Search TipsIt sounds like the model that they suggested just is not working, and she probably needs either a different model of the same size or a Behind the ear hearing aid, which should be easier for her to get in and out,and it is much more powerful.
Wax does affect hearing aids,I am sorry that the person did not explain that to you.
What happens is since hearing aids are so small, the wax will get into the receiver and clog it up. If the Hearing Specialist is not able to get all of the wax out, then it should be sent to our factory to replace the receiver.
What I tell my patients is to have their doctor remove the wax,and keep the ears clean,so this does not happen.
Also,it is very hard for us to have "walk in" patients that have no appointments. The reason is because we do schedule appointments every hour,or every 30 minutes, not giving us a break in between.
I try to have my patients always schedule an appointment so that I know I am able to spend enough time needed with them.
Bottom line is this: She can't hear, and she is frustrated because of that. She is frustrated that she can't get the aids in,and therefore she has given up. When we are dealing with our elderly parents,we have to be patient and try to help them.
Call your office and make an appointment.
If you want, ask them to have their district manager come in on that day.
Stay there with your mom,and have them show her how to put the aids in,using a mirror and do not leave until you both feel comfortable with the situation.
I wish you the best of luck, and please update us on your outcome.
