at its best!

I have a Classic 1948 Dodge sedan and instead of taking it to a mom and pop i decided to take it to a "Shop" and have my breaks checked. After 2 hours i was told that i needed Wheel cylinders, brake pads, master cylinder Ect............ Well after asking what the charge would be and 30 minutes later i was told 933.79, so i said go ahead and just replace whats on the list and call me when its done. 3 days later i get a call that the pads didn't fit and the Master cylinder was ok but not perfect so i said just forget the pads and put the wheel cylinders and what you have and that would be fine.

I asked since the only service aside from inspection and labor and 6 wheel cylinders what is the remaining charge??? 893.89!!!! what that's almost what he told me was with everything including the pads so i ask how much were the cylinders and he couldn't recall but said there rare and hard to get??? Even with the usual mark up of 200% total cost should have been 459.00 including labor since that job takes 2 hrs max and a high rate of 100.00 per hr shop fees. I need info if this guy is crazy or what the h*ll. Never will i go here again ever!!!!!!!

Yeah that is weird

AUTHOR: jv520 - (United States of America)

Wow thank's for that update man, i have the invoice for six and the pads yeah i know it's shoes sorry but yeah. I started the car this morning to try to move it and now it won't move at all in first gear feels like they reassembled the shoes wrong and there stuck i have a certified mechanic coming tommarow to check the work they did and i'm not going to touch it till he lets me know in writing what's wrong i have contacted a lawyer already and just waiting for the mechanics list and anything else that might have been damaged by them. I notified the owner that i will have it checked and the shoes, wheel cylinders, Master cylinder were tampered or installed wrong i will be filling full charges and if he does not want to be taken to court he needs to either refund my money or repair it correctly asap. He has not responded at all.

Something funny here....

AUTHOR: Tucson - (United States of America)

Just a couple of thoughts regarding the Midas complaint.....

I've used them and got great service, but a couple of things
stand out as strange about the complaint:

A 1948 Dodge will NOT have pads on the brakes, disc brakes
were not in use until the 1960's....

and 6 wheel cylinders? There is ONE cylinder per wheel for
a maximum number of FOUR on a 48 Dodge.

The aftermath

AUTHOR: jv520 - (United States of America)

Well i went to pick up the car and they claimed to have fixed it paid then when i went to start the car the breaks fell to the floor!!!!! i went inside and complained to Sergio and said the breaks are worse then when i had brought it in. Asked if they could look at it and make it safe and they wanted to charge me 700 for the master cylinder!!!!!! I tried to get a partial refund since the car was worse and said i'll pay for the parts just refund the rest and i'll be on my way and NO!!! called the manager no answer had to have a tow take it home. When the driver of the tow truck looked at it he master cylinder since he has a similar car too put a wrench and fixed the problem presto!!!!!! What a bunch of losers at Midas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well i  filed fraud charges for non services at the bank. I'm out 900 in cash but i'm going to have sears fix it and look at what they did and if they didn't fix my cylinder seals like promised i'm going to file charges. The main manager called me 3 hrs later and was the rudest person and said he has lawyers and to do what i have to do. Do not do go  there what so ever and never trust them with any repairs i repeat do not do go THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a bunch of ripoff artist they are.
