One of the "sales men" called and said the reason for the call is that the company he worked for has been receiving complaints from customers that they are harassing them via the phone. His call was to verify my account information and then they would delete my phone number from their system and I would have to call their 888 number if I had any questions.

First off... I had an account with another magazine company. So I thought this company was them because he had alot of my information the begin with.

Secondly... thinking this was the company I had an account with, I asked if I could cancel my account and he said no because I had passed the time limit on cancelation. I didn't even have an account with Nadine Media. I had an account with Atlantic Magazine Services. Why would he tell me I couldn't cancel my account if I didn't have one? Next he asked for my SSN. Why would this magazine company need that?

I received my order confirmation letter and it had a cancelation letter on the back. I filled it out and sent it back the day I got it. Then they called and said I can't cancel because they have already paid the disbutor of the magazines and that they needed to get some money out of the deal. I can't get a hold of any one at the number they provided. They are either not in or the receptionist says she can't do it I would have to talk to Mike in the accounts Department.

They throw in my face that they have a recording of me agreeing to the sale. Not once did the salesman say he was calling to tell me about their magazine offer. He said he was "verifying account information". They will not cancel my account. I've also contacted the BBB but I don't know if they can help. I hope this does some good.

I recently had a problem with these companies and I contacted my credit card company first and got them to dispute the charges. This apparently got their attention. But just because of all the crap i've gone through I went ahead and contacted the BBB in New York and told them what was going on and they in return contacted this company. They credited my card and cancelled my magazine account. So this worked for me...it took a while but it worked. The people that run these companies are jerks and have absolutely not remorse for what they are doing. I recommend you trying this.
