so...i had my car checked out by a friend with a car computer diagnostic unit and it said i needed an abs senser replaced. i went in to midas and told them that. they said i needed a whole new brake system for $1200 and i told them to reassemble it i was getting another opinion. they turned the caliper 360' so that the line kinked. the next 3 miles i was smoking and locked up. another mechanic replaced the brakes and told me midas had sabotaged my car by twisting the brake line. other midas shops are more honest.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Midas 23rd street

AUTHOR: Owner of Midas - (United States of America)

The customer in question came to our shop with a brake issue.  He had brake work done in Florida I believe, and came to our shop because he was still having problems (brakes smoking).  We performed a brake inspection, where the wheels are removed, but the pads, rotors, and calipers are left in place.  We provided him with a written estimate, of approx. $1,200.00.  He didn't have the money, so he told us to put the wheels back on and he would leave.  We did so, and then a few days later, he came back claiming we damaged his vehicle, and he took it somewhere else, and it was going to cost about $1,200 to fix.  He took us to court, and the case was dismissed. I could complain about anything I want to with this services, whether it's true or not.  You should contact someone to get their side of the story before posting.  I'll be glad to show copies of the court papers to anyone who asks.

AUTHOR: Roma W. Loudermilk II - Mgr. Midas - (United States of America)

I am the Manager of the location in this report and have been since 2008.  Upon seeing this report I immediately tried to locate a quote, estimate or invoice for this customer.  His name does not appear in our data base at all.  I then went back and pulled the hard copies for the entire month that he stated he was in our repair shop as well as the prior month and once again I found absolutely nothing.  Next I went to our corporate web site and checked for a any complaints registered during the first two months of 2009.  Again I found absolutely nothing.

I have also called information in attempt to get Mr. Citchr's phone number so he could be contacted directly but there are no listing for anyone with that name.

As a last resort I went back through the hard copies for three weeks prior to this report and the most expensive brake quote or invoice I was able to locate was for $564.37.

Since the beginning of my employment with Midas I have made very effort to employ honest, ASE Certified employees.  If anyone has any questions as to the validity of this claim or as to the status of any ASE Certified employee at this location, please feel free to contact me directly.
