I bought a Moment-O-Meter as part of the process for a job as a sales manager for Green Technologies MFG, Inc.  I was told to use the device and after saving at least 20% on fuel from the use of this device, that Tom Delor, owner of the company would hire sales representatives that I would manage.  I had to pay $348 for the device and when I got it, I installed it and used it for over two weeks to try and save fuel with this device.  I thought it sounded like a pretty good idea and I figured it would work.  However, I was not able to save any fuel by using it.  I notified Tom Delor, owner of the company and he said I could not get a refund because I was not eligible as a job applicant for a refund.  I asked him why I couldn't get a refund for a product that did not do what it says it will do and he accused me of extortion.  Threatened me with a law suit in Florida for extortion because I told him I was going to go through my credit card company to get a refund. [continued below]....

.....

Bottom line is this, the product looks like a radar detector and it simply has a red light when you are pushing on the gas pedal and a green light when you are not.  Unfortunately, I already know when I am pushing on my gas pedal and when I am not.  However, in order to proceed with the sales manager opportunity, I had to buy and try the device.  When I did, it didn't help me save anything and I was not satisfied with the performance.  The company would not offer a refund and threatened a law suit for extortion...  Seriously?  Because your product does not do what you say it does, YOU ARE GOING TO SUE ME FOR EXTORTION???  Hmmmm, sounds like you have some major issues backing up your product.  Sue me Tom, I welcome the opportunity because you are too dishonest to refund money for a product that does not work as it is presented!

I hope this report helps others that are approached with this great career opportunity that turned into a rip-off for me!  Good luck and God Bless!!!

LOL, Still Tom Delor...

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

This foreign guy barely speaks English and wants to talk about the free enterprise system???  I fell into his trap and the whole hiring scam a little over a year ago.  He does indeed force you to buy his product if you want the "job".  I really think it is the only way he can actually sell them...  It is indeed part of his hiring process which I do believe violates HR laws in numerous states.  There are NO REFUNDS because he doesn't want his piece of crap back either...  Once they have your money, you are stuck with a $350 paper weight...

Then he says he puts you through a class so he says???  The education provided is by none other than the president himself, barely English speaking Tom Delor and it is done on Skype.  It is everything you can do to even understand anything he says because his French accent is so dominant.

He also act as though he filed a lawsuit against me for extortion with the State of Florida...  That is not true and there was nothing more than a rip-off scam by Mr. Tom Delor from the very beginning.  They approach you via email, talk to you about a salaried position as sales director, then congratulate you for getting the job, then make you buy the Moment-o-Meter, they then explain the job is 1099 not W-2 salaried, no benefits, etc.  At this point you have already been required to buy the Moment-o-Meter from them and then you are just "hosed" with the little piece of junk called Moment-O-Meter...

The simple truth, stay away from this company and their scam.  I was ripped off out of $350 when I was unemployed because Tom Delor had me believing this was a real job!!!  It wasn't and his product is junk!  THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE AND THAT IS THE TRUTH!!!

How is that for the TRUTH Tom?  The other truth is you have no leg to stand on with some stupid extortion lawsuit.  You threaten everyone who tells the truth about your scam to sue them for extortion...  One would think that if you were a legitimate business selling a legitimate product, you would not have to be fighting with so many people all of the time, huh?

This is the land of the "FREE", unlike where you came from Tom...  We are not French, and it is not extortion to speak the truth about bad experiences in our great country!  We do so in order to point out con artists like yourself that prey on people when they need a job...  Shame on you for stealing money from innocent people that are unemployed and already down on their luck...  Eventually, you will get what you deserve and in the meantime, I hope no other people fall into your moment-o-meter scam!!!

I should have listened to the complaints

AUTHOR: LF - (United States of America)

I was brought on to be the national sales manager of this company. I had read all of the complaints and thought that it was just a bunch of disgruntled ex-employees. The interview process was almost too easy. Email resume, 2 phone interviews, and that was it. All that I had to do was buy the device at full retail price and then we were off to the races. I spoke to Tom about buying the device at cost. In my experience, you dont have your sales force, much less your national sales manager, buy your product at full retail. This turned out to be a huge deal. I was accused of trying to screw him and told that I didnt understand sales or the sales process. The following are the resulting emails that I sent and received:

From me:
I am certainly not trying to screw you. I understand your position on the purchase of the moment o meter. I do however feel that our conversation earlier has done more harm than good. I don't think that working together would be mutually beneficial as our vision of the potential sales force and the hiring practices of said sales force are quite different. I am sorry that our time has been mutually wasted in this venture. Good luck in your business future.

from Tom:

Based on your attitude I have second thought and I am not interested to argue with you if you change your mind every time we talk.  You wrote that you will train your salesmen to make demonstrations to fleet managers thus they will have to buy a device first which will be reimbursed once they sold a few units (we will discuss the quantity but I think that ten 10 would be a fair number).  You supposed to order your unit today but instead you tried to negotiate the price down to its cost and pretending that you didn't have your credit cards while being at the Doctors office...   which is contrary to the company's marketing principle that you suppose to learn during the training and teach the sales peoples. We at Green Technology MFG do business only on a WIN / WIN SITUATION by allowing the customers to PAY AS THEY SAVE because the Moment-O-Meter pays for itself.

High pressure fast talkers salesmen never deliver what they promised and will never be hired. Period.
If this is idea of the sales concept, you just lost your time.

I was ok with that.....nothing too bad

From Tom:

After careful consideration of your experience, skills and attitude, I regret to inform you that you did not meet the basic qualifications for the position of national sales manager.

I sincerely value your interest in our momentum indicator MPG PLUS and encourage you to continue to lobby to end our dependence on foreign oil by eco-driving.

Again, thank you for your interest in our exciting startup.

I wish you success in your career exploration.

Tom Delor, President.

Again, this was fine and I was happy to leave it at that. Here it what I received this morning from "Steve" their recruiter.

