So i take my car into midas repair shop, from seeing the commercials and how 'honest' they really are is a crock of s**t, i took my car in because my sway bars were making a weird sound, tech told me i needed new sway bars for the front and new links but the backs he could not get because i had to get them for the dealership but he said the fronts are what needs replaced, i said thanks for your honesty go ahead and do it, after completion there was no sound!!!!

the bill was around $400. So afterwards i went to the dealership and they said if its making the sound i described they said all i needed were the links!!! (note-the cheaper part) so i say ok, take my car to one of friends houses and he has had several mx-6's and knows everything about them he said midas RIPPED U OFF!!!!, so i call and they give me the run around, nothing happens.

Months later my car when coming to a stop my car was making a weird sound on the passenger front tire, took the car to midas and they said a bolt came out of the caliper, and the bolt can be bought from the dealership, every bolt i got from dealership and NAPA was the wrong one, eventually got one for free at a junkyard, but midas are *ssholes and would not put it in, and they also charged me 60 dollars for the time they did not even take to take off the wheel and figure out the problem, michael rivers the manager said tough s**t, i said nice free brake inspection u guys advertise, DOWN WITH MIDAS, BURN THOSE MOTHERS TO THE GROUND.

NOT ALL CHAINS WORK THAT WAY !

AUTHOR: Rick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 21, 2004

I am an owner of one location of a large national franchise repair chain. I'd just like to let you know that there are many shops and owners who DO NOT work that way ! My mechanics are paid HOURLY ONLY so that there is NO INCENTIVE WHAT SO EVER for them to suggest work to customers that is not needed. They do not care if your job is $50 or $500....they get paid the same. I have a busy shop because of our reputation fro ohnesty, quality work, and fair prices. THERE ARE GOOD ONES OUT THERE !

How car repair chains work

AUTHOR: C - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 06, 2004

I really feel for you, since I had almost the same experience with another car repair "chain". These guys or girls, work on a commission scale. each job they do they recieve so much money. Example an oil change they may make $5.00 but on a brake job they may make $25.00 etc etc, it is actually in the persons intrest to charge you for more work then what is needed.

The last I knew (about a year ago), Midas worked in this same way.
What I suggest you do, is keep any supporting evidence, bills and other peoples estimates etc.. and call they main headquarters and complain. If that doesn't work, take them to small claims.

It costs about $25.00 to file and they probably won't show up so you'll automaticly win.
I always get more then one estimate from different chains because of this.

One chain said I needed a $1,000 brake job and another rebutted that and told me it should only be a $300 job. Always go to more then one place.
