My parents own one car. They are both on SSI and make only $850.00 a month on SSI. The car was over heating. I suggested they go to MIDAS to have them take a look at it. I had never had bad service from them. I was comfortable sending them to MIDAS.

They looked at the car and said they knew what was wrong with it and they could definatly fix it for $450.00. My parents dropped off the vehicle and left it for three days.

They paid the $450.00 and got it back. The next day they were on the way to a doctors appointment and it overheated again! Luckly I had AAA and got it towed home.

They drove it to MIDAS the next day; and it overheated on the way. They said they could "look into it, for $45.00 an hour." WHAT A RIP! They took 1/2 of my parents money, with no question --- didnt even fix the problem and now want to charge $45.00 an hour to look at it again! DREAM ON!

I am severely sorry I referred my parents to them. I will never use them again and Im telling EVERYONE never to use them!

I am now sharing my vehicle with them and getting rides from people from my work so they can go to doctor appointments!

*****MIDAS is a RIPOFF!*****

we never looked at the car

AUTHOR: Midas Of Maryville - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 17, 2008

brenda reports that we looked at the vehicle and that we knew exactly what was wrong. we have documented paperwork for this vehicle stating. "customer provided parts, customer started repair first and then towed vehicle to midas to finish repairs" we did not look at or diagnose or reccomend him to replace the water pump he diagnosed the vehicles problem on his own then realized after taking apart the front of the motor that he couldn't do it. so he towed it to us to put it all back together for him. this is a fraudulent complaint simply by stating that we looked at the car and knew exactly what was wrong.and could definetly fix it. so lets get this story correct and factual. brenda's father's car was overheating. he himself decided that the water pump was bad for whatever reson and decided that he was going to fix it himself..later realizing that this was more complex than he thought he call us and asked if we could try to put it all back together for him. never once befor or after the repair did he request us to double check to make sure that was the problem. we made several reccomendations to this gentlemen and he declined everything and only wanted us to put the car back together.it's not our fault that this did not fix his problem. he came back 4 days later with it overheating and did not want to have a proper diagnoses done which is only $29.99 he for somereason feels we'r responsible for all of his current problems. brenda's father or possible brenda is not telling the full truth of this incedent. anyone!!!! is welcomed to call and we will show you the repair bill that clearly states that he took it all apart and that there is no warranty or guarantee that this will solve his overheating issue so please someone tell me what we did so wrong. is someone comes to you and says hey this is whats wrong i tried to do it myself but can't can you put it back together for me. and you wanting to help do put it back together and it does not fix it should you be blamed and slandered because of someone elses missdiagnosis. lets be fair here saying were taking advantage of these people is wrong, now if we looked at it first and said hey the water pump is bad and replaceing it would definetly fix it and it doesnot then i can understand the complaint but thats not!!!!! what happened
thank you

call us

AUTHOR: Midas Of Maryville - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 17, 2008

we would love to have brenda give us a call so that she can be informed of what actualy happened. i dont think brenda has been informed of the whole story. her father of his own free will for whatever reson decided to try and replace his water pump on his car in his own front yard. this location never even looked at the vehicle. her father called us and stated that he has taken apart the whole front of his vehicles motor trying to replace the water and relizes that this is not something he was able to do by himself. he asked if he could have his vehicle towed to us and have us put his own supplied part on his vehicle and put everything that he took apart back together. we said yes and gave him a price over the phone to do the requested service for him. he was informed prior to any repairs being done that because the car was towed to us, halfway taken apart, and diagnosed by him condeming the water pump as the reson his car was overheating that we could not warranty or guarantee that this would solve his problem. we have this well documented on both the estimate and final repair invoice. while doing this requested repair for him we did offer several reccomendations to him while everything was apart already to replace the thermostat/timming belt he declined stating that this was what was wrong with the car.and for us to just replace the waterpump...several days later he pulled in to our shop and said the car was overheating. his vehicle was "immediatly" pulled in.there did not appear to be any loss of fluid..but we noticed that the radiator fan was not comming on. we explained to him that the water pump seems ok and that everything you took apart and we put back together seems fine.we informed him that we noticed the fan was not opperating at this time that he may have another or several issuse with the vehicle, we informed him instead of taking gusses at what was wrong to allow us to diagnose the vehicle the charge is $29.99 not and i repeat not $45.00 an hour. brenda's father declined to have any diagnostics done. we offered to tow his vehicle for him. as he sould not be driving the vehicle as a overheating car can create engine damage he declined that offer as well. noone not even brenda has called us what so ever about this issue. we would love for her to give us a call so we can try to help. its unfair to file this type of complaint against a company that has been activly involed in their community for 15 yrs. we do not and will not tolerate anyone young or old to be taken advantge of. but our job is to help the customer with their request. when a customer calls us and asks if we can put something back together for them were going to say yes. we should not in any way shape or form be accused of any wrong doing if that does not fix their problem. they requested us to do that. we did not diagnose the vehicles overheating problem, the car was not even in a drivable or starting condition when it was towed to us. he had the whole front of the motor torn apart. so what are we supposed to do. tell him no you have to put it back together yourself. and then bring it back to us.no we told him yes we will be happy to help which we did. we did everything
we were asked to do "put his water pump on his car, and put it all back together"
we are sorry that these individuals are having further car troubles and are offering to look at the current overheating issue at no charge. so please call us back brenda. my name is jimmy..... thank you

full story behind complaint

AUTHOR: Midas Of Maryville - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 16, 2008

one thing brenda is not reporting here is that her father started to replace the water pump on his own in their front yard and after having taken apart the front of the motor realized this is not a repair he was going to be able to do by himself. so mr.burpee called us and then had the vehicle towed to our shop so we could finish the job for him. we had several reccomendations for mr.burpee
and he declined any further repairs and only wanted us to put his water pump that he provided to us back on his vehicle. which we did. several days later mr.burpee
pulled into our garage with the vehicle overheating we immediatly went out to look at the vehicle for him to see if possibly the water pump that he provided to us was leaking or not working correctly and everything that we had done seemed to be fine. mr.burpee obviously had another issue with the vehicle or it could be the same issue that he was trying to fix to begin with. this shop never looked at or diagnosed mr.burpee's overheating issue. we informed mr.burpee that there would be a charge of $29.99 to check the overheating issue not $45.00 and hour.
mr.burpee declined. for us to do that. we do not offer any kind of warranty to a customer who provides there own part and or starts to do the repair and then cant finish it. i would agree with brenda if and only if we had looked at and diagnosed the overheating issue first and reccomended to replace the water pump.
but we didn't mr.burpee called us told us his car had been overheating and that he was trying to replace the water pump himself and couldn't.if we would finish the job for him. we have been at this location for 15 yrs and are very active in our local community. we do not nor will we tolerate any of our customers being taken advantge of.