"you did everything to change Mr. Delor's decision and you lost your once in a lifetime opportunity.

He believes that your game plan was to screw the corporation to pay you because you are a hasbeen burned out salesman unable to sell anymore nor train sales peoples. If you are not a burned out then you must be a fricken idiot.

I deleted your job application and will block you for applying again for a sales related job in the future."

This company is a scam all the way. I hope this helps the next hasbeen burned out salesman that gets sucked into this.

Employment Scam and Horrible Recruiting Tactics

AUTHOR: anormine - (United States of America)

I was contacted by this company to interview for a National Sales Director role also. While I was researching this company I saw several scam reports.(including this one) I brought it to his "external recruiter, Steve's" attention and he first responded with another complaint (one that I didn't find online) stating that it was from a disgruntled employee.

I then showed him a link to this message and he cancelled the interview because of my "uncertainty". He said because I didn't believe him that this was nothing to worry about I was unprofessional - he then proceeded to call me an idiot because I questioned his tactics. Very professional company! Ha!

Just to show the type of correspondence this company offers - here are excerpts from Steve T's communications just today:
Amanda, I am not interested to further argue with you if after reading the complaint filed by one of  our customers against a frustrated employee (Mike) who published a bogus complaint to ventilate you still don't understand the Unconstitutionality of those web sites inciting anyone to publish a complaint to increase their traffic like the tabloids do.

Several people applied for the sales manager position and have more experience than you and even if you have a chance to be hired, the fact that you remain still a "bit hesitant" eliminates your candidature.

It takes a strong character and judgment to be selected for this startup and as a second taught I will advise Mr. Delor against the job interview with you as you demonstrated a lack of maturity.

Next:
Amanda, you are a fricken idiot for insulting me... and a racist on top.
I blocked you for emailing again. The fact that I got a few more emails from him (getting worse and worse) shows his lack of professionalism. Also why I am a racist I don't know - must have been offended that I mentioned he didn't speak proper English and I questioned his legitimacy and if he was even in this country.

I just don't want any other professional to waste their time with this scam company!

#8 Consumer Suggestion

Salesman jobs are usually shams...

AUTHOR: Lesley - (United States of America)

Sorry this advice is a little late, but a word to any future suckers out there.  MOST, if not ALL, salesman type jobs are pure scams.  Most tell you will receive great commission etc, and try to take advantage of those, like the author, who are needing a job in this tough economy, because most of the real jobs have been sent overseas, and salesman and burger flipper jobs are about all thats left for young Americans to do.  These would be outsourced too, if the companies thought they could pull it off.

Secondly, whenever you are asked for an investment up front, to just get your feet in the door in order to help the hukster huk people, that should be a BIG RED FLAG.  He is really just ripping you off, and hey, if you sell a few of these to vague people out there, that is good too.  If this was a legitimate company, you would get the demo model for free, a salary from the start, and benefits.

Also, if this piece of crap really had any potential, he wouldnt need salespeople to push it.  He could just start a website and let orders trickle in from word of mouth.

I know a lot of Gm cars have had something way more advanced than this as an option since at least the 80s, and as a previous poster stated, you can buy something better than this for most cars for a lot less money.  But hey I hate to say it, but if this screwball can make a profit with these toys, youve got to give him some credit, even though he will probably end up in jail or bankruptcy.  Look at the cola companies, they started out making mostly sugar water, and added caramel color only to cover up their dirty bottles when they were reused.  Multimillion dollar industry.  But dont get your hopes up.

Better gadget.

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

Why spend money on this snake oil gadget when there are better devices on the market.  I would recommend buying a GPS with ECO function, such as a garmin nuvi.

The eco function will help train a driver to have a "lighter foot," give you the cost of fuel while you drive, and you have a damn good road atlas for the continental U.S. and Canada.

Why would anyone want this gizmo with only 2 LEDs when there are so many BETTER devices available at a fraction of the cost?

Master Mechanic Jim here

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

It's obvious you're selling "Snake Oil" and hiding behind Legal terms.

Your device is entirely NOT NEEDED except as a training aid,

It's obvious that long engine /transmission life and good gas mileage depends on the soft accelerator foot pressure (True) But your device is only a "Training aid" NOT in itself a saving fuel device

Now if you marketed it as a "Training Aid" you'd be OK, but you're Not, so you're simply a huckster.

NO SALE

RONNY, YOU ARE RIGTH!

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

Ronny, you are absolutely right! The Moment-O-Meter does not save fuel per se because the lights indicate momentum and as you justly wrote: "it alerts you when to let off the gas pedal".

I invented the device because eco driving is not always easy as you have to think about everything opposing the car's inertia or popularly speaking, the car's momentum (i.e., front wind?, side wind? back wind?, road surface?, air humidity?, uphill?, downhill?, car's speed?, tire pressure? cruse control on?, excess weight?, engine properly tuned? etc. etc). It can be distracting to think about all that.

The Moment-O-Meter is a newly welcomed car instrument showing the driver when he can use the car's momentum (green light) or not (red light) and since it works exclusively by Newton's laws of motion it indicates the momentum (or lack of it) as it happens generating a Pavlovian reflex without even thinking. In other words, it makes eco driving easier and enjoyable. Beware that your cruse control can become a gas guzzler if used inconsiderably.

If Mike -who filed this bogus complaint- would have understood what you did, he would be our sales manager by now and market the device to fleet managers. But instead he thought making a smart move trying to extort me by publishing this bogus complaint. Now instead to have a job and feed his family of five children, he may have to hire an attorney to defend our claim if we decide to sue him for extortion and defamation.

Inertia..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

Inertia...definition: Inertia is the name for the tendency of an object in motion to remain in motion, or an object at rest to remain at rest, unless acted upon by a force. This concept was quantified in Newton's First Law of Motion.

