I visited Midas on Thursday evening to prepare my vehicle for a trip that I would be taking the following morning. They changed the oil, rotated the tires, and pumped air in the tires. After leaving Midas, I went directly home. The next morning, when I was to be leaving for my trip, one of my tires was completely flat. After further inspection, it also looked like the Midas mechanics had left all the air valve caps off, which is an obvious sign of negligence. Due to the high likelihood that this was not a random coincidence, I called Midas and spoke with Leon, the manager on duty.

I began to explain the problem and my dissatisfaction with the delay it caused on my trip, along with the overall negligence of the maintenance performed. Instead of a simple apology or explanation, Leon told me that the flat was my fault for running over a sharp object and he immediately became defensive, talking over me, laughing at my accusations, and yelling at me. I have never been spoken to in such a demeaning, condescending, nasty way. When I asked to speak to the owner, Leon told me that he was out of the country until the end of the following week. By the end of the conversation, I felt completely disgusted by the situation and hung up the phone on Leon as he was in the middle of yelling at me.

The following Monday, after returning from my trip, I returned to Midas with the flat tire so that they could inspect it. Luckily, Leon was out that day and the owner, Gary, was there (proving that Leon had lied to me when he told me that the owner was out of the country). I explained the situation to Gary. He then took my tire and found that, sure enough, the leak was caused by their negligence (although he never would admit this, nor give me an apology). They fixed the leak and put the tire back on my car. I am still concerned that the tire wall may be damaged, but I want to cut all ties and move on.

Although I am not requesting a settlement, I feel that the manager, Leon, has absolutely no business working in the customer service industry. He is a terrible representative of the company and he should be fired. If Midas had any regard for customer service, they would have replaced the damaged tire along with replacing the spare tire, because their negligence caused the issue in the first place. Unfortunately, I didn't even get a simple apology. I will never even consider doing business with another Midas again and I will be passing along my terrible experience to everyone I know.

Basically

Basically this poster is mad because the manager had the BALLS to stand up against their abuse. You can see it all over their post. Im betting this poster is as dumb as they get. They are transparent. By their own words they state they were being abusive. As this is a conversation over the phone and NO face to face contact, the poster had to be REALLY running their mouth. Name calling and assigning blame, you know the usual idiotic consumer issues. As it is over the phone, the other party has the JOY of hanging up on you, since the manager did not do this, one can use logic and common sense to see the WHOLE situation.

Odds are that it was either a leaky valve stem or the poster DID run over something that caused it to go flat. Its PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that the poster has ZERO idea how tires work. Im betting they actually have zero idea on how ANYTHING works. Since the poster is IGNORANT of how tires work, they ASSUMED that the workmen damaged their toy. When this poster called up to COMPLAIN, the manager told them that the caps had NOTHING to do with keeping air in the tire. Im sure they offered to air up the tires and replace the caps. But given the venom this poster has shown, one can safely assume that the request from the manager wasnt good enough. The reality is that kids could have come by and stolen your caps. A EX could have come by and let the airs out of your tire while you slept. There are MANY other factors it COULD be.

I dont care how much money you spent. I dont care who the hell you THINK you are. I dont care if youre the pope. IT DOESNT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO ABUSE ANOTHER. No employee is paid enough to put up with ANY abuse. That INCLUDES the manager. What you have done can get you arrested. If a cop saw you acting that way in public towards another human being, they would tell you once to stop, and if you didnt, they would restrain you and possibly arrest you. Just because you are speaking, doesnt mean its NOT abuse.

YOUR IGNORANCE and YOUR ATTITUDE are what has caused you this situation. Get over yourself princess. The world doesnt revolve around you!! Im tempted to contact that store and see if their corporate lawyers want a crack at you for your lies online. YOU have presented YOUR LIES AND OPINIONS as fact and have posted it on a media outlet. YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM THE AMMO TO SUE YOU!!! I definatly want to thank and cheer on that manager. Its about time businesses start treating the abuser the same way they treat others. Im not saying EVERY business is perfect. What I am saying is that this situation is of YOUR own doing and when they sue you, you will have no one to blame but your own ignorance and attitude.

Lack of Customer Service

AUTHOR: lcooper - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Ken -

I realize that the caps are not the reason the air leaked out of the tires, but it is a SIGN OF NEGLIGENCE. I took the spare tire to a tire expert before going back to Midas to ensure that my driving was not the cause of the flat tire. They ensured me that Midas had broken the seal on the tire and that it was of no fault of my own. In addition, they told me that because the tire had been deflated completely, the tire wall had been weakened, therefore the tire is damaged. While Midas eventually fixed the broken seal, that is not the basis of my complaint. If you had read thouroughly, you would have seen that my complaint is about the total lack of customer service by Leon. He treated me with total disrespect and literally laughed at my accusations. This man does not deserve to have a job in any type of customer service industry. I paid Midas to perform a service and part of that service includes quality customer service. In the end, I had to fight to actually get what I wanted.

Do not assume that I am clueless when it comes to my vehicle. I know what I'm talking about, and I don't need a simple mechanics lesson from you, sir. Have a great day.

Not sure what the problem REALLY was, but...

"After further inspection, it also looked like the Midas mechanics had left all the air valve caps off, which is an obvious sign of negligence." This will NOT cause the air to leak out. All the cap does is keep dirt out of the valve to prevent future problems. Repeat, this will NOT cause an air leak. Sometimes when adding air to a tire, a valve can stick when the air is removed and cause a slow leak. That may have been what happened in your instance. How do you know the tire is damaged? Did you drive on it while it was flat? If so, that's on YOU. Yes, they should have replaced the caps, but you're blowing it all out of proportion. BTW, what negligence on their part caused the leak? You said they found the leak was negligence on their part, but they didn't admit it. Seems a little odd, doesn't it?
