I always wanted to try a work at home job. Well I can say this is my first and last time.

It started out I was looking for a job and I was looking at my home page from my local internet company they have free classifieds. Well I filled out the online application, I received a call back right away. The lady was really nice. I asked her a bunch of questions, I was worried it would be "cold calling" but she told me it wasn't. So I decided to go through with it and I gave read her my account number off of my check. Well I received a bunch of e-mails from the company saying to check it out and read about it. We would have like a class over the phone where a whole bunch of people called in and listened.

So after that she told me that we would get a number that we would use when we would need to call out. This number would keep track of our calls etc. My job was to call people and sell them health, dental, vision, insurance and also vitamins. Well I waited for a few days and didn't hear anything so I kept e-mailing my manager. So finally about a week after so answered me back and said it would be any day well after about three days I finally received my number.

At that point I had to log on to the website fill out some information, and then I would get my leads. This would tell me people's names and numbers and medications they were taking and what the best time to call them was. So I began to call these people they had no clue what I was talking about. The ones who did said that it was at least a month or so before they had talked to someone else. So I e-mailed my manager and told her my problem. I told her the way the job was described to me did not even come close to what they had me doing. No reply from her.

So I was looking at our papers we got from the company and it said if you didn't check in with them (they gave you a number you had to call everyday to let them know how many calls you made and how many sales you had) and it said if you didn't check in four days straight you would be removed from the server. So I e-mailed my manager and asked her to remove me. I told her I wasn't doing this job anymore. So I thought big deal I wasn't even worried about the origional $19.95 and $18.95 per month or whatever it was something close to that.

A week ago I received a letter from my bank saying I was overdraft. I was like what? I never even use that account. So I called she told me what it was for. They had been taking out the fees for two months! Then I get my phone bill I have no long distance well what do you know there is long distance charges on there. They said by paying that fee every month took care of that well I guess not since it was on my phone bill. I was furious. I called the company 800 number had to leave a message could get anyone to call me back. I finally found my managers e-mail address. I e-mailed her several times before she e-mailed me back. She said she would inform someone of the problem. Well then I didn't hear anything. So I e-mailed her again and then she said did you send in your cancellation notice in writing to the company? That's where I am at right now.

This job was a total scam, it's nothing like how they describe it to you. Please be aware!

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

What a shame for someone to try turn a gesture of "good will" into something ugly, and seedy.

Just goes to show the cut throat mentality of the past employees posting here. Grasping at partial information, reading into it, not knowing full stories, and spinning their web for unruly reasons.

"Melissa", be at peace. I truly hope you have found a job that gives you the peace in which you are looking.

John - you couldn't kiss more butt if you tried

AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)

Wow... it's been quite a while since I've taken a look at this site. First and foremost.... everyone should know that John (quite the "sales person" for NHCD, ASI, whatever they are calling themselves nowadays) has been under Grant's thumb for years. Or shall we say Grant, Robin, Kathy, Angela, whoevers butt he decides to kiss next. And also...this is not his "9-5" job, let's be honest huh John.

NHCD is not your bread n butter..it's your second job which you do whenever you feel like it. You are also one of the most rude people ever to the poor elderly people that you scam off. I worked with you for quite a while and unfortunately I know people who still work with you. You have been called the most rude person ever by quite a few of your so called buddies in this scam of a company..including Maricella.

What a joke you are. How can you look at yourself every day and be okay with what you do for Grant? Oh, that's right...he did let you live in one of his "many" homes didn't he? That's right everyone..when John was displaced, like so many others, in Louisiana he had no concerns because he had kissed Grant's ass for so long that Grant so "generously" offered his home in LA for him and his family. Oh and not only did he offer it up but he wanted to make sure his "gesture" was so kindly noted that he made sure to send an email out to every single person that worked for the company at the time. Way to give yourself some attaboys huh?

So...let's see what other light we can shed..oh that there are about a dozen or so "ex-managers" who have filed with the IRS and are refiling their taxes as they were paid as 1099 and not EMPLOYEES as they should have been. Enjoy your jobs while you have them everyone because I know they are scrambling again to come up with back tax money to cover what they are going to owe to many many people once again. Have no fear though.. they all seem to be pretty good at coniving and finding other names to work under. Oh one more thing.. the "access code" come on..who believes that in this day and age.