So..how can this device save fuel? I guess it alerts you when to let off the gas pedal? Personally I have had great results by keeping my vehicles properly tuned, checking the tire pressure every 2 weeks, and letting off the gas when going down hill. I have to step on the gas to go uphill..I have to step on the gas to maintain my speed as no device other then cruise control can do this for me. Unfortunately for all of us..frictional forces..and gravitational forces require us to use gas no matter what.... if driving a gas powered vehicle and we wish to actually move forward.

YOU ARE FRUSTRATED BECAUSE YOU FAILED THE TRAINING

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

I know who you are because you are the one who failed our sales manager training program and QUIT before even starting, OUT OF FRUSTRATION OF NOT BEING ABLE TO LEARN ECO DRIVING.

Instead of learning how to use the device, you blame the DEVICE which is simply an instrument indicating the momentum when there is momentum. Knowing when the vehicle has a momentum allows the driver to react thus ECO DRIVING BECOMES EASY. Our comprehensible and free training program consisted of FIRST teaching YOU eco driving using the device to increase your MPG by at least 25% so that you can make demonstrations to fleet managers. But you never reached that level and QUIT. The laws of motions are the same for you as for any other driver and you could have learned to use the momentum instead of fuel to move your vehicle. BUT YOU RATHER QUIT OUT OF FRUSTRATION WHEN YOU REALIZED THAT YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TRAIN, MOTIVATE AND MANAGE OTHER SALES PEOPLES.

YES, YOU NEED TO BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE SELLING BUT...

IF WE CAN TAKE A HORSE TO THE RIVER, YOU CANNOT MAKE HIM DRINK.

IF SOMEONE CAN BE INFLUENCED BY YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS (ANONYMOUSLY), THEY DO NOT NEED TO APPLY FOR A SALES JOB BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THE KIND OF PROFESSIONALS WE ARE HIRING ANYWAY. SO THANK YOU TO SHOW WHAT A LOOSER CAN THINK WHEN THEY BLAME THE MESSENGER.

THIS IS NOT AN ACCELEROMETER

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

THIS IS A BOGUS COMMENT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT AN ACCELEROMETER BUT RATHER A PATENTED INERTIA INDICATOR.

Anonymity allows anyone from anywhere on the planet to write anything by disseminating false information to have fun or as under a precise agenda to destruct (I.e., anonymous competitor). People like your self making unfounded comments are the Internet parasites trying to destroy anything they can.

OUR GUARANTEED PRICE POLICY IS DISPLAYED ON OUR WEB SITE AS FOLLOWS:

If you find a device INDICATING THE VEHICLE'S MOMENTUM alike Moment-O-Meter within 60 days of your purchase at a lower price, we will reimburse you the difference and pay you 10% on top.

For the information of the person reading your comment, none of our customers requested a refund, except a discouraged employee who was fired during the training for sales manager (probably you, Mike) for having produced a fake resume and cheating by deceit during training.

Employment Scam???

AUTHOR: ZMAN - (United States of America)

I too have been victim of what I consider to be false employment claims. I am not here to say the product does or doesn't work, (It is VERY cheaply made) but I do believe that Tom is using this poor economy and the current (lack of) jobs situation to make money off of people who are looking for a GENUINE opportunity. He states in his employment ad that there is a $40,000 + salary as a Manager and after talking with him all one has to do is "BUY" one of his units and experience the wonder, sell some units and he will give you a salary as a Manager and hire sales people for you when this is accomplished.

I used the Moment O Meter for 3 weeks and was not impressed at all. As a salesperson I need to believe in what I am selling. After experiencing NO improvement in MPG and I saw how cheap it is and all the before mentioned issues with trying to make it work there is no way that I wanted to represent this product. I did not think the price met the value.

I contacted Tom and too tried to get a refund (Being out of work for some time $348.00 is a lot of money) I too was told that as a Rep, a refund was not an option. WHY? at this point I am a customer like any one else who paid money for one. This made absolutely NO SENSE. Right then I was glad I never sold any. With this kind of attitude with a potential salesperson, what would make you think he would treat any other consumer (or my customers)any differently??

Whether or not the unit works or will save the world is irrelevant. I see this whole thing as an employment SCAM. If this was a legitimate opportunity the units should be supplied for free or at least at cost, SHAME on me for being STUPID! If this reply saves at least one other out of work person $348 of their valuable money it is worth my time spent to post this information.

AUTHOR: Adolph - (USA)

Innocent until proven guilty? Holy  paranoia, Batman! Now toms taking the shotgun approach in deflecting the inarguably legitimate critique of his products cost, effectiveness and  validity .

.

Ripoff Report: Under attack!

Internet: Under attack!

.

Youre sort of off on a tangent, Tom.  Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, office of The Attorney General?  Attorney fees?  Im sure if youre successful in marketing your product at the current price making the claims you make, you may find yourself on a first name basis with some of the foregoing.

.

As to the Better Business Bureau (the private franchised entity many mistakenly think is some kind of governmental function) thats something you might consider pursuing. Pony up to their membership fees and you can probably gain their (**gag, choke**) esteemed A+ rating.

.

All of the bandwidth you consumed with the patent information is really amusing. There are thousands of patents issued on totally unworkable, useless items and ideas.  Having a patent on anything contributes nothing to its legitimacy. One may Google  worthless patents and a plethora of items are revealed including the not-so-successful Gravity Powered Shoe Air Conditioner and countless others. Hey! Theyre PATENTED too!

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY by Presdient Tom Delor

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

SEPT. 12, 2010 INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY by President Tom Delor.

Dear Reader: You came to this Rip Off Report web site because of your right and duty to investigate my company, the product we manufacture and the way we do business. You may be someone contemplating to buy our device or someone wanting to apply for a job. In both cases, I congratulate you for doing your diligent search. BUT I do believe that you have equally the right anmd duty to know how this Rip Off Report web site works and why and its role and rights in our Country.

