The initial problem was that my netzero program crashed the system when I clicked on its icon. Everything else worked fine on my Windows 98 system. I took it in go get tht single bug fixed. It was "fixed" a few days later, for $217.89,' but upon using it I found the program still was not right.

I took it back in while it was still under the 30-day warantee period, on a Wed. That Friday I was called telling me it would be ready by Monday.

The next Thursday I went in to get it after being told it would not be ready as promised. A teck told me they had not been able to get it to crash no matter what they did. I went over the problem with him and he promised to fix it that afternoon or by the next morning. That night the tech called and appologized to me for lieing and that they had not been able to fix the problem yet, but it would be ready Monday.

I went in Tuesday to get it, having given up on their being able to fix the problem. I was shown how it worked now that they had reinstalled Windows 2000 on it, but the netzero wouldn't work. I told them that I had never had Windows 2000. So I had to go home, a 40-mile round trip, and get my original disks so Windows 98 could be reloaded. That same afternoon they called saying both of my 40meg hard drives were bad and would have to be replaced.

I went back in to pick up my computer and take it somewhere eles and asked for my money back. They said they would replace the two hard drives at no cost and install Windows 98 for me. The next day I picked up the computer.

At home I began to install netzero, and all my other programs only to find out that netzero would not connect to the internet saying something was wrong with the modem. I called the shop only to be told it was a netzero problem and to call them.

I knew that was another lie and opened the box to see what was the matter. Besides some of the cables not being connected to disc drives, I found the modem was not the one originally purchased with the computer but was a generic Chinese modem 14.4 when I had originally purchased a US Robotics 58k modem. No wonder my setup softer for the 56K modem would not work with the Chinese rip-off.

The result is that I ended up paying 217.89 to have my system trashed and having to reload all my software by myself after going out buying a new modem and installing it myself. That kind of service by a company that sold me the computer originally is a real rip-off in every sense of the word. No

No one should do business with this company when its personall lies to your face, trashes your hardware, replaces the parts with parts of lesser quality, and admits lieing to your face.

This report is VERY misleading!!!

AUTHOR: Dstar53 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 19, 2009

I have been a customer of Motherboards & Upgrades for over 10 years. I am not an employee, ex-employee, and I do not have any financial relationship with Motherboards & Upgrades. I am writing this because the report this person wrote about this company is very misleading, and I needed to give everyone the truth about Motherboards & Upgrades from an impartial third-party.

From the 1st time I walked into their doors over 10 years ago, to today, when I just was contacted that my computer was ready, another computer I had Motherboards & Upgrades reconfigure and upgrade for me, every single person I have dealt with has been superior in their customer service, courteous to me and my family EVERY time I've been there and most importantly, Motherboards & Upgrades is one of the most honestly run businesses I have done business with anywhere in the United States. From the customer service techs, all the way up to the owner, Mike, when something needs to be done, or something comes up that they found when working on a problem, they have always notified me and let me know, upfront and honestly, what the situation was, and what they thought would be the best thing to do to fix the problem. There have been many times when the owner, Mike, has decided to give me a credit on my bill, just for small things like the repair took a day longer then they originally thought it would. They didn't have to do this, but this is how Mike runs his company, Motherboards & Upgrades number one goal is to make sure their customers are completely satisfied with anything and everything you, as a customer bring to them to do.

This complaint has no merit and is very misleading. Mike stated in his comments that this customer was refunded every cent that was charged to him, and was given a new modem and hard drive. To complain, and write a report claiming they were ripped off by Motherboards & Upgrades, AFTER receiving a full refund and free computer equipment tells me that this is just a person that can never be satisfied, no matter what the company tries to do to make them happy. It also shows that this person is just wanting everything for free, and feels entitled to be given everything he wants, without having to pay for it.

Computers are not like dishwashers, couches, vacuums or many other household items. When a computer stops working properly, there are a million different reasons why it happened, and because of this, there are also more then a million different things a computer tech must look for and find to solve and repair what is causing the computer to not be working properly. A monitor screen that is flickering, or turning on and off, is not just an automatic answer of, "The monitor is broken, we need a new monitor, or we need the monitor fixed." With computers, it could be a faulty monitor, but it also could be one of a thousand other things that is causing the monitor to behave this way, like a faulty cable or a broken video card to name a few. That is why when a consumer takes a computer in to a business like Motherboards & Upgrades, they must realize before they go in, that a great business like Motherboards & Upgrades will do a complete inspection and diagnosis of the system to make sure they have fixed the problem and that there isn't something else wrong that might cause the system to crash a few days later. And if they find other problems, they will contact you and let you know what they found and ask you what you want them to do. This is the reason that on occasion, a computer repair may take longer or in some cases shorter time to fix the problem, then what they estimated when you bring it in. A repair tech really can't give an exact time on when it will be repaired, because of this, and that is why they give you an "Estimated" time of repair.

Motherboards & Upgrades is a great company with great employees and a very good, hard working and honest owner, Mike Fish. I have been in the computer business for many, many years, and have worked with many, many businesses. Mike and his company, Motherboards & Upgrades are one of the few businesses in AZ that I know I can go in there and get great service, great prices, and an honest answer to any question I have. This complaint is so far off from what I know to be the true way Motherboards & Upgrades does business with every one of their customers. I have recommended Motherboards & Upgrades to many clients of mine, and everyone should know that if their computer needs repair, if they need or want to upgrade their older computer, or if they need to buy a new hard drive or any computer component, and you want a reliable, honest company to go to, then you should go straight to Motherboards & Upgrades before you go anywhere else. Like I said, I've been in the computer business for almost 20 years, and for over the last 10 years, Motherboards & Upgrades is the first and only place I go to for my computer needs. To say Motherboards & Upgrades is ripping people off or misleading customers in any way is the furthest thing from the truth, and the complete opposite of my and many hundreds of other Motherboards & Upgrades customers.

Correction to the mis-leading report

AUTHOR: Michael Fish - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 05, 2009

We attempted to find any problem with this customers modem and never could reproduce one. We at our own expense put in another "NEW" modem to see if it might help with his issue. We also put in a brand new hard drive at our expense in case that was part of his probelm. We went to great effort to make sure their computer was operating properly. We spent many hours working on it for which we never charged the customer for.

We refunded all of the fee's that were originally charged plus gave the customer a new modem and new hard drive. This customer was out nothing...not one cent.

He and his wife were very adversarial through the whole ordeal, being extremely unreasonable and demanding...mentioning their attorney and how much money they had in every conversation. Mean while we were going to great lengths to help them and make sure their computer was perfect.

They reported us to the Attorney General's office who investigated the claim and found we had not been at fault.

After fourteen years in business you are going to occasionally have a customer who refuses to be satisfied. This customer lost no money and received new components to their computer at no cost. We did everything within our power to try to resolve this issue with the customer...as we always do.

We have had no BBB claims against us and except for this customer have never had any negative claims of any kind against us. All of the major stores in the area (Best Buy, Fry's, Ultimate Electronics) refer customers to us when they can not provided a solution for their customers.

Our reputation and lack of negative claims against our company after fourteen years in business speaks for itself.

We were not at fault in this case and it has been mis-represented and mis-characterized.