That you need an "access code" to dial numbers for someone or you'll have a huge phone bill. There are so many legitimate companies that hire (yep actually hire) people to work from home and guess what? you don't need to pay them...and you especially don't need to pay them for an access code that is a total crock of bs.

I don't think I've ever seen a dirtier company out there than NHCD and all of these supposed "employees" who post on this site to talk about how great they are. Ask them how many times their checks have bounced, they have skipped paychecks, taken paycuts, been "promoted" to another department with paycuts... it goes on and on and on ppl..don't be foolish. There are plenty of jobs out there where you can work at home and not be scammed. NHCD IS NOT ONE OF THEM

its so sad how many ppl keep getting brainwashed

AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)

You know what's seriously wrong in the world is people like you who think you are sticking up for something good. I worked for this rotten company for almost 4 years, I put them before my family and let the phone ring into my house at all hours of the night as "managers" are "required" to do or they will get their pay cut or reprimanded in a meeting full of the head honchos aka Robin Azevedo, Kathy Bradley, Grant Wilms, Herman Wilms, Angela Eason, and whoever else is on the ass kissing list that week. And let me tell you..that old nursery rhyme of when you were good you were very, very good and when you were bad you were horrid...NHCD gives a whole new meaning to that saying. You can work for this company for years, do exactly what they "require" of you, bend over backwards, lose your privacy, family time, meal time, everything to make sure you report to the "appropriate" person at the right time "or else" and in the end you end up with pay cuts and being basically bitch slapped in front of everyone Grant, Angela, Kathy, and Robin (yeah I know everyone..she seems so sincere doesn't she...don't fall for that..it's all an act) until they feel they have broke you. And the worst part is they have had you working for so long that you actually think that you can't find anything else that is going to be worth it, pay enough, be able to continue to be with your family, you name it they will come up with it as an excuse, and then when they get you there..if you aren't kissing enough ass or pulling in enough leads from your "group,", hires from your "group," or sales from your "group," they find a way to cut your pay. Oh..did i forget to mention some of the backstabbing BS artist in sales..i.e., sales management (which basically means they have kissed their ass on the way to the top) and yano the ironic thing there..at leat 80% of them have other jobs to help supplement their "great earnings" from NHCD. Let me take for example...hmmmm
Maricella Rincon..what a joke..she's such a backstabbing person it's not even funny. Be careful anyone who works for her, including the people she works under. The comments that come out of this ones mouth are quite interesting and include such people as her top tier: i.e., John (who happens to make more money than her and that really doesn't set well), she doesn't have great things to say about Grant, Robin, Angela, Kathy Bradley, or even (one of her supposed best buddies) Meleia Marshall. Isn't is ironic people that you continue to work for this hellacious company that continues to bury itself more and more every year. Leads managers are getting their pay cut AGAIN. Surprise, surprise...and unfortunately the people who have stayed there who were promised to "reap the rewards" have never done so ...and alas..never will. There is some peace of mind in knowing that the majority of "managers," "admin," "department heads," whose heads weren't so far buried up Grant, Kathy, and Robins butts that they have finally finaled with the United States Government for pay that they should have been paid originally. Good luck NHCD, aka Vitamin Shelf, aka Global Home Sourcing, AKA, whatever the hell name you decide to try to hind under next. It's all going to come crumbling and the best part is that you will finally be able to feel the way you have made the managers and people working underneath you feel for years. ENJOY IT!!!!! WE WILL

AUTHOR: Stephanie - (U.S.A.)

I am an employee for nhcd, and I love it. I have a very good, nice, and helpful manager! NHCD is not Insurance and does not claim to be insurance, that is stated in our website: flutternet. Leads is not sales, sales is sales.Leads simply get imformation upon request and submitt them as a lead for a rep to call with more info. Sales does sales. Personnel interviews and hires applicants.I have not recieved any long distance charges on my phone bill.

The access code monitors your calls. There is a deposit of $29.95 that is refunded after 10 hours of dail time. $18.95 per month for the code, you also get 1000 minutes per month of personal long distance calls.