As you know, the different customary ways to investigate a corporation or a product are through reputable unbiased organizations. The most populars are the Better Business Bureaus (BBB), the Office of the Attorney General (AG) or the Federal Trade Commissioner (FTC). These institutions will allow you to file a complaint at no charge -and the corporation to rebuke your allegation. If either of these agency after reviewing your complaint and the rebuttal determine that the complaint has no merit, they will close the file and the only remaining solution for the dissatisfied / frustrated customer is to take the case to the Court of law with the risk that if the complaint is found frivolous, the judge may dismiss the case and award attorney fees and costs to be paid to the corporation by the complainant. The three agencies cited above have an important role to play in our Country to maintain the good exchange of our commerce system and eliminate the ones braking the laws.

Rip-off Report ACTS TOTALLY DIFFERENTLY since it does not screen or review bogus reports submitted to their website (IT TAKES ONLY A FEW MINUTES). This mean that Rip-off Report ACTS TOTALLY differently from the official REGULATED Agencies by allowing anyone to PUBLISH DIRECTLY ANY COMPLAINT (BOGUS OR NOT) FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD TO SEE.

In fact it is Rip-off Reports official policy not to remove false reports even if they know that there is no evidence to support the claims being posted. Bogus reports will quickly move to the top of the Internet regardless of their accuracy or integrity.

Everything you read on the Internet requires verification and everyone should FIRST learn about Rip-off Reports history by surfing the Internet (i.e., GOOGLE Rip-Off Report) TO READ ANY ONE OF THE 329,300 existing ARTICLES) before jumping on the conclusion that the COMPLAINT WAS PUBLISHED WITH GOOD FAITH AND REPORTS THE FACTS.  be aware tha you will found out that many people published a BOGUS COMPLAINT on Rip-Off Report JUST TO BLACKMAIL (called extortion in my State of Florida) with the knowledge that the published bogus complaint will hurt the corporations good reputation for years to come.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TIME (OR THE EXPERTISE) TO REVIEW ALL MY REBUTTALS ABOVE TO MR. MORRIS COMPLAINT, CALL ME DIRECTLY DIALING MY PHONE NUMBER DISPLAYED ON MY WEB SITE @ (((Redacted)))

Modify your driving behavior..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

I was told as a kid..to put an egg under the accelerator pedal and if you do not crack the egg..you will get better gas mileage.

So it seems someone has invented a way to use an LED light to replace the egg.

But I have found through extensive scientific research and by not being a total moron...that if you simply drive like you have an egg under your accelerator pedal.."miraculously"..you will achieve better gas mileage and it won't cost you an egg..cleaning up the mess of a broken egg..or paying for an LED light to alert or notify you that you are applying pressure on the accelerator pedal.

This false complaint is not about the price

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

Since you are certainly not one of our customers using Moment-O-Meter, it is unfair and unethical to comment just to ventilate. Our Country does not need detractors. The price is what it is. and if you dont like it, then just dont buy it. But since you play a phony detracting game pretending you can build one for $11.00 put your expertise behind your comment and sell them $22.00 to retrofit each of the 257,000,000 registered vehicles in the USA. By the way, a full glass of water or coffee on your dashboard would be thousand times more efficient to show the vehicles momentum that your ridiculous suggestion to use an accelerometer and less expansive. Good luck.

A glass of water or a cup of coffee is a whole lot cheaper than $348.  I take it one determines acceleration / deceleration  as to whether the water / coffee lands in ones lap or spills all over the dash. Liquid in lap= BAD economy. Liquid remaining in container or all over dash, GOOD economy.

Thanks for the tip. Who would have ever thought of that? Youre truly a brilliant physics engineer. Im really jalouse of your esteemed knowledge.

Not an accelerometer

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

You disseminate the myth that an accelerometer shows the momentum of the vehicle.  You simply don't know what you are talking about.

Put a glsss full of water (or coffee?) on your dashboard and you will understand what momentum is each time you drive.

more information regarding the Momentometer

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

I needed to add that in the rather lengthy and full of bogus information report rebuttal that Tom Delor posted, all of the information he used against me in the rebuttal was pre-test of the product information.  In other words, I had made all of the positive statements about the Moment-O-Meter prior to ever trying it.  I was interviewing for a job via email.  This is where he got the positive statements which I made about his product.  The answers given were in response to a questionnaire that  I was required to answer PRIOR to being selected as the sales manager trainee for his company.  The answers I gave were found on his websight and were given while trying to earn an opportunity with the company.  AGAIN, I HAD NEVER TRIED THE MOMENT-O-METER YET AT THIS STAGE IN THE INTERVIEW PROCESS.  After filling out the questionnaire, I was selected as the sales manager trainee and that is when I was required to purchase the Moment-O-Meter prior to moving to the next step.

I was hesitant to order one and pay full price for it as you would think a reputable company would supply one for a sales person for the company.  However, I was assured that this was a legitimate opportunity and being unemployed at the time, I needed to find a job.  I was further concerned when I asked if they would provide some business cards and he told me to make them myself...  Nevertheless, I wanted to still give it a try.  I was told by Mr. Tom Delor that the next part of the process was to use the Moment-O-Meter myself and when I had successfully been able to save at least 25% in fuel costs, that he would start hiring sales reps to work for me.  Unfortunately, I NEVER SAVED A DIME so I let Mr. Delor know that after trying for 2 weeks to do so.  That is when I asked for a refund and was told that I couldn't get one.

This whole story started at that point but the bottom line again is this: IF YOU SELL A CHEESY PRODUCT AND IT DOESN'T DO WHAT YOU SAY IT WILL DO (save at least 20% or more in fuel), YOU SHOULD REFUND THE MONEY AND TAKE THE PRODUCT BACK!  You are a con man and a rip off artist and I hope others do not pay way too much for a momentometer (Moment-O-Meter) by Green Technologies to find it does not save them money either!

