I responded to the sweepstakes entry...April 2, 2008 listened to the speech and was told I had 7 days to cancel after receiving the invoice.
I got the invoice and noticed that it was dated the date that I made the phone call. When I called to cancel the order I was told that I can't because I was too late...I didn't call within the 7 days from date of purchase.
Needless to say I didn't give any credit card information, my payments were going to be made out of my checking account. I informed the Customer Service Rep that I wasn't paying for this and his response was well you will be turned over to a collection agency.

I am an ex employee and the people in collections/retention repeatedly told me that they might use collection agencies as a bluff but they NEVER turn people over to the credit bureaus because they know that NME is lying and they do not want the law after them. Try calling back and telling them that you will report them to the attorney general and the FTC. That will work and they will leave you alone. If a collection agency calls tell them that you cancelled and that NME is lying and they will close your account. BE FIRM. In 20 years NME has never reported people to the credit bureaus - the collecton agency and NME are limp weennies.
NME is aggressive evil lying sales people who will steal your money if you let them. DO NOT PAY THEM. IT's your money so keep it.
