To "absolutelystupid" - your spin is garbage, NME was blatantly guilty and paid a $535,000 fine for misconduct!!!

AUTHOR: Jake - (U.S.A.)

Spin and lie away you maggot moron but reality is reality.

People read the 350 plus postings on ripoff.com and stay away from NME.

People lost millions of dollars, that is why NME paid a $535,000 fine - which in no way made restitution. Google it.

Your drug test comment is beyond a joke. NME wouldn't have many employees if they did drug testing. You only work there "absolutelystupid" because you can't get a real job anywhere else. We all know drug addicts will do anything to get their fix.

For John...

AUTHOR: Angeredbystupidity - (U.S.A.)

Drug tests have nothing to do with selling magazines but as a matter of fact, employees that ake credit card info do go through an extensive background screening. One girl was relieved of duty as a credit card supervisor during training to be one, because she had an unpaid check at Publix. Apparently it was something she had paid off, but that's how serious and strict they are for taking credit information.

We are a clearing house. There is always going to be people on here who feel they were lied to or misinformed but 99% of the time it's their own ignorance (no disrespect) but it is.

Publishers clearing house has a number of lawsuits under their belts and it's often better to pay fines and such than argue points. We are human like everyone else, though so I don't doubt that someone may have been lied to or misinformed. It is very possible, but the chances are far less likely because we are fined for that type of thing. If I lie to you, not only don't I get paid for the sale, but I pay an additional amount out of my check that I have already earned.

Here's a fact. NME was fined $535,000 by the FTC. Read on. And I don't want any more magazines!

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

Here's a fact. NME was fined $535,000 by the FTC. Google it folks for details.
Some individual states have banned and/or fined NME.
NME can't even do business/sweepstakes in their home state of Florida.
Here's a fact. There are 350 complaints on Ripoff for NME.

Let's see: Wal-Mart is 405 Billion sales and NME is 80 million sales.

Wal-Mart has 650 complaints and NME has 350.
That's .00002% for Wal-Mart and .0004% for NME.
That's a ratio of 20 to 1 greater for NME

Wal-Mart has pre-employment drug testing
NME does not. Guess who's working at NME.
How many employee's would NME have with drug testing?
Let's drug test em to find out - ha ha!

Just read some of the 350 complaints and let the reader judge.

Have a crappy day looney tuney boy. I will not respond again.
As my little kid says - go away poo poo face - don't want any more magazines

AUTHOR: Flfunnyboy - (U.S.A.)

Yeah, for the person that responded to my post... looney boy... real clever...
The only thing of substance you responded with was that we twist the facts...
OK, can you give an example? The rest of your post is just insults, with no base in any kind of fact. How can I respond to that if you don't have any concrete complaint? Oh, I know... You're a loser trolling jacka$$. Have a nice day.

#7 UPDATE Employee

You already agreed to purchase it, you're just trying to get money for nothing

AUTHOR: Flfunnyboy - (U.S.A.)

For those out there that have subscribed to orders from the National magazine Exchange: I know that we have aggressive telesales reps that try to get you to buy magazines. We all know this. Stop complaining about it. Its like complaining about car salesmen. We have a product, and we try to sell it. We offer a completely free chance to win millions of dollars, its not a joke. If it was a joke, we couldn't have been operating since 1984, but we have. Those of you trying to make it out like a scam: Either you or someone you entrusted with your credit card gave us a) your credit card number b) the permission to bill for the magazines c) a recorded agreement that you agreed to the charges for the magazines. If you can't trust yourself or your spouse with a credit card, don't have it around for you to use! Yes, we are aggressive on the phone, that's our job (and it sucks having to deal with snotty people who get a free chance to win money, then turn nasty when we try to sell something). If you don't want a sales pitch, BUY A LOTTERY TICKET! The sweepstakes is real, you can sue as much as you want, but we have a real sweepstakes with a real winner. Of course we try to sell you something, if we didn't sell you something, we couldn't afford to sponser a sweepstakes. DUH!
Listen up:
Nobody forced you to give your credit card number.
Nobody forced you to call our office.
We DONT call other people, YOU CALL US.
And for those who are trying to cancel after 1,2, or 3 years of service... DID YOU NOT GET THE MAGAZINES??? SO IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK... AREN'T YOU THE THEIVES? AREN'T YOU THE ONES TRYING TO GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING? If you have already been receiving the magazines, and want to get a refund, YOU are the ones who are stealing. How else do you describe it? You get a product, then refuse to pay for it. Give me a break... you are the scammer, not us.
IMAGINE: You go to the supermarket, pick out groceries, buy them and take them home, then EAT them, and you go back and complain the supermarket tried to scam you. GET A LIFE.

#8 UPDATE EX-employee responds

NME is a bunch of jerks. Read this to learn how to get a refund if you fall for this magazine sales scam.

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

This really works for a cancelation and refund. Don't let these magazine sales slimers take your money. Slime NME employees Robert Moravec, Kathy Margtondo, Rob Paolily-whatever, Elaine Skanlan, Chris King-ster-stinkster-devil, Vikie Stidel, and the payroll people etc.

Call customer retention and do the following. (call 800-301-6247 or 800-325-3155 or 727-524-3600 or 727-535-0205). If you get someone who isn't helping HANG UP and call again.

The following data came from an employee in the customer retention dept.

We have rules. When someone threatens to call their credit card company and reverse the charge, and call the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General, and their lawyer, and the AUDIT BUREAU OF CIRCULATION, we CAN NOT try and 'save' the account we have to go straight to canceling the account with a full refund. If someone does make a threat and we don't cancel the account we'll get in trouble.

'I'm an employee of the national magazine exchange, I work in the Customer Service department actually called Customer RETENTION because our job is to get customers not to cancel. We get commission based on 'cancel requests' saved. We are scripted and have certain offers we have to make. First we try and spread the payments out then give them 4 years for the price of 3....and so on.

For people turned into a collection agency tell them you cancelled or that you want to cancel. NME uses collection agencies as a bluff but hasn't turned people over to the credit rating bureaus because they do not want the law after them. Try calling back and demanding a refund. That will work and they will leave you alone. If a collection agency calls tell them you cancelled and they will close your account. BE FIRM. In 20 years NME has never reported people to the credit rating bureaus

Also if you waited too long to cancel the first year you can still cancel years 2, 3, and 4. NME DOES NOT pay for those years until the year begins. They can cancel any later year that has not started and if the phone rep says otherwise they are lying.