I believe in eco driving and I believe in saving fuel for our National Security.  Prior to trying the Moment-O-Meter, I believed in the concept as well which was pretty simple and I figured it should work.  Unfortunately, it does get off when you are not on a level surface, it needs to be adjusted constantly after hitting bumps in the road to continue to work, and it does not save me money as mentioned in the email.

Taking bits and pieces of a story and trying to confuse the issue is Mr. Tom Delor's way of feeling good about attempting to keep my $348 paid for a cheesy product that does not help me in any way...  Asking for a refund is clearly not extortion.  If someone pays for a product that clearly does not perform to the expectations when purchased, a refund shouldn't be difficult to achieve from a reputable company.

Purhaps if Mr. Delor understood the English language a little better, he would be able to understand the true meaning of extortion.  Heck he might even be able to spell jealous...  I will further add that if you believe that a 45 minute session on Skype trying to understand your broken French accent is some sort of company paid training program, you are certainly being misleading again!  I applaud your sense of urgency to deal with our National Security issues in the USA!!!  However, learning English and standing behind a product are a few basic concepts of the free enterprise system we have in our great country.  Ripping people off for $348 is really not!

I will deal with the $348 issue with my credit card company as that is the only way to get a refund from your company.  Seriously, this is the most rediculous situation I have ever dealt with and I truly hope others will be able to learn from my mistake doing any type of business with them!

A crude accelerometer.......

AUTHOR: Adolph - (USA)

After reading the lengthy report on the Moment-O-Meter, I was curious as to just what $348.00 was actually buying.  One may quickly determine it is a very crude , totally mechanical accelerometer.  Ball riding on a track triggering a green or red LED through two switches. This is absolutely the least expensive means of determining acceleration or deceleration. There are other solid state accelerometers NOT NEEDING LEVELING, for way  less money.   In addition, for less than half the price of the Moment-O-Meter one may purchase an actual MPG gauge which will connect to any post 1996 vehicle (and some earlier) and give a virtual plethora of information: trouble codes, (and clear set codes), speed, average speed, fuel rate, coolant temperature, distance to empty, engine RPM, maximum RPM, throttle position, manifold pressure, ignition timing (amount of retard) engine load, air intake temperature, coolant temperature, battery voltage, open or closed loop condition, MPG or liters / 100Km, $$$cost of trip, and more..

.

The gauge to which I refer is a ScanGauge II. I have two, one in my 9MPG motorhome and the other (currently) in my 32MPG  2006 Saturn (towed vehicle). They are absolutely a marvel of engineering taking advantage of the existing on board data from the vehicles ECM.  A person may immediately view EXACTLY what ANY driving habit does to actual fuel usage and cost.

.

Balls rolling in a (must be level) track?  Virtually the same information may be obtained by observing which pedal is being depressed.  Gas pedal = red LED. Brake pedal or coast = green LED.  (As the other party alluded in his entry)  I could VERY EASILY draw up plans for an equivalent Moment-O-Meter which could be built for less than $6.00; well, in a fancy case make that $11.00.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention generally relates to motorized vehicles, and more particularly, to an inertial mass detection device, which renders in a visible and/or audible manner the inertial mass of a moving vehicle for the purpose of reducing fuel consumption.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Efforts to conserve fuel derived from petrol usually used in motorized vehicles have become increasingly intense in recent years due to the rising cost of gasoline. Internal combustion engines are the most widely-used type of engine for automobiles and are also relatively inefficient. Therefore, recent fuel conservation efforts have included designing engines which are capable of consuming a variety of fuels including ethanol or gasoline/ethanol mixtures (also known as "gasohol").

Due in large part to limitations of the internal combustion engine, use of alternative fuels for automobile propulsion has not been widely adopted. Because of the highly accurate tolerances which are required in piston engines, use of more than one type of fuel without a general resetting of the engine is frequently not feasible.

The excessive weight of internal combustion engines has led to an emphasis on designing alternative types of propulsion devices and piston engines having fewer than eight cylinders. Some alternative types of propulsion devices include electric motors and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Hybrid electric vehicles typically include electric traction motors, high-voltage electric energy storage systems and modified transmissions. While it is necessary to use fuel energy to move and maintain an internal combustion vehicle in motion, once the vehicle is in motion it accumulates free inertial mass which can be harnessed by the driver's efficient driving responding to the device's indication.

In current use, there are millions of vehicles which are powered by internal combustion engines or a hybrid combination of electric and internal combustion engines. These vehicles are commonly acted upon by inertial forces during driving. Enabling operators of these vehicles to visualize the inertial forces which are not due to gravity and are acting upon the vehicle at any particular time, as determined by the second law of motion, can enable the vehicle operators to conserve fuel and avoid aggressive driving such as unnecessarily rapid acceleration followed by braking. By visualizing and learning to recognize and reduce aggressive driving, studies have found that gas mileage may be reduced by approximately 33 percent at highway speeds.

A cruise control system automatically controls the speed of a vehicle. In typical operation of a cruise control, the driver of the vehicle brings the vehicle up to a desired speed using the vehicle's accelerator and typically depresses a button to set the cruise control to the selected speed. The cruise control system then controls the throttle of the vehicle to maintain the selected speed of the vehicle.

A cruise control system of a vehicle may cause higher fuel consumption than is necessary because it tends to over throttle on upward slopes, wasting the energy storage capabilities which are available from the inertia of the vehicle.

Therefore, what is needed is an inertial mass detection device which renders in a visible or audible manner the inertial mass of a moving vehicle at all time for the purpose of reducing fuel consumption. In some applications, the inertial mass detection device is connected to a cruise control system of a vehicle and automatically turns-off the original setup speed of the cruise control when necessary to conserve fuel, allowing the driver to control the vehicle's speed again.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Shown throughout the drawings, the present invention is generally directed towards an inertial mass detection device which renders in a visible and/or audible manner the inertial mass of a moving vehicle for the purpose of reducing fuel consumption. In some embodiments, a cruise control modifying device is connected to the inertial mass detection device. A cruise control of a vehicle is connected to the cruise control modifying device. The cruise control modifying device is operable to disconnect or adjust the vehicle's cruise control setting to operate the vehicle at a variable speed in the event that the inertial mass detection device signals that the vehicle's inertia is consistent with inefficient fuel consumption.

