While this is not a direct response from a consumer of Todd  Spenlas business dealings- so called businessits believed that no real business actually takes place between TS and his clients. He is fraudulent corrupt and crooked. THIS IS a landlord beware notice, and tangentially retailed to all the other postings on the Internet. Todd Spenla has been evicted, yet again. On Aug. 13, 2011 a NYC Marshal placed an eviction and order to vacate letter on the door of his apartment.  Just a small amount of research reveals that this is probably his third eviction. There are probably more.

Landlords beware, because he never paid his rent the entire eight months he lived in the apartment on the lower east side. He and his partner lived for free. Causing much disruption, endless disturbances and even taunting of other neighbors, TODD SPENLA and his partner were the worst tenants EVER to live on Lower East Side. [continued below]....
..... Pathologically lying from month to month in order to maintain a residence, finding ways not to pay the rent, he managed to stay in the apartment for eight long months. He is truly a creepy person. All the other residents of the building suffered deeply while he (they) resided there as tenants.

The police came to the building about a dozen times within that eight-month period, as they were causing disruptions to the entire neighborhood- A result of the couples constant fighting. NYC LANDLORDS BEWARE! Never rent an apartment to this guy. The neighborhood is such a better place without him.

REVENGE EVICTIONS

Mr Spenla's apartment suffered from severe cold and a cockroach infestation among other violations. Following an environmental health inspection the council served notice on the landlord to fix the property.  The landlord's family decided to evict Mr Spenla & re-let the apartment instead. It's sad that the person posting this complaint did do the due diligence regarding the true facts behind this eviction and maliciously went on to claim other instances of evictions without any documents providing proof. The percentage of renters in the private rented sector being victims of revenge evictions is rising every year, basically when the landlord evicts their tenants for no reason than that they complained about a problem. With millions of people renting privately, what at first appears a small minority translates to hundreds of thousands. Landlords can carry out no-fault evictions where they don't have to give any reason under section 21 of the Housing Act 1988. The vast majority of landlords look after their properties and arrange repairs when problems arise, but a small percentage of rogue landlords use section 21 to evict tenants in retaliation for them asking their landlord to bring the property up to par. Unsanitary and unsafe conditions such as exposed electrical wiring, severe damp, or serious infestations are ignored, and those who complain about them like Todd Spenla did were evicted. Yet another posting by a scorned ex of Mr Spenla's trying to discredit a good man. The police were called by the same ladnlord trying to compile false records of phone calls to the local precinct hoping it would weigh in with the judge, incredibly enough no reports were ever filed by NYPD.
