Midas Midas touch turned oil change to engine freeze. Tucson, Arizona
At first I thought, "Did Midas forget to put oil back in?" As my mechanic took a better look, he noticed the oil filter was missing. While there was damage to the bottom of the car because Sebring's are low to the ground, there was no damage to any part of where the oil filter is placed. The next day I typed up the situation and brought the letter to Midas and told them what happened. The manager had me tow the vehicle to their location and told me to contact "corporate" and file a claim; so I did.
To my surprise, Midas denied my claim saying that there is visible damage to the bottom of my car and that the oil filter was ripped off. To my eye, being a former mechanic, and to my mechanics eye, this is not possible at all. The threads of the oil filter housing are completely intact, which means if my oil filter would have been "ripped off" there would be a lot of damage. There is no way my oil filter disappeared due to an accident by my fault. The mechanic that changed the oil in my car either forgot to put an oil filter, or did not place it properly and it fell off by their doing. The only thing that was ripped off, in this situation, was me.