Referring initially to FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawings, an illustrative embodiment of the inertial mass detection device, hereinafter device, is generally indicated by reference numeral 1. The device 1 includes a casing 2 which typically contains the functional components of the device 1. An inertia indicating device is provided on the casing 2. In some embodiments, the inertia indicating device includes an energy-consumption (usually acceleration) indicator light 7 and an energy-conservation (usually deceleration) indicator light 8. The energy-consumption indicator light 7 and the energy-conservation indicator light 8 are typically different colors. In some embodiments, the energy-conservation indicator light 7 is red and the energy-conservation indicator light 8 is green, although alternative colors or distinguishing visual characteristics may be used. A battery 3, having a negative pole 4 and a positive pole 5, is typically provided in the casing 2. In some other embodiment, the vehicle's battery is used. The battery 3 is electrically connected to the energy-consumption indicator light 7 and the energy-conservation indicator light 8 via a light contact 6 which is disposed in electrical contact with a first one of the negative pole 4 and the positive pole 5. A switch contact 12 is disposed in electrical contact with a second one of the negative pole 4 and the positive pole 5.

The device 1 further includes a generally elongated ball track 18 which is typically provided in the casing 2. The ball track 18 is fine-tuned to a horizontal position in the casing 2. The ball track 18 has a first track end 18a and a second track end 18b. As illustrated in FIG. 2, in some embodiments the ball track 18 has a generally V-shaped cross-section and includes a pair of elongated track segments 19 which are disposed at an angle with respect to each other. A track trench 20 extends along the ball track 18, between the track segments 19. A first pair of generally elongated, spaced-apart electrically-conductive switch placed in an opposite positioned contacts 26a, 26b is provided on the track segments 19, respectively, generally at or adjacent to the first track end 18a of the ball track 18. A second pair of generally elongated, spaced-apart electrically-conductive switch placed in an opposite positioned contacts 28a, 28b is provided on the track segments 19, respectively, generally at or adjacent to the second track end 18b of the ball track 18. As illustrated in FIG. 1, a gap 30 separates the second pair of switch contacts 28a, 28b from the first pair of switch contacts 26a, 26b. A contact ball 22, which is an electrically-conductive material, is provided on the ball track 18. The contact ball 22 is capable of freely moving on the track segments 19 between the first track end 18a and the second track end 18b. Accordingly, as it traverses the first pair of switch contacts 26a, 26b, the contact ball 22 establishes electrical contact between the first pair of switch contacts 26a, 26b. In like manner, as it traverses the second pair of switch contacts 28a, 28b, the contact ball 22 establishes electrical contact between the second pair of switch contacts 28a, 28b.

As further illustrated in FIG. 1, the switch contact 12 is disposed in electrical contact with the switch contact 26a of the first pair of switch contacts 26a, 26b and the switch contact 28a of the second pair of switch contacts 28a, 28b. An energy-consumption light contact 14a establishes electrical communication between the switch contact 26b of the first pair of switch contacts 26a, 26b and the energy-consumption indicator light 7. An energy-conservation light contact 14b establishes electrical communication between the switch contact 28b of the second pair of switch contacts 28a, 28b and the energy-conservation indicator light 8. Accordingly, when the contact ball 22 contacts the first pair of switch contacts 26a and 26b, an electrical circuit is completed between the battery 3 and the energy-consumption indicator light 7, thereby illuminating the energy-consumption indicator light 7. When the contact ball 22 contacts the second pair of switch contacts 28a and 28b, an electrical circuit is completed between the battery 3 and the energy-conservation indicator light 8, thereby illuminating the energy-conservation indicator light 8.

Referring next to FIGS. 3 and 4 of the drawings, in typical application the device 1 is mounted in a vehicle 32 and fine-tuned in a horizontal position. The casing 2 is mounted typically on the dashboard (not illustrated) or in any other suitable location in the vehicle 32. During the accumulation of inertial mass of the vehicle 32, such as but not limited to upon acceleration of the vehicle 32, inertia which acts upon the contact ball 22 pulls the contact ball 22 on the ball track 18 toward the first track end 18a, such that the contact ball 22 establishes electrical contact between the first pair of switch contacts 26a and 26b, thereby closing the circuit between the battery 3 and the indicator light 7 and illuminating the indicator light 7. This visual cue usually indicates accumulation of inertial mass of the vehicle 32, allowing the driver (not illustrated) of the vehicle 32 to reduce acceleration of the vehicle 32 or decelerate the vehicle 32 to a degree which reduces excess consumption of fuel through the fuel flow regulation feature (accelerator), as the vehicle 32 continues forward motion due to the forward inertial forces acting upon the vehicle 32. Upon the decrease or dissipation of the accumulated inertial mass of the vehicle 32, such as but not limited to that which occurs usually during deceleration of the vehicle 32, inertia causes the contact ball 22 to roll along the ball track 18 toward the second track end 18b. Consequently, the contact ball 22 establishes electrical contact between the second pair of switch contacts 28a and 28b, thereby closing the circuit between the battery 3 and the indicator light 8 and illuminating the indicator light 8. This visual cue indicates to the driver of the vehicle 32 that the vehicle 32 is operating in a fuel conservation mode dissipation of the inertial mass of the vehicle 32, indicating to the driver that the vehicle 32 is operating in a fuel-conserving mode, which is continued until the operator of the vehicle 32 deems it necessary to again increase or accumulate the inertial mass of the vehicle 32 by acceleration of the vehicle 32. Therefore, the driver is capable of operating the vehicle 32 at the optimal speed according to the prevailing driving conditions, vehicle weight, speed regulation, traffic and other factors in order to attain the greatest distance traveled per gallon of fuel consumed (MPG), decrease carbon dioxide emissions to limit atmosphere pollution and global warming, save the vehicle components' premature wear and tear due to rough driving and provide enhanced comfort and security to the driver and other occupants of the vehicle.

