My experience in Dr Peloza's office (center for spine care) started out very well..the office staff was very friendly..i never actually saw dr peloza but was seen by two of his physician assistants..very very understanding and nice people..i was diagnosed with having a cervical neck problem in which i am having nerve issues that is very painful. i had a set of injections which helped a little but did not alleviate the total problem as well as an MRI when i went in initially to see where the problem was and was diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy..

at this point in time realizing that conservative care was my best option (possibly future injections, medications, etc)..they were done with what they could really do at this point and referred me to dr nathan walters who just entered their practice as their pain management doctor..for me it was nothing but a big joke!!!

i was greeted by him first off by saying that he could and would not fill any pain medications (the pa's before had been giving me pain medications knowing how uncomfortable my situation was with the condition) until i could in the future hopefully get it under control...i had come to him in the hopes of talking about treatment options, physical therapy etc..

the first thing that he says is that "sorry i will not be able to fill your medications"..he talks over the top of you, does not really look you in the eye (which is something i can't stand and very bad body language) and really has this overall uncompassionate, uncaring attitute...whatever i wanted to say or did say was so unimportant to him..he asked me no questions about anything...on top of it he decides that if i really look at getting into physical therapy to treat my muscles which are really tight in my back and neck that it would probably help a great deal...has anyone ever heard of muscle therapy helping nerve pain...tell me if i am wrong...

he mentioned nothing of my diagnosis that was given to me and anything about nerve pain at all which is what i went to see dr peloza's office about in the beginning...he gives me a muscle relaxer and sends me on my way with directions for physical therapy muscle therapy...what a joke...i know i could use some muscle therapy but the thing that is so painful is the nerve issue...not addressed at all...actually brushed it off like it was not a big deal...

i would never go see him if you need a very compassionate and caring pain management doctor who wants to make sure you are as comfortable as possible...i told him the pain medication greatly helps me carry out my daily activities where without i am very uncomfortable, irritable, etc and that it helps until i get some kind of relief from another source...he actually went on a spiel about how the dea watching them like hawks, he has a family he does not want to hurt and all....what in the world is that...go to a doctor who is afraid of his own shadow?? please!!! i was so angry and upset and told the front office how i felt...he is terrible..

please save your copay or out of pocket and find a pain management doctor who is truly interested in helping relieve your pain while also finding appropriate treatment that may help...he is very unprofessional and more scared of his credentials than in helping people for which his specialty is devoted...beware!!! stay away!!! i am warning you!!! not a good thing...he needs to be in internal medicine or something and he would probably be just fine....

Dr. Walters- not so great! I agree

AUTHOR: meccablong - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, September 21, 2009

My husband went into Dr. Peloza's spine center and was seen by a PA for his back problems. The PA scheduled him for a spinal steroid injection to be done by Dr. Walters. When we got there Dr. Walters came in to "talk" to my spouse before doing the injection. My spouse had several questions before the injection and Dr. Walters said he wasn't able to answer specific questions because he hadn't seen his chart. I mean maybe that is normal but- here we are at a hospital about to undergo a very expensive procedure and the doctor hasn't even bothered to "eyeball" my husband's chart. He had no idea where his injury was or the nature of his injury.

I found that very disconcerting. A DOCTOR carrying out treatment based on a PA's recommendation?? He didn't even pretend to have read or consulted the chart. I felt like walking out of there right then and there. He did the procedure and I guess he was perfectly capable as far as that went. But he offered no advise for after care and was completely useless. I would not recommend. If you are going to do an invasive procedure on a patient read their freaking chart. Seriously. That cost insurance over $1000. He could do better than that.

Dr. Walters helped me tremendously

AUTHOR: B. Hudson - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 17, 2009

I am a patient of Dr. Walters and have always been treated with the utmost respect and consideration for my back problems.  Dr. Walters laid out a firm plan to help me with my back and I had no problems whatsoever with medications, although I went with what Dr. walters thought best as I really have no idea what would work for someone in my situation.

While I understand the original person's complaint as far as finances go I can easily understand Dr. Walters' conservative approach to pain management, especially as my father had a PM doctor who prescribed him very powerful opiates that my dad ended up stuck with until his death.  "Doctor Shopping" is, unfortunately, something doctors must guard against.  Perhaps a different doctor would be appropriate for the person filing the original report.

An EXTREMELY satisfied patient of Dr. Walters!

AUTHOR: Rachel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 12, 2009

MY experience with Dr. Nathan Walters was one of the best experiences that I have had with a doctor. I am not here to bash anyone, but from what I read by Rhonda I will have to disagree with her on HER bashing of Dr. Walters. I was greeted by him in an extremely friendly and professional manner. He never once talked 'over' me. He was very thorough on how he explained things to me. He went over my MRI reports with me and explained what everything meant. We looked at the x-rays together and he pointed everything out to me. He does make eye contact and carries himself well (contrary to Rhonda's statement about not making eye contact and having bad body language). Dr. Walters is a very compassionate doctor and did ask me plenty of questions about my condition. He seemed genuinely concerned about what I had to say (also contrary to the statements that were made about him). I was definitely having a hard time choosing a doctor because there are so many out there, but I am very glad that I chose Dr. Walters. He is a very nice man and the office staff is outstanding! I would highly suggest him to anyone who needs a pain management doctor.

Nathan S. Walters, M.D. "An absolute professional"

AUTHOR: Dallasfriend - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 12, 2009

I am a patient of Nathan S Walters. The slanderous report filed on this web site in no way
represents his conduct as a physician. He is extremely professional and, above all, through
in his approach to analysis and recommended treatment of a medical problem.

