I now have two cars. One of them is a Corvette and I need to buy tires for it, at about $500 for each tire. I also have an older car that needs the AC replaced, and that will run well into the hundreds by the time the compressor, the drier, the orifice tube, and some seals are replaced. Planning in advance for these costly repairs, I called the store where my work was done previously and where I obtained the credit account to schedule a time and to get a "reader's digest" estimate for the AC repairs.
Because of the high cost I happened to ask them what the limits were on my credit account. Lo and behold, my account had been closed. I received no notice, no warning, no communication at all from NTB at any time that my account was being closed. I called their credit department and was told there was no reason my account was closed other than I hadn't used it for a year.
Obviously NTB is not interested in building long term relationships with customers. Obviously they do not need or want my business. Obviously if this is the way they treat account holders, they must be downright abusive to walk-ins. If they will do this to my account without any notice or communication for no reason, there's no telling what they would do to my car.
I'm sorry, but I have body parts that I value. I'm not willing to place my safety and well being or the safety and well being of my cars in the hands of a company so unprofessional they can't even trouble themselves to inform me about my account closure. If they don't need my business that is running into the thousands, I am more than happy to take it to a merchant who does value my business and does want to accept my money.
And after reading the reviews about NTB on this web site, it's probably a good thing they closed my account for no reason and without my knowledge. It sounds like it could have been lethal for me to allow them to perform any work on my car or put tires on my Corvette.

Assume what you want about me personally, my professional intentions about your vehicle and its safety, and my underlying attitude towards my job, but ultimately your complaint in this particular forum is invalid because it's against the wrong company.

Employee Attitude - More Reason to Avoid NTB

However, with that said, the recent response from an EMPLOYEE - undoubtedly the same level EMPLOYEE who would be performing the safety sensitive work on my cars - now comes out of the woodwork to declare that he is glad I will not be servicing my cars at NTB or making any purchases from the company. That sentiment alone speaks volumes about the quality of work that can be expected at NTB or any of their affiliate companies. It adds weight to my original statement that it could have been lethal to allow employees with this underlying attitude to perform work on my cars.
My advice is to find somewhere, anywhere, else to get your cars serviced. There are too many huge gaps and disconnects between corporate, management, and employees to get any kind of reliable service at NTB or any of their affiliates.
In an ironic twist of fate, the company where I work recently contracted to provide transportation services to NTB, and I am the person who will be overseeing and executing performance of that service. NTB treatment of me as a customer and this most recent comment from their employee will be foremost in my mind each and every time I am called upon to provide service to NTB.

Laziness and Neglect

I suppose some businesses are too big to fail and some are too big to care. NTB is apparently too big to care. Again. it's not in my best interest to do business with any company that has so little regard for customer service that they make no effort to communicate. After all, if corporate management is too incompetent or too uncaring to communicate about my account, I certainly can't expect quality service at the store level, which in turn means there is a probability that my cars would become unsafe after being serviced in their stores. After reading the reviews about NTB on this site and other consumer sites, I should be writing them a thank you note for closing my account so I won't be putting my safety at stake by having my cars serviced in their stores.
There are other automotive service stores in the immediate area where I hold accounts and that have not closed my accounts merely because I haven't used the account for a few months. Tires and services are a little more expensive from them, but I suppose you get what you pay for. At the other company, the service rep who answered my first phone call was more friendly and informative than the NTB contact and the corporate service rep I talked to about my account was much more friendly and concerned than the NTB rep I spoke with. Not only had they not closed my account, they increased my credit line to cover the costs of my current needs. I have a lot more confidence in building a long term relationship with them. They are not as big as NTB and don't have a national presence, but they actually WANT my business.