Referring next to FIG. 5 of the drawings, in one exemplary application, the device 1 is part of a system 40 in which a cruise control modifying device 34 is connected to at least the first pair of switch contacts 26a and 26b (FIG. 1) of the device 1. A cruise control system 36 of a vehicle is, in turn, connected to the cruise control modifying device 34. The cruise control system 36 may be conventional and is programmed to operate the vehicle at a setup speed which is selected by the driver of the vehicle. The cruise control modifying device 34 is operable to disconnect or reduce the setup speed of the vehicle cruise control system 36 in the event that the device 1 signals that the vehicle's inertia is consistent with a lack of accumulated inertial mass (red light) such as during unnecessary acceleration, for example, corresponding to increased fuel consumption. This, in turn, facilitates forward motion of the vehicle as a result of the forward inertial forces of the vehicle, conserving fuel. The cruise control modifying device 34 may be programmed to disconnect or re-adjust the setup speed of the vehicle cruise control system 36 back to the original setup speed when the device 1 indicates that the vehicle's inertia is consistent with decreasing inertial mass as in the case of deceleration. It will be appreciated that when the inertial mass detection device's red energy-consumption mode indicator light 7 is illuminated, the driver is informed that the vehicle moves on energy-consumption mode. Energy-consumption mode usually occurs when the driver increases the fuel flow to the carburetor with the accelerator to increase the vehicle's speed but it can occur otherwise as well. Alternatively, when the inertial mass detection device's green energy-conservation mode indicator light 8 is illuminated, the driver is informed that the vehicle moves on energy-conservation mode in a fuel efficient manner. Energy conservation mode usually occurs when the vehicle is moved using only the vehicle's inertial force accumulated.

It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the inertia indicating device can be any type of device which is capable of indicating the energy-consumption mode and energy-conservation mode of the vehicle and is not limited to the energy-consumption mode indicator light 7 and the energy-conservation mode indicator light 8 which was heretofore described with respect to FIG. 1. For example, in some embodiments the inertial mass indicating device includes a needle (not illustrated) which points to a first area as the vehicle is moving in the energy-consumption mode and to a second area as the vehicle is moving in the energy-conservation mode. In other embodiments, the inertia indicating device includes an auditory alarm (not illustrated) which emits a first sound in the event the vehicle is moving in the energy-consumption mode such as acceleration and a second sound in the event the vehicle is moving in the energy-conservation mode such as deceleration. These inertia indicating devices can be used individually or in combination with each other to indicate the inertia of the vehicle.

While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications can be made in the invention and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.

The Moment-O-Meter really sells itself. If they access the websight and read about it, it is really a "no brainer" investment, not a purchase. With that being said, I also believe some people have a better understanding than others. I believe some people know we have an oil habit in the USA and some do not understand the concept without a demonstration. Some feel comfortable buying products by doing their own research on the internet and some will need a demonstration in order to make a purchase. I think people buy it knowing it will help them save money AND do their share to help save the precious resources of our planet. They also must understand it will cut down on the CO2 emissions which will help address climate change and create cleaner air for our children to breathe . Our children are our future and smart people invest in a Moment-O-Meter because they understand what steps we need to take NOW to ensure a better environment for generations to come. $348 is a small price to pay to do your part especially when it will easily pay for itself in a few short months based on fuel savings. Bottom line is this:

It is so easy to get started with no installation required, it saves money for years to come with a very little up front investment, it saves valuable resources currently being sucked out of our planet, it makes the air we breathe much better, it strengthens our National Security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and it is a win/win if you understand these facts! Some folks don't need a demonstration to figure it out. For the others that do, I will be there to give the most powerful demonstration they have ever seen!!!

- A- Explain the way you would train and manage sales reps:

Knowledge and understanding is key to success! I will make sure they are trained well so they can make a perfect demonstration any time they are in front of a buyer. If they are not well versed and rehearsed prior to giving the demonstration, they will blow an opportunity to make the sale. They have to believe in what they are selling or they will not be successful. I will set goals for them with regard to amount of cold calls, appointments, demonstrations, and sales per week and hold them accountable to minimum expectations. I will make sure that they are comfortable making the calls, keeping the appointments, making the demonstrations which will lead to sales. I will also train them to ask for referrals anytime a sale in made. Referrals are valuable warm leads to set up a demonstration without cold calling. Referrals are also a crucial part of sales success. If they need additional training on any of these crucial steps for success, I will hold video conferences to ensure they are 110% confident every step of the way. If they are successful, I will be successful and Green Technology MFG Inc. will be successful! As I have said before and will say again, "I DO NOT BELIEVE IN FAILURE!" 10- According to our Terms and Conditions when is our money back guarantee policy is in force for our regular retail Internet customers?

a- when the customer does not like the way Moment-O-Meter looks or is unwilling to learn eco driving? ____ YES __X__NO
or
b- when the normal use of Moment-O-Meter does not allow the customer to eco drive and save at least 20% fuel above the EPA MPG within the first one thousand miles (city and highway combined) or 60 days whichever comes first? _X___YES ____NO

11- Indicate the difference between the Moment-O-Meter and the existing devices that people buy to display their vehicle's data (see(((Redacted)))

Moment-O-Meter is the only device that displays momentum, indicates when to EcoDrive, mounts to the windshield, works on ANY vehicle and comes with 3 year guarantee as instead of 90 days. There really is NO COMPARISON!

12- What is the VERY FIRST Eco Driving TIP given by the educational tool (Quick Tips) offered in partnership with the Alliance of Automobiles Makers (see (((Redacted)))?

