Have you purchased travel insurance only to find out when you need to use it they found a loop hole as to why you are not covered. Were you told by a travel agent or read the advertisement on their website and made to believe you would be covered if you could not travel? Below is my story, if this sounds familiar, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can see if we can file a class action to get the money they should have paid us or at least expose this fraud to help protect others from falling into the same trap. These guys are tricky as they operate under different names, but I think we can expose them all if we work together
This letter is concerning the misleading and false advertising by BerkelyCare with regards to their travel insurance program. I contacted a travel agent to discuss a trip for my husband and me to Boston. I was concerned because my husband has had a nervous disorder and has been unable to fly. I was told that I could purchase travel insurance and if my husband was unable to travel due to his illness we could get a refund for the cost of our tickets. When I purchased our tickets we included the travel insurance that was recommended. When the time came to travel my husband was unable to travel do to the nervous condition that he has suffered from. After we cancelled our flights we were told we needed to complete some insurance forms and my husband needed to get a note from his doctor.
We waited months to get our insurance claim refund and every time we contacted the insurance company they said they were waiting to hear from the doctor. We contacted our doctor and they said they had returned all of the paperwork months ago when it was requested. After going back and forth for months with the insurance company they finally said that yes they had received the information from our doctor and they were going to decline our claim because this kind of illness required hospitalization.
We would have never taken the risk of booking our tickets in advance if we were not told we could purchase travel insurance and get a refund if my husband was unable to fly. I feel that the advertising of their travel insurance was very misleading and false and it cost us almost $800, money we could not afford to lose in these difficult financial times.
