Mydv ripoff takes more money than authorised, never delivers and does not refund Internet internet

16th November 2005- still no camera. Googled mydv and found it is actually an american company but reviews generally said items turned up eventually. went on the customer service chat on www.mydv.co.uk and 'lisa' assured me the camera would be delivered in a week or so.
26th December 2005- still no camera. went onto the chat again and asked 'lisa' to cancel my order. she assures me that i'll get a refund in a week or so and an email to confirm the refund.
10th January 2006- no confirmation email, no refund. google mydv again and find that hundreds of others have been scammed by this fraudulent company as well.... and even when goods have been delivered they have been Japanese spec not UK spec.
Not sure what to do now, wishing I paid by credit card because they are protected from fraud. have emailed my bank to ask if the same protection applies to debit cards... if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated!
