I too fell for this scam. The money is to be taken from my account on December 20,2002. I should have known it was too good to be true. The man I spoke to said since my money in the bank was FDIC insured, I couldn't be ripped off. I typed in the letters nacs and found this website.

Is there anyway I can prevent them from taking the $200 from my bank account? I'm a single parent and can't afford to lose that kind of money just 5 days before Christmas.

HOW TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK PRIOR TO THE DEBIT DATE

AUTHOR: jane - ()

Getting your money back (prior to the debit date)

1)call the company and try to cancel.

2)contact your bank and spend the whopping $10-$25 to put a stop payment on that specific electronic transfer.

3)ask your bank to refuse any electronic debits out of your account in the future.

4)if all else fails, blame the bank for YOUR stupidity. What right does the bank have to release funds from your account without your express written permission? How many thousands of forms did you fill out just to get a bank account with them in the first place?

Plain and simple, your account number is on every check you've ever written - does this mean that everyone that you have written a check to is welcome to set up an electronic debit through your account? I DON'T THINK SO. If the bank allows a debit through your account without your written permission, they are not protecting your money, or themselves, and you can attempt to hold them responsible for your losses.

STOP PAYMENT!!!!!

AUTHOR: Money - ()

I too, like many of you was contacted and ultimately fell for this scam. I voluntarily gave up my account info but was told I would receive the ENTIRE package prior to my deduction being taken. Well the only thing that came to me was this cheesy confirmation letter(half sheet of copy paper with jibberish on it).

The first thing I did was call NACS customer service, they will intentionally leave you on hold for at least 20-30mins in hopes that you will get frustrated and hang up. But oh no, not me! I finally got thru to an agent and requested that this entire account be closed and rejected the $200 deduction I had previously authorized. They informed me that I would be charged a $35 cancellation fee, ha!!!

Second, I got on the phone with my bank and closed my account, and opened a new one. No more NACS for me....

I suggest you all do the same, because even though $35 is not much, I don't wanna give someone my hard earned money for a fraud.

The bottom line with this company is that they intent to get money out of every single phone call they make, whether it be a free $200 or $35, they will get something.

peace
