I choose this jeweler because I thought they were a reputable company.  My father bought a bracelet from this company with the understanding that if he needed to return ithe would have to receive a store credit.  That was no problem.  As it turns out he did end up returning the bracelet and receiving the store credit.  A few months later my husband lost his wedding band, and we returned to Milanj for a replacement.  My dad was anxious for us to use the store credit. We had insurance on the band, and Milanj was an acceptable company. 

Fast forward to the time that we went to pick up the ring.  David the manager was not in the store that day, but one of the other sales associates was there and gave us the ring.  The ring that I bought was $2,842.92.  On the receipt it says that the ring is being replaced by the insurance company.  The insurance company covered the lost ring for $2,200.  That left a balance of $642.92 on the ring.  The store credit was $2,404.08.  That means that the balance on the store credit is $1761.16.  Unfortunately the sales associate was unable to figure out how to complete the transaction, but he assured us that as soon as David returned to the store we would receive a copy of the balance for the store credit. 

I started emailing david November of 2011 about this issue. After Thanksgiving David responded to my email and said that he would get back to me about this issue.  I did not hear back from him, and sent another email asking about the store credit on January 29, 2012.  Still no response, so I sent another email on February 29, and he responded on March 1- asking me if he understood the situation about the money.  

I responded six days later that he was correct, and another month went by without a word.  David informed me that he was at a funeral and would look into the matter.  I emailed him again in May and June.  No response.  This continues until February.  I told him that I would be coming into the store.  He assured me that I woudl be receiving a receipt for the store credit in the mail in two days.  I received a $500 dollar store gift card that had more restrictions about not using it on sale items or specific diamonds.

I let David know that this was not acceptable and that I would like to come in and purchase a ring on the remainder of the store credit.  He did not respond.  He still has not responded and it is May of 2013!  I am extremely disappointed in the experience that I had with Milanj and I wish I had done more research before trusting them with my business. 

It has been far too long, and they still have my $1761.16.

I wanted to update my situation.

 

David from Milanj contacted me immediately after I posted my complaint and agreed to the store credit as I layed out in the file.

 

I went to the store yesterday and purchased a beautiful pair of diamond earings.