Answer:

Believe You Can Reduce Fuel Use and Emissions.

Tip #1 Many of the best practices for green driving are subtle, but they can add up over a year. Making small changes in your driving can be the most effective way to reduce fuel use and carbon dioxide emissions, and the best part is you can do it today, with whatever vehicle you are currently driving. What you monitor, you manage...so start adapting a "lead foot" to a

"feather foot" and keep track of the savings over several tanks of gas. Typically, practicing moderate levels of EcoDriving can reduce fuel use by an average of 15%.

You must first agree to start as self-employed (on straight commission of $140.00 per unit sold) during our FREE energy conservation training period, normally from 1 to 6 weeks or a legitimate sale to a fleet manager managing at least fifty non-emergency vehicles, whichever comes first.

_X__ I AGREE.

Hello Mike, you must have mastered Moment-O-Meter ("MOM") by now.

I plan to recruit sales people under you as soon as you are ready to train them.

Prospecting is no problem at all... In fact, I have no problem selling the Moment-O-Meter because I know it will work for most drivers

I know you said it would be hard to sell it if it doesn't save me money but I know it will work for the average person out there. I didn't realize that I drive on momentum on a normal basis until I tried to save fuel with the Moment-O-Meter.

I still believe in the product and I know I can sell it but I just haven't realized a savings or change myself.

Good morning Tom!

I have decided to look at other career options. As for the unit I purchased, I will dispute the charge with my credit card company as the policy was never discussed about refund. I figured I would be a customer like any other since I had to purchase the unit at full retail price. It did not save me money as the refund policy states and I believe I should be entitled to a full refund as would any other customer that does not benefit from the use of the Moment-O-Meter.

If you would like to adhere to the refund policy, I will give you that opportunity prior to opening a dispute with Discover.

Please advise.

Thank you,

Mike

IN CONCLUSION: Five weeks after being hired as a sales manager trainee, Mr. Morris resigned requesting me to change the companys refund policy for him in order to stop him to file this complaint for everybody to see on this web site and others Internet web sites. I felt black mailed and refused.

What Mr. Morris never disclosed is that he used the Moment-O-Meter on his Prius hybrid which has his own eco driving system. He supposed to use his other vehicle (Ford) to demonstrate Moment-O-Meter to potential customers but all he wanted is to manage salespersons because he refused to make a single demonstration. I informed him that he will not be nominated sales manager if he is not willing to demonstrate salesmanship on the field. This prompted his resignation.

#32 REBUTTAL Owner of company

REBUTAL of President Tom Delor to Mike Morris COMPLAINT

AUTHOR: Tom Delor - (United States of America)

Mr. Mike Morris who applied for a sales manager position with Green Technology MFG Inc. (GTMI) was hired as a trainee and bought a Moment-O-Meter to make demonstrations to potential prospects. Mr. Morris acknowledged by email of July 22, 2010 that the corporation money back policy Does not apply to Green Technology MFG Inc. employees, job applicants or affiliates". He also acknowledged that our money back guarantee policy was in force for our regular retail Internet customers only if the normal use of Moment-O-Meter does not allow the customer to eco drive and save at least 20% fuel above the EPA MPG within the first one thousand miles (city and highway combined) or 60 days whichever comes first. See http://www.extra-mpg.com/Terms%20&%20Conditions.htm

On August 31, 2010, Mr. Morris in his email to our Customer Service Department admitted that his Moment-O-Meter did exactly what it supposed to do meaning displaying a green light when the vehicle had an inherent momentum and can move without using fuel and a red light when the vehicle needs fuel to maintain a selected speed but he still wanted a refund.

On August 19 2010 Mr. Morris informed me by email that he will start prospecting he following Monday of August 23, to market the Moment-O-Meter --propspectin implies using his device to make demonstrations.

Finally on August 31, 2010, Mr. Morris informed me by email that he has decided to look at other career options and that he will dispute the charge with his credit card company because he pretended he was unaware of the corporation money back policy clearly contradicting his own statement of July 22, 2010. On the same day of August 31, 2010, Mr. Morris threatened me to post a negative review of the Moment-O-Meter on Amazon and a rip-off report with www.ripoffreport.com if I do not pay him $348.00. This was extortion.

Mr. Morris argument is that his Moment-O-Meter does not work because it simply displays a red light when he is pushing on the gas pedal and a green light when he is not, in complete contradiction of his statement of August 31, 2010 to our Customer Service and threatening to publish bad articles on the Internet if we do not pay him $348.00. The price of $348.00 he paid and want us to pay him back included a unique Energy Conservation Course with time spent which was dispensed by Green Technology MFG Inc. to Mr. Morris at no charge.

Mr. Morris confirmed in writing his understanding of the way Moment-O-Meter works and he acted maliciously by filling a frivolous complaint with www.ripoffreport.com in violation of FL. STAT. 836.05 -Threats; Extortion. I will not pay one cent to Mr. Morris under such threats and to preserve our free enterprise system. Mr. Morris can easily eco drive by following his Moment-O-Meters indication and save fuel while reducing the CO2 emission but heseems to be one of those detractors who takes pleasure to fight innovative technology maybe  because he is jalouse that he did not invented it. Each inventions had their own detractors.

The Moment-O-Meter received the US Patent number 7,411,140 and is manufactured in Florida. The device is the ONLY existing device DISPLAYING the vehicles inherent momentum allowing the driver eco driving instantly thus saving fuel while decreasing the CO2 emission.

NOTE: All the above statements are facts evidenced by written documents that I can provide to anyone contesting this rebuttal and who wants to know the truth and without malicious intent.

As New York Mayor Bloomberg stated: "If all Americans practiced Eco Driving, it would be equal to 450 billion miles traveled on our roadways without generating any CO2 emissions. Thats 1,500 CO2-free miles for every man, woman and child in the United States each year."
