We moved from Pewaukee,Wi, 1 month ago to Housto. My husbands company paid 10,000.00 with a deposit of 5,000.00 to pick up to have this called company called Moving On Up from Hollywood,Florida pack our furniture and they in return in the moving cost took our furniture to Extra Space and Storage and also called Storage USA on Addison St. in Chicago until we had a house ready. The moving company also pays for your furniture to be stored and find out they only took out 2,000.00 of insurance .Now we also had a BMW 1200 lt motorcycle in this storage. So when they brought our furniture to us 2 weeks ago after they delayed it so many times and were never told and had to give them 5,000.00 remaining before they could take things off the truck .So right before he started taking things off the truck we find that while in storage the roof was in repair and it rained and our furniture sat in over 8 inches of water and find out they only took out 2,000.00 so we are not going to be paid anymore than 2,000.00.This price did not cover things stolen or missing and other things broken or smashed and not sure what we can do about it now.We still have all this furniture on our porch and in our garage and the mold is black we can't get rid of it till there is someone to come and look at it . I am not sure what we can do about it now. This is not healthy .Each one blames the other .Pictures were taken by driver at storage building and others were taken before leaving my house and after delivery

Moving On Up, Inc. RE: Mr. David Bickerdyke

AUTHOR: Moving On Up - (U.S.A.)

Our customer was informed that Moving On Up, Inc. would store their items in a private storage unit located at a Public Storage facility in Chicago. This procedure is practiced when a delivery is not located within access of our company's storage facilities, which are exclusively located in Florida. This is a common practice for many moving companies in the industry.

In regards to the settlement dispute, Mr. David Bickerdyke opted not to purchase additional coverage for his items. On the original contract, Mr. Bickerdyke consented to Moving On Up, Inc.'s basic liability valuation of 60 cents per pound per article as declared by law, which is signed and dated on July 18th, 2007, prior to the items in question being placed in storage.

As the customer stated, the items placed in the Public Storage unit experienced heavy water damages due to the poor condition of the unit's roof. Our company felt that the 60 cent per pound valuation (which would have resulted in compensation far less than $2,00.00) was insufficient, and fought for our customer's rights against Public Storage, who did not offer any compensation whatsoever for Mr. Bickerdyke. Moving On Up, Inc. subsequently threatened legal action against Public Storage less they agreed to financial responsibility for the damaged items.

Moving On Up and Public Storage came to an agreement of $4,500, $2,00 of which came from Moving On Up, Inc. We have a copy of the $2,000 settlement check that was signed and received by Mr. Bickerdyke.

Stop Wasting Your Time

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

In an effort to really show what the story is here - maybe we should possibly ask some more questions.

1. Why would a reputable moving company NEED to rent a Public Storage facility to store a shipper's goods? WHY? A reputable moving company does not need to.

2. Why do you FIRST offer standard valuation at $0.60 per pound. A reputable moving company, by law, must first offer Full Replacement Valuation, and then let the customer decline such valuation before putting standard valuation on the shipment.

3. The fact of the matter is this - the reason the shipper received any money at all has nothing to do with you or anything you did to help. You were the fools who didn't have a storage facility near the shipper. If anything, you helped cause the problem by not having a facility. The matter was between Public Storage and the shipper and it was their insurance that paid for this. Your insurance didn't have any claim to file.

Next time, if you want to tell the real story - consider the truth, or keeping quiet because many of us know how scam movers work. If it walks and talks like a scam mover, it probably is. ROR keeps reports on here forever.

AUTHOR: Moving On Up - (U.S.A.)

customers items were put in a public storage which had a major water leak from a broken water line in the interior of the building. Consumer never purchase additional insurance and was covered based on $0.60 cents per pound per article, although no additional insurance was purchased customer received a settlement of over $5000.00 and was very happy with this settlement. Our company has been in this buisiness for over 10 yrs and I think your web sight should report and explain in more detail to the consumers that in every buisiness (especially moving) there are a lot situations that are not only the movers fault but do to some unforseen circumstances beyond our control are unavoidable. At this time we are asking you that you take our name off of your black list, immediately and thank you!