NHCD is not perfect, they make mistakes just as anyone else. The point is that it is not a rip-off, people just fail to research before they jump into it and do not like what they get.

AUTHOR: C - (U.S.A.)

They must have put all the current manager's through a new brainwashing session. Excuse me, but the 1010 access code costs the company NOTHING----yes NOTHING. In fact K, I invite you to check out the commission structure on the access code and see how much Grant's making off his "workers." I'm serious. If still in doubt, check out the ripoff report that lays all the figures out for ya.

If you want a legit work from home opportunity that charges you nothing for both inbound and outbound calling, visit the wahm.com message boards. You'll find NHCD is nowhere on the list.

K...is Grant bumping up your pay for posting here

AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)

It's unfortunate that more people don't find this site before they start working for this hole of a "company."

For "K" in Carlsbad...Grant must be giving you a nice little bonus for trying to make his company look legit. Good luck because for every single post that you put on here about how great they are there are at least 10-15 negative things. This company has even gone as far as hiring people from India and the Phillipines just so they could pocket more money. Paying these "global home sourcing" reps a measley $2 per hour. The access code is total BS. Another way for NHCD to take your money and believe me they keep taking it. I worked with them for far too long...yano the song leave before the devil takes your soul?

That is what NHCD is. They make everything sound so goood but their so corupt it's not even funny. Given all of the unlimited long distance companies out there right now, where you pay a hell of a lot less than what you end up paying Grant Wilms, there is no legitimate reason for an "access code." There is no "rerouting" that happens and anyone who wants to confirm that call global crossings or your local phone company and ask them what good 1010444 or 1010502 does for your phone...oops did I give out the ever so sacred access code?

Please, don't be foolish people. The only ones who make anything in this company are the ones who kiss major ass and sell out to the higher ups. The sad part is that all of the "higher ups" know exactly how to hook, line and sinker you in.

STAY AWAY EVERYONE..
K ~ if you are so confident in this company how about posting your real name, town, and address...
What a joke.

#14 UPDATE Employee

Let's set the record straight

AUTHOR: K - (U.S.A.)

First of all I am a current employee of the company for sometime. I find it comical sometimes the statements or shall I say fictious statements made on NHCD.

1. You are not paying to work for the company! Let me repeat, YOU ARE NOT PAYING TO WORK FOR THE COMPANY. You are paying for a required featured, the access code. If you wish, go and get an access code on your own outright and expect to pay $50-60 a month. The company has a better deal for an access code. The access code is a tax deductible item. Alot of people ask, "Well, why do I have to pay for it". It would cause wages to go down, and not every employee works the same. Look at the access code as buying gas for your car or cleaning a uniform for work. It is your responsiblity to put gas in you car to get work. It is your responsibility to pay for the detergent to clea your uniform and/or clothes for work. Do you know what the purpose of an access code is? Let me explain. The purpose of NHCD enforcing the access is too ensure monitoring of all WORK related calls to ensure quality assurance. The company just happens to have an access code for its employees that includes unlimited long distance. If you do not PROPERLY use the access code, it will not reroute the toll charges from your phone back to the company.

2. I do not see how you went directly into the Sales Department upon hire. That is not plausible to me. Everyone must start at entry level, and then upon reviewal, the company will promote Within. I think that once you got to sales, you didn't do well and just decided to quit.... You could have been moved to a different department and would not have been in any trouble for that. I know that because I did not do well in sales and went back to entry level and personnel.

3. To Sue specifically. WE NEVER CLAIM TO BE INSURANCE. LET ME REPEAT. WE NEVER CLAIM TO BE INSURANCE! If you look on our websites and our membership packages, it states this is not insurance. We are a discount health program that assists those that may not be able to afford insurance, that may have a pre-existing medical condition, or that may just need assistance in filling in the gaps of where the health benefits with insurance leaves off. Since, this is not insurance, you do need a license to enroll someone into this program. Sue, catch a clue.

4. If what you say is true, then I do appreciate your situation. If your situation is not yet resolved, please respond. I would like to help, but only if your being honest.

#16 Consumer Suggestion

Help for Jessica

AUTHOR: Sue - (U.S.A.)

