Whatever you do, do NOT use this bank. My husband and I signed up when they were running the promo in December for new accounts and promised $150 if you : opened a new account, had a direct deposit by 12/31, and made 10 charges using the debit card within 30 days. We fulfilled all these obligations and each month, have had to call in and were told that we would be receiving it in 30 days. (Always there were apologies by them and the promise that we would be receiving the $150).
Here we are, mid April, and of course...nothing. Today we called in again and were told that we wouldn't be receiving it. We followed all their rules and for the past few months, have been continually lied to on the phone and in person by the branch manager Caitlin. The other two employees that we spoke with on the phone were Tricia and Jenny. Wait until you hear about how wonderful Tricia is!! Keep reading :)
According to Caitlin, Tricia is related to Jesus because she is perfect and never makes a mistake! Tricia couldn't have possibly made an error when doing the paperwork that cost us the $150 we should have received. Even though we don't work for the bank ( Thank God...or should that be 'thank Tricia'?) there was a form that THEY didn't have us fill out which caused us to not 'qualify' for the promotion. Again, let me reiterate. It was their form that they did not have us fill out, which cost us the $150 bonus. Also keep in mind that they did not tell us about this 'form' until TODAY, April 21st, after we called again checking on the status.
I have never in my life wrote a bad review on any business but this is absolutely ridiculous behavior on their part, highly unethical. The lack of integrity displayed by the employees and the attitude of 'it's our word against yours' leaves much to be desired. I am so thankful that I do have many other choices regarding where I choose to bank, so be wise people, don't trust National City.
I hate to see others ripped off as well but if you are in the same boat as us, opened a new account, fulfilled all the obligations, and did not receive your money, please contact the BBB.org and the Missouri Attorney Generals Office. Speak up so others don't have to go through the time and trouble that we did. Thanks for reading and God Bless.
