I signed up with National Home Warranty a year ago and added on coverage for my pool and hot tub. Natuarally, I expected that systems and the pool equipment would be covered if they malfunctioned for legitimate and coverable reasons. However, after four claims with them, I realize that they are only in business to rip off the consumer. They need to be stopped. Here are the claims I have filed and they have denied:

1. July 2007: AC unit would not run. Technician dispatched. Paid $60 trip fee. Said he would be back to finish later. Never called back. When I checked with NHP, they said that the tech reported tampering with the unit and we were not covered. Had to pay technician to fix myself. $200. repair bill.

2. August 2007: Again, AC unit stopped working. NHP dispatched technician. Paid $60 service fee. Same scenario as above. When NHP called, again the said the part was not covered by my warranty. Technician called later to tell me that it would cost another $300 to fix the unit. I looked at the unit myself and found a wire had come loose. Connected it and it still works fine to this day.

3. May 2008: Dishwasher stopped working. NHP dispatched technician. $60 fee paid. Technician reported that the Dishwasher had been tampered with and rewired improperly. NHP denied claim. Technician called and offered to fix for $200.00. Bought a used Dishwasher from neighbor and installed myself. Cost: $50.00 (plus the danged $60 service fee!)

4. August 2008: Oven stopped working. NHP dispatched Lake Area Appliances. $60 fee paid. Technician stated that sensor and control panel were bad. Waited three weeks - no call from either NHP nor Lake Area App. Finally was informed by LAA that NHP would only pay to replace sensor, not the more expensive control panel.

NHP has the nerve to pester me every day to renew my policy with them. Do they think I am a complete idiot? Well after four failed attempts to file claims with them - I would be to renew.

THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED!
