My girlfriend was walking in the mall and they come up to her and said our daughter is beautiful and that we should consider putting her in modeling. This is their way of getting you because everyone thinks their child is beautiful and that their kids belong in modeling so to hear it from a so called professional is amazing, so of course my girlfriend signed up.
They setup an appointment for us the same week Sunday 8/19/12 at 10am and they told us to bring 4 photos of my daughter.
Sunday morning My daughter wasn't feeling to good so we called and tried to reschedule and they told us no that we can not. So i gave my daughter so Tylenol and we went just to hear them out. When we first got their the place looks amazing and fancy, the employees were dress nice and fancy, anyways so we signed in and we waited.
The MTD employees try to act very busy and they make you wait for a long time. I waited with my daughter close to 4 hours before being seen. Within those 4 hours I took several walks outside I seen a group of their employees just hanging out outside doing nothing for like 15 to 25 minutes every time I took a walk.
They finally called us in and we spoke to one of their Directors. We showed him the photos that in of my daughter and he said he was observing her and he liked her. He said he had to speak to his supervisor to see if they want to work with her. He came back in like in 8 minutes and said yes they want us. *HERE COMES THE SCAM* He explain how the company work that they will market our daughter and if anyone is interested that they will call us and send us to their location. He said that we need to have a comp card which includes 1 Head shot and 4 other shots. Now he gave us a list of packages, there were 4 options. We chose to do the second to last option which included 1 head shot and 4 other shots but with one outfit which cost $750. He said he really liked us and that we were young so he would give us a discount if we do it right now because the Mark-Up Artists and the photography was there so he would knock it down to $500. Now that's a big discount so who wouldn't jump on it right. So we signed the contract at 8/19/12 at 6:10pm.
Anyways So we asked him if they would cover our daughter the bruises she had on her legs (clumsy baby) and he said yeah they would put make up on it. So we finally went to the so called make up artist and all she did was picked my daughter hair up and clipped it then we asked about the bruises and she said they will Photoshop it. Now at this time i should have left because my stomach was turning and i bad feeling about it but my girlfriend wanted to stay so we stood. Now time to do the photo shoots.
The lady called us in and told us to put her behind the block and took pictures. Then she told us put her in the chair, now remember we been there close to 6 hours already so my daughter was cranky so she keep taking pictures of her doing the same thing and told us that it. To go in front and make an appointment to view the pictures, so we did.
Monday morning I searched the company up and I found a couple of complaints and how they work and what they say and do, it was exactly what i went through. They have scammed so many people Im surprise the company is still running. Anyways so I called them Monday night left a message. I also called my back and explain that I wanted to cancel the transaction which they could not do and they told me to wait until it goes through so I can dispute it. I waited until Tuesday afternoon and no one called us back. We finally called them again and we spoke to the secretary about the contract and asked how to cancel it and she said she had no idea and to follow the steps behind the contract. We looked behind the contract and it said we had 3 days to cancel the contract and that we needed to send in writing certified mail that we wish to cancel within the 3 days. So we went to the post office and sent an express certified mail to them letting them know that we wish to cancel. Regular certified mail with have taken 2 to 3 days so we had to do express to make sure they got it before the third was up. The post office said they will get it by Wednesday 8/22/12 12pm.
We called them Wednesday to make sure they got the letter before 6:10pm. They told us that we can not cancel because they provide us the service. WHAT SERVICE? all they do was take pictures. We did not get a comp card and we did not even see the pictures. They told us to come in tomorrow which is Thursday 8/23/12 for our appointment and talk to the manager. I filed a a dispute charge with my bank and they told me they were going to refund the money and investigate. Now I don't know if i should go tomorrow or just let the bank take care of it. I just have a feeling if i go they going to say that i saw the pictures and that they provided me the service that is on the contract. The service on the contract was to get a comp card which i did not get.
This was my experience with them and I'm pretty sure a lot of people went through the same thing. My advice is just stay away from them. I will update as soon as everything clears up. Hopefully this gets resolved asap.
