They said thats fine, an we worked out a price which was reasonable.
Of course, they couldn't specify a date, just a range of dates, tuesday or wednesday of the next week.
That was fine too.
I called my storage people in Oregon and explained the situation. They said that they needed to have their own people unload the storage unit and that they would have to schedule people to come in and do it. They said that they handled the scheduling for the week ahead on Monday.
I thought this was mildly annoying but hey, no big deal. I would surely know by Monday what day the haulers were coming and who they would be (so I could authorize them having access to my stuff)
I call Movingcost back and explain that for this move to happen, I absolutely, positively needed to have this information by Monday (3pm EST, 12N PST). My salesman said 'no problem. we can definately do that'. I had this same conversation a couple times with him, and with a customer service person. Both promised me this. My salesguy told me to call back if it looked like it wasn't going to happen.
I called back around 12N EST that monday. I was just checking in. My salesguy moved me to customer service. Customer service told me that the contract had been picked up BUT not accepted an signed.
To which I replied 'yes, but I need the information and date within 3 hours'.
To which SHE replied 'We'll see what we can do. I can't hurry them up'
I asked if she could call them.
She refused.
Needless to say, 3pm comes an goes.
I call and talk to about half a dozen people. Half saying that they promised this and they dont know what happened. It must be someone else's fault. The other half saying that they don't care what was promised, so long as they make the dates on the contract.
It may seem that going by the contract is fine, but then they shouldn't verbally promise anything, and they DID promise me again and again (I was calling daily if not more).
I explained that I was now out of luck for the week and asked for my deposit back. Of course, that didn't work.
All they could do was offer to try again next week (xmas week). I strongly suspect that, unless I can cancel the deposit from my credit card, that I'll be having the same conversation then.
While they may not have done anything illegal (of course, I don't have any of the conversations taped), they are certainly untrustworthy.
avoid them at all costs (especially when you see the OTHER complaints against them)

Seeking deposit refund

Eventually Nationwide said they would have AAA Vanlines there on May 28th in the morning, a day earlier than contracted. No one showed up that day, and no one was in the office of AAA or Nationwide to tell me when to expect them. Absolutely no one has contacted me about this or returned my messages.
Even though they may still show up within the contracted dates, I will not let them touch my things. If they treat their customers like this, I don't want to know how they treat their customer's posessions. After reading other stories on here, I am probably better off losing my deposits than losing everything else. However, if anyone gets a refund from Nationwide or from your credit card company, please let me know how you went about it.

Find another mover.

It sounds as if MovingCost has effectively cancelled your move for you by not showing up or returning your calls. Do NOT under any circumstances allow them to take your load, even if they show up on your doorstep bright and early tomorrow morning. Your credit card company has agreed to dispute the charges, so you will get it back. It's obvious your contract was not carried out, so your deposit should be refunded.
Do not waste any more time with this company. Start looking for a new mover right away. Be very careful who you choose, research them thoroughly on the web before you hire anyone.
A reputable mover will not ask you for a deposit, clue number one. Good luck!