I am a licensed health/life agent in Pa. National Health Care Discount NHCD is NOT an insurance company but a company that sells discount health plans. They are not licensed to sell health insurance in Pa. You would not have been selling health insurance for this company to consumers as you were led to believe. The people you sold these plans to would at best received discounts that may or not have even really existed.

If these plans are sold as health insurance it is fraud. Thousands of consumers are being misled everyday by plans such as these as salespeople are trained to represent these products as health insurance. You can read many complaints addressing this on this website.

If you would like a career in health insurance it does involve going to school, passing exams, passing the Pa. state exam, being cleared by the FBI and fingerprinted and being appointed by the Director of Insurance for the state of Pa. in order to receive a health insurance license. You can find out information and state requirements about health insurance at www.insurance.state.pa.us or call 877-336-7479.

To begin to solve your problem now call the Pa. attorney General Office at 717-705-6938 or 717-787-3391. You may file an online complaint in both consumer and health sections at www.attorneygeneral.gov I suggest you file a complaint in both areas to allert the A.G. Office that this company is ripping off consumers in Pa. You may also file a complaint on the Pa. Dept. of insurance website to alert them that NHCD is hiring salespeople and training them to SAY they are selling health insurance. Make sure you have copies of all documentation so you can send written documents to both offices.

Copy all letters you send to NHCD also and I would send any letters reg. cert. US mail so you have signed receipts that you contacted the company requesting a refund. Follow thru with this not only to get your money back but to help save people from getting ripped off by companies such as this that has their salespeople misrepresent their products as health insurance!

Please tell everyone you know these plans are NOT health insurance! If any salesman tells you that the company will insure anyone regardless of health conditions that's your first sign it's a rip off discount plan and not real health insurance. Real health insurance companies and real agents MUST be licensed by their state where they are operating.

Don't fall for the line that these companies do not need a license to sell health insurance because they are a national group or association! They do not need a license to sell basically worthless discount plans because the plans are NOT INSURANCE!

Warning! These discount health/medical plans are sold under many different names! Tell anyone that phones you trying to sell you these plans that you will contact YOUR state insurance dept. to see if the COMPANY is licensed to sell HEALTH insurance in your state and that you will call them back after you research their company. If they pressure you HANG UP!

Answer to your question

AUTHOR: Jessica - (U.S.A.)

To start working for the company I had to pay $29.99 and then $18.95 and I would still have to pay $18.95 every month for my phone charges. I paid with my check, to do a check by phone.

I'm so glad that I didn't sign anyone up I only called about 8 people. I was suppose to ask them all of their information over the phone as well as to collect the fee from them by credit or debit card, check, etc. They said that they did not send out anything on paper because that costs too much money. They can save everyone more money that way so they say.

I finally got response back!! My old manager told me I need to send a letter in writing to the company and it will take up to 30 days which by then they will be taking out another $18.95 out of my account. Which they are NOT going to be doing, I am going to close out my account. They have taken a total of almost $80 from me I'm just glad it wasn't more, I doubt I will ever get a refund but I'm going to try.

AUTHOR: Holly - (U.S.A.)

As an employee, do you have to give them a credit card or checking account for their monthly fees to be withdrawn from? Also, if you called someone and they actually signed up for the insurance or meds, how did they pay you? Did you take their information over the phone or were they sent a bill? Please respond.

Don't let NHCD Turn you from working at home

AUTHOR: C - (U.S.A.)

Jessica,

Don't let your experience with NHCD sour you. Unfortunately, this is the first company many people run into when looking for a work at home job. There are legitimate companies out there and most who've worked with NHCD have moved on and gotten good positions.

First Rule for working from home:

Don't pay to work for anyone!! Most of these types of postings are for business opportunities not jobs and require an investment. Many are scams. NHCD advertises itself as a "job" but doesn't fit the definition.

Second

Visit legitimate webites like wahm and workplacelikehome These sites have message boards and listings of legitimate work from home companies and business opportunities. Ask about NHCD and see what sort of response you get.

As far as getting the charges to your account stopped, keep after them and if necessary, contact your State Attorney General.

Good luck!

Good luck!
