to other jobs.
I was never late except one day in which I gave a one week's notice saying I would be. I was told we had a 2hr lunch and I took them. How many more calls can you make to one house? I had 120 numbers in which I called 3 times each day. What is the difference between me and a bill collector at that point? How much work is needed to make 400 calls? How busy can you look? Where should your eyes be if not on your computer screen? While I was there I never saw anyone make an additional sale on a Saturday and as an unmotivated employee with a life I did not make the extra trip to call on my already exhausted list nor did I see a correlation with an off day as Mesa Rock only closed on 3 clients on Good Fri. I deserved to be let go and I was. No harmed feelings it was a blessing. I did have a few clients who asked me to continue calling them and I did want to earn commission as $9 an hour does nothing for me. I wanted to make a sale and I wanted to earn my money. Just didt happen while I was there watching a lot of people with warm leads have similar productivity as me but maybe they made more calls or looked busier doing it.

#15 UPDATE Employee

It takes all kinds

AUTHOR: Ittakesallkinds - (U.S.A.)

Williamthegreat was fired 4-15-09. He would come to work late, leave early, stretch all breaks and lunch to their fullest. He would Stare at his computer monitor and would show absolutely no motivation toward earning a commission. Our pay is determined by an hourly wage draw against future commissions. He was continuously coached by management and us co-workers to get on the phone and actually do some work but this concept was lost on him. It became obvious he was coming to work for the hourly wage and not to earn commissions.

There are customer drop outs in our program I do not know of one industry that has 100% retention. I bet most companies would love to learn how to keep it that low. My retention is closer to 85% but I know some have 30% drop out so I am ok with that number.

As for being a Christian Based Company, so far I have not seen anything that would indicate that we were not. For company sponsored meals I hear prayers (which I think it is great) I am not preached at but I do notice Bibles on desk tops and the occasional flipping of a page now and then. Not closing for Good Friday? I have never worked for a company that did close for Good Friday. We did have several people not come in that day so that they could observe their religious practices (darn I could have taken the day off). In a commission based job it is not a sin to be able to reach people when they are off, it is a great thing. It was meant as motivation to be able to reach more people than usual. Although had Christianthegreat ever stayed late or worked on Saturdays he might have realized calling when the customers were home was better than when they were not home. When customers are home I have a chance to talk with them and see if they need help. Instead he would prefer to complain that it takes too much effort to be productive. We are provided many leads to call and it does not take a 4 year degree to explain what we do. But you do need to want to help the clients and be cheerful about wanting to come to work.

There is a certification available. It requires studying and showing a knowledge about all aspects in our field. It requires a substantial monetary commitment and my company is willing to pay the fee required for the class and certification, if enough aptitude is shown for our industry. I was lucky enough to earn this distinction. Not many companies go through the expense of providing the fee for this certification and they are proud when their employees reach this level of productivity. And I appreciated the recognition they gave me after I earned this certification.

Not everyone has the cash to pay a lawyer to help them. If they did they would just pay their debt off with the cash. For the people who no longer afford their debt they must find help. This company has a proven track record with helping these people.

Mesa Rock is a growing company. They have aspirations of being the largest in our industry. There are some people that sneak through the interview process and convince the managers that they have the necessary commitment to become successful. In this instance he just wanted the hourly check. They did give him the opportunity to improve his Web Surfing Skills and to keep up with what Yahoo.com thought was important news. I know there are a lot of people that lose their productivity surfing on the internet. Usually it is not during the first 2 weeks of a new job.

I hope Williamthegreat finds a place where he can surf the net and make all the money he needs. It was not here.

As for what our industry can do for debt problems. Talk with different professionals from all of your available options. And when affordability, necessity, productivity points you to Settlement look for our help.

Disgruntled employees turn in to vindictive Ex-Employees as is definitely the case here.

I am very pleased that getting fired has sparked something inside of him to make him put in a little effort toward something. Next job I pray that he will put in that effort Before he is let go. I personally would have gotten rid of him 2 weeks ago (wait that is when he first came to work). I am happy to be employed by Mesa Rock and I hope they find a higher caliber of employee than Christianthegreat he obviously did not know what we do here.

I do not think many will believe the slant you have on a job you just lost, but I do feel your pain. I am not sure that I would appreciate being fired and I probably would not be objective in my views. But if you could have seen your work ethic through any one elses eyes you would not blame management for terminating you.

And I guess we are blessed that you did not go postal while you were here. But that again would have taken alot more energy than you ever showed. Good luck William in your quest for your next job. (you probably will not get much of a recomendation from Mesa Rock)

It is a shame that lazy unmotivated ex employees can post anonymously

AUTHOR: The Debt Dr 09 - (U.S.A.)

William was probably the laziest employee I have ever seen. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having to work for your money. I sat next to William "Christianthegreat" and he would find anything other than make phone calls to do. We receive request from potential clients that we are to call and provide information on our service. It was obvious from day one that he was not going to make calls. As far as uneducated people working at Mesa Rock Financial, I see something totally different. I personally have over 12 years experience in the financial industry and I take great offense to his comments. I find it totally amusing that he never once had any complaints until he was fired for not doing his job. In fact if William was so educated and so much better than everyone here what in the world did he take the job for? I personally know each and every person who works for Mesa Rock Financial in Houston and all have great morals and character. Ray our Director is a very caring and trustworthy individual. Ray has more experience in his pinky than William "Christianthegreat will ever hope to obtain. William appears to be one of those people who can't make it so he wants to make people believe the deck was stacked against him. It is funny how uneducated felons and used car salesmen are able to hold and keep a very gratifying job when he can not. We pride ourselfs on helping our clients first and foremost before being compensated. William grow up and hold yourself accountable for your own misfortunes. Take care and best of luck! Charles
