Mr Appliance was called to look at my dryer which had stopped working. They sent a repairman who had no idea how to work on this machine. The repairman calls the 800 # for Maytag and gets step by step instructions over the speaker phone on how to diagnose the problem. I could tell Maytag was getting irate with the lack of understanding from a repairman. After finally, coming up with a diagnosis, the repairman went to his van to call in and get a quote for me. Some time passed before I went to the van to find out what was taking so long. The repairman had decided to take his lunch break and was sitting in the van eating lunch while my quote was sitting on the dashboard. I was irate now. The quote was just under $500 (for a machine that cost $389). Parts were $300; labor was going to be $200. I declined his offer and called Maytag myself.. Got the parts for $125 and will do the work myself w/ the help of the same 800# help line the "professional" used. The help line is free. Mr. Appliance is a ripoff and price gouger.