"Rhonda Bahama" of Carrollton, Tx. obviously wanted someone to coddle her and supply her
drug habit instead of giving her the conservative and comprehensive treatment offered by Dr. Walters. It is a pity that her hurt feelings led to her slandering a true professional when she did not get her way!

This web site can serve a positive service if used correctly. Allowing unsubstantiated filth of the sort posted by "Rhonda Bahama" is not that positive service.

IN RESPONSE TO ADMINISTRATION'S COMMENT

AUTHOR: Bahama - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2008

i just wanted to write a quick response after having read administration's rebuttal to my original entry regarding my experience in dealing with the pain management doctor at center for spine care. first off i want to make clear that my intention was not to only come in for pain medications and do nothing else. i needed some kind of medication for the current problem until i could work on getting it resolved.

until you are in another person's body you have no idea how they feel physically. if anyone in the office had have had a clue how i felt the day i came in there, they would hopefully understand my need for some kind of medication to alleviate the pain i was currently experiencing. my intention was to get some medication and to also discuss the options in treatment and try and get started on some kind of measures aside from injections.

the only reason i told him i might have to wait on the injections is because i was and still am into debt on some medical bills between me and my husband and i did not want to add more to the existing debt. the injection costs out of pocket were not cheap and am still paying on some of it. maybe the doctor thought all that i wanted was pain medication because i never made it past that conversation for the fact that he turned me off from the get go with the way he presented the other right from the beginning.

i mean literally that is the first words he said when he said down.."i will not be able to refill your medication". i thought it kind of strange for the first time you see a doctor and trying to build a relationship and that was the first thing he said off the bat before we even talked about any particulars about my condition, how i was feeling that day, what measures had i been taking, etc..

it is apparent that someone made notes before me seeing him that it was their impression that all i was coming in for was to get medication refilled. that was not my intent at all. since then i am working with a doctor and following other measures to try and alleviate some of the pain as which is what i would have attempted with dr walters. he just seemed to have no interest in my case or his attitude to me was not this caring and sympathetic doctor that others have given opinion of.

maybe he just did not like me from the "get go" and it was a personal issue as well. i was at the front desk and he gave me samples of some muscle relaxants and just handed them to me and walked off. i know i was not imagining the way i was treated by him.

anyway, i just wanted to write this rebuttal after having read administrations rebuttal to my original post. they do not even know the intentions i have and have also gathered their own opinion and of course are guarding their in house doctor. i just know my experience with him and have told it 100% true of how i felt i was treated by him. had he not started off the relationship the way he did it might have progressed further, but after the way it started off, of which i thought was totally unacceptable, i completely was tuned out, ready to go and knew that i did not want to deal with this doctor.

he never even once asked how i was feeling or what kind of pain i was in, etc..some things most doctors might discuss to know a little more of what is going on at that point in time. there was none of this type of talk and basically wasted a $25.00 copay for just a few words. he might have thought my intention was only for medication because i was in no way interested in discussing with him any treatment options after getting that impression of him.

my problem has caused alot of pain and in some ways the problems in the area and in different areas connected to the same has progressed further. some treatments are helping with some of the symptoms but still the problem remains. i just do not appreciate the way i was treated by him and is why i originally posted my comment. i have just not been treated like that by a doctor for quite a while and it really chapped my %$%^.

we are given the gift of free speech so do not feel there is anything i said that i was unable to say and the experience i had in dealing with him. kudos to the ones who love him and have had good experiences, but i have my own opinion and know how i felt when i walked out of that office and i was not imagining things as i have a great perception most all of the time. just wanted to make that all clear.

satisfied patient of Dr. Walters

AUTHOR: Danielle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2008

I was referred to Dr. Peloza by my GP for some very painful back issues and saw Dr. Nathan Walters at my initial visit. I was immediately impressed with his gentle and freindly appraoch. He was thorough with my exam and took time to explain what he thought the problem may be. To be sure, he arranged some diagnostic proceedures and once we confirmed the problem, we discussed my options and how best to move forward. Dr. Walters outlined various options for pain management and relief, and has taken a conservative and extremely thorough approach to managing my pain and resolving my back issues.

It's comforting to know that I have a knowledgable and qualified doctor that I can trust to help me with my back issues. He is also extremely patient and encourages questions. Add to this his sense of humor and genuine desire to help and you have a wonderful doctor.

The Center for Spine Care (CSC) recently added in-house pain management care with the addition of Nathan Walters, M.D. Dr. Walters is a fellowship-trained Pain Management specialist and uniquely holds two Board Certifications in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as Pain Management.

Dr. Walters shares the philosophy of CSC in providing patients conservative, compassionate care in diagnosing the source of pain and treating it. This means following diagnostic treatment guidelines and offering conservative treatment such as physical therapy, medications and spine injections. This patient, who only wanted pain medications, did not wish to follow Dr. Walters' conservative treatment guidelines in order to get better.

Dr. Walters ultimate goal as a conservative pain management physician is to restore function and independence, so patients can return to their normal daily activities. The CSC philosophy of practicing medicine is and always will be a collaborative effort of patient and physicians working together to diagnose the source of pain, treating it conservatively and minimally-invasively and returning these patients to their normal lives. CSC is not a long-term pain management facility only providing medications, nor do we wish to be. We are the chosen destination by people who desire top-notch care and who want to work in conjunction with our uniquely-qualified, outstanding medical team to improve their quality of life and get better as quickly as possible.
