I hired Michael R Bruggemna for a small paper work case, He did nothing except got paid.
He was impossible to get in touch with and would occationally send email of every excuse in book, death in family, vacation ,out of country, another death , another vacation, hige capital murder trial etc....
Then say My case was almost done, but no details. finally he became unresponsive and I fired him. (he was already paid in full)
My new lawyer requested records he was unresponsive after some more time he finally sent a folder but it did not contain a single drop of record Michael R bruggeman had done anything . It only contained my papers.
the only thing we know is my cancelled check for thousands of dollars. Michael R bruggman got paid and did zero in return.

If you paid him (as retainer) and could prove that he did nothing for you, you should be able to ask for refund even though there may be a clause saying "no refund" in the contract you sign. The reason is that if there is no service render for you at all, you could take him to a small claim court and usually judge will award the refund because there is simply "no service" to you. You could also report his action to the State Bar Association of the state where he has the license for as well (if you want to).
