I see a lot of other people are having the same terrible experience with Mywot - WOT Services Ltd. Let me add my story here.

My initial naive perception about MyWot was that they must a reputable company since they are out there protecting consumers from bad sites. But boy, was I wrong! The company is disguised as a consumer protection tool, when in fact it preys on discrediting websites so they can remain relevant and cling to their declining business model, and sabotage competitors. Like someone said in another post - they are a wolf in sheep's' clothing.

My expereince started when I got alerted to a someone rating my site badly. My site never had complaints or bad reviews from anyone, and then all of a sudden I see a negative review from someone highly ranked indside MyWOt. It didn't make any sense as the rating had no factual basis. It sent off red flags as there had to be more to it that what I could make sense of. It turned out one guy seemed to be freely giving out bad ratings everywhere. His username is "SuperHero58". I checked his track record to find he's on a rampage giving out poor ratings to almost a 1000 websites a day with no regard or consistency on the basis for which he gives negative ratings. Just to be clear, he's not the only one. There are a handful other paid MyWot power-users and moderators who are nothing but Internet trolls that go around giving bad ratings - and throw their platinum rating weight around.

As of 05/10, go backward and see all his ratings. 100% NEGATIVE RATINGS. What does that mean? Either this guy just happens to stumble upon nothing but bad web sites, or his only purpose assigned by MyWot to do nothing but rank a list of sites negatively using his PowerUser weight to manipulate rankings. Does this look like a fair and balanced "crowd sourced" system or a manipulated system? If this isn't a clear example of an internet troll, I don't know what is.

Oh, but it get worse. The worst-of-the-worst prize goes to none other than "SuperHero58". Once you see SuperHero58's pattern across hundreds of reports from victims, you soon see what a whack job and irrational person he is. The guy is a complete lunatic, and thinks a bit highly of himself. He says in a comment "if a movie is made about WOT, I want George Clooney to play me :}". (Dream on, SuperHero58, George Clooney is never going to play a thug like you!) Combined with his Superman avatar, it speaks volumes of his major ego and self esteem problems - not to mention his insider role with MyWot. The only explanation for his passive aggressiveness is his own shortcomings - as in a serious case of having tiny p***s complex.

SuperHero58 himself hides behind his username for anonymity. His comments on forums imply that SuperHero58 is one of the owners or someone closely vested in the company. Why are their users hiding behind anonymity? Why don't they expose themselves if they feel they have any merit in their business and rating system?

Having had my first experience with MyWot I did a lot of research on these guy and talked to many other site owners that were having the same problems. It exposed a dirty world of MyWot, and a highly disorganized, mismanaged and cancerous organization. They have had a revolvoing door of CEOs and board members (Esa Suurio, Vesa Perälä, Taneli Tikka, Deborah Salmi) since the company is run from the bottom-up by the peons that call power-users and moderators instead of the top down. If the CEO had any importance around there, the first thing he would do is detox the company by removing the cancers like SuperHero58 and the rest of the gang.

They sound like a bunch of kids who know nothing about running an organization. They faked there way into a deal with Facebook and think that legitimizes them. Facebook will spit them out soon rather than to tarnish their global brand by associating with scum of the earth like MyWot. Facebook will fire the person who thought it was somehow a good idea to use MyWot when there are dozens of other better rating systems like McAfee SiteAdvisor, Norton SafeWeb and others.

There are hundreds if not thousands of posts expressing the same concerns about the problems with MyWot. My experience and the feedback from many people shows a deeply flawed system at the core that then goes into a pattern of abuse, and manipulation. If one reckless power-user can sabotage a site, then you can pretty much guess how reliable a system like that can be. In addition, any site that exposes MyWot is immediately given bad ratings which is a direct conflict of interest. Users I spoke to who dared to speak badly about them are given negative ratings or blocked off. MyWot is NOT a crowd-sourced solution as they purport it to be, as the weight of a few internal paid power-users is all that matters to sway ratings. They like site owners to publicly discuss the site ratings on MyWots forums so they can gain traffic to the site when people search for sites that have been victimized. They use this traffic to sell their bogus seals and services.

WOT is supposed to stand for "Web of Trust" but what happens when there is no trust left in the organization itself. I have yet to see such vile comments and scathing remarks on the Internet about any other company as I have seen about MyWot. They are building one of the worst reputations for a company on the internet. In fact, these bozos are giving Finland a bad name. This negativity is starting to catch up with them. Their traffic ranking is dropping, and will continue to plummet as they themselves become the least trusted organization. Another thing I noticed is that they rate competing sites negatively, which is a again a sign of abuse.

The reality is they have no incentive to change in the short term. Their management is too inept and incompetent to make corrections and the cancer resides inside the company and their flawed formula. Unfortunately cancerous organizations like Mywot implode from the inside over time. First Facebook and others will kick them out. Then, their own weak, incompetent and greedy management will wither away. The names of the owners and management (Sami Tolvanen, Timo Ala-Kleemola, Markus Suomi) will be so dis-reputed that they would be ashamed to call themselves by their own names and no one would want to associate themselves with these people. Like thousands of other site owners that are unfairly defamed by MyWot, people like me will continue to spread the word about these people and expose the MyWot scam. This is just the beginning of more to come.

They recently raised a tiny bit of money a few months back from "Michael Widenius's investment company Open Ocean, the Finnish Industry Investment Ltd. and private investors". But investors will get tired of them soon and more legitimate investors and buyers will run the other direction than to associate themselves with this dis-respectable group of people. The few minions who think highly of themselves just because they have a 10000 points will finally have enough once the world exposes them. And MyWot will be no more.
