In October of 2006, I notified them of my move to Washington. They convinced me to have them continue to monitor my house in Washington, however, they never came out to install so in December of 2006 I once again asked them to cancel my service. Since then, they have continued to charge me $25 per month and refused to cancel my service. I have written 4 letters and made numerous phone calls, spoke with "supervisors" and never have actually made any progress. Today I got a collection call from them.
All I want is to cancel my service. They won't let me.

Monitronics' Employess: Lamba to the Slaughter?

Sure, Monitronics has great contracts that are iron clad. Why is that? Because they've ripped off so many people they're able to afford a high-priced legal team. Yet this employee is willing to support them!?
I'm moving into a rental and can't use the service anymore. However, they still expect me to pay for it! Does that make sense to anyone? An employee will say, "it's in the contract." A customer service representative would say, "we understand, sir. Thank you for being a customer as long as you have. We hope you think of us when you purchase your next home."
Monitronics. Bad.
Also, they are a dealership program for alarm companies. This is just like McDonalds- they are franchised so to treat any service issues with local offices under one blanket is like blaming lousy service at a McDonalds on the entire company. You have to understand they are individual companies and beacuse of that they individual companies nee dto be complained about- not the main company whom is giving them simply the alarm monitoring- which is all that Monitroincs provides. As far as insurance and licensing yes companies are required to have it and not all counties require electricians or permits to put in alarms. If you own your home you are resposible to make decisions in YOUR best interest. You should check out anyone who does anything in your home and never contract anyone until you read the contract and check out the company doing the work in your home. We all want to complain and blame everyone else but we have to take responsibilty for our own lack of due diligence. I spent 3 months researching a company just to re-do my tile grout and am glad I did. If you want what you pay for look into what you are paying for and do your homework. In the end you only cause yourselve frustration and will get no where against a large company with a legal team.
I hope you as the editor will take the time to educate people and not just let them slander good companies without valid reason.
