got a letter from Galaxy Credit stating that my account has been sent to them for collection of bill for renewal of readers digest subscription. called to talk to Ralph to get more info. was told that i ( keith Wagner) was on tape agreeing to renew with NMS and that they would not have sent me to collection if they did not think they had a leg to stand on since i am on tape.

told him i am shocked as i always hang up on telemarketers. requested to hear tape, ralph said he would call when tape was available. he called this week 9/22/04 with tape. listened to tape. it was my wife and not me. tape seemed to start when call was already in progress. salesman stated that they were going to renew for $2.13 @ issue. and stated price. wife asked several questions, how long, how many issues etc. when asked for my credit card # to "secure" the deal she stated that she was not authorized to use my card. sales man goaded and harassed her to try and make her use my card. she hung up.

ralph came on and i stated that it sounds like she was trying to get out of the deal as she was not authorized in the first place. he stated that they have her agreeing to renew. only statement to that effect was her telling him she felt that her husband would want to do the deal ( this is untrue as stated earlier i always hang up on telemarketers and renew with the particular magazine). ralph said so you refuse to pay and i said yes and he said he would put the case in the file marked refuse to pay. do not know what will happen now but i intend to do my best to shut these companies down with all the legal means at my disposal.

Response to my complaint

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 21, 2004

thank you for your efforts to do something about the practices mentioned in my complaint. i did go to the arizona bbb site and read where there have been problems with both companies. i also went to the california atty general and filed a complaint and the ftc to file a complaint. i did not hear back from either after several re- submissions of my complaint. the arizona bbb did get back to me promptly and with a letter from galaxy stating their case.

they stated that my case was put in the refuse to pay file and that there were no more collection activities to take place. it looks like they have backed off of pursuing the matter further. but i will be glad to see the feds step in to protect the consumer and not the companies.

i read where the bad guys are starting to sue those of us who express our opinions about them stating that we are commiting copyrite infringement if we mention their name. it seems that the government that is suposed to protect us backs them up stating that the free speech issue does not count on the internet.

there is a case now that threatens to break the back of a couple who had a site where folks could complain about a siding company and they are being sued by the offending company with the backing of the government it seems.

Similar Promlems with NMS Subscriptions

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 20, 2004

Keith and others,

I am in the process of dealing with a fraudulent telemarketer from NMS Subscriptions. I have an attorney on the case, filed complaints with the BBB, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Arizona Attorney General's office, the Federal Trade Commission, the National Fraud Information Center, and finally the United States Dept of Justice.

I also have contacted ESPN to see if they even have working relations with this company(s). I have also contacted the Glendale, Arizona Chamber of Commerce to inform them of the business practices of:

NMS Subscriptions, SKS Services, SKS Subscription, Services Unlimited Plus, Service Unlimited Plus, and Subscription Services.

See they are all the same company working out of Glendale, Arizona. They use different phone numbers and PO Boxes to confuse customers and possibly to avoid authorities. Check out the report on the Better Business Bureau on "Subscription Services" and you will see their name along with their aliases. Call the NMS number (888) 334-7996 and their voice mail will tell you "You have reached Subscription Services."

Anyway my point is their is something fishy going on with these companies. Hopefully more customers will expose these companies and their fraudulent practices.

FYI from the United States Dept of Justice website on Telemarketing Fraud:
