I recently retired and wanted to move from Central Oregon to the Nashville area. I wanted to save money for a down payment on my first ( and only) home, so I bypassed the major carriers. ( I will be kicking myself in the arse for the next 50 years for that mistake)....
I found Nationwide Relocation Services on the web, and an instant email , from Sean Boxer, who came off as a friendly, professional young man. His quote was way cheaper than any of the other quotes I had gotten. He assured me that he was giving me a fabulous discount, and that he would fax me a BINDING contract to lock that discount in place.

( I kept wondering how he could determine what my weight would be, without a site visit) I told him I had only packed 60 boxes so far, but he said as long as I kept my weight under 3,000 pounds, the number of boxes didn't matter.

I had 9800 pounds when the government moved me from San Diego in 2006, and I had a collection of "clutter" that I didn't need, so I began to have yard sales for the entire month of Sept. Figuring that I could use my $$ made, to replace things once I got to TN.

I had not intended to take the ugly sofa & chair, the fridge, electric stove, the washer or dryer, or my car, so the load would certainly be lighter, right?
I had to send a deposit $874.25 to "Lock in the discount". Sean had told me that he would be the only POC from NRS.

Soon after, I recieved an email from a woman who said she would be the QC on the job, ( Liisa?) and when I told her that I needed to get my propane BBQ and some other things on the list ( she did) and said I now owed an additional $649.52 towards "the deposit" ( which I was told would be applied to my moving costs). With a balance due of $1,760.86 cash or money order only.
I asked several times, what the name of the carrier would be.

Never got a response. On Sept 24th I get a call from a driver, who said that he "is lost" and cannot find my house. After giving directions 4 different times, he shows up at 10:00 pm, in the dark. When I saw the size of the unmarked truck, I said to myself, WTF? This won't hold all of my stuff.

It was the size of a medium UHaul. And it was 3/4 full already! I said, where is the 18 wheeler? The driver replied, this is all you get.

The non english speaking helper started putting green stickers on the boxes I had staged in the garage, and when I told the driver ( Zev, from Israel) my furniture was inside the house, he seemed annoyed, but came in any way.

A few stickers were placed on items, and they started moving stuff with a dolly. After 30 minutes or so, the driver came in & said " We have a problem, there is no room left in the truck". Again, I said WTF??? They had not taken any of the 3 beds, or TV or book cases ( any of the furniture!) I insisted that they take my 89 yr old fathers' bed! The two twin mattresses but not the headboard or frame...and they managed to squeeze my twin mattresses at the end...By that time I was crying, I was so damn mad.

He said I exceeded my weight limit?? HOW?????? I had gotten rid of so much stuff and NOW was being forced to leave my vintage blonde Danish dresser, my vintage 30's dropleaf table, book cases, linen cabinet ( all belonging to my late mother, very sentimental) . If I had known they wouldn't be taking that, I could have sold it at my yard sales but I wanted these items with me!!!

What had I paid an additional deposit for??? The BBQ & other things were still in my garage as well.
So the two mooks left.....

and now I am in TN waiting for my things to arrive at my son's garage..

I am told three different times that the final balance has changed. As you recall, it was originally $1,760.86. Well, some female called me from NRS ( not the quality control chick) and said I needed to have FOUR THOUSAND and eight dollars ready for the driver. OMGAWD I almost passed out. How did it get that high??

I tried calling NRS to talk to Aldo De Sorbo but was told he doesn't talk to customers. ( I was pissed)
Then I get a call from a driver, who said he was in Louisianna and had to deliver in Georgia & Mississippi, and would be delivering on Sunday.

Make sure I had Four thousand NINE hundred dollars ready...Now I am really really pissed off.

My son looked at the Better Business Bureau web and found that West Coast Van Lines had 29 complaints. And they were rated F.

I tried sending an email to Nationwide/Sean Boxer to ask him why he would hook me up with a company that is untrustworthy? Never got a reply.

Then I tried calling Ronen Elal ( President of West Coast Van Lines) again, I was prevented by telephone guard dogs and was told your HAVE to have the $$$ or you don't get your stuff.

By then I was in contact with BBB in Tennessee & Florida and filing complaints.

When the 18 wheeler arrived to deliver, it bothered me soooooo much to have to fork over $ 4,900 to this company. I asked the driver to show me the weight manifest and he claimed I had 7,000 pounds!!
Not freakin possible ( I said to myself).

So, now I see my boxes, all battered and some are open. I packed them carefully using miles of bubble wrap, shredded paper, peanuts etc....and marked FRAGILE on glass picture frames, tea pots etc...Well some idiot must have interpreted my writing as Futbol as all the boxes that had fragile on them, you could hear the broken glass moving in the boxes.

There are items that are not even there. ( As in one full box of DVD's, and my brand new DVD player, my 8MG IPOD ( brand new) my brand new Sattelite Radio unit and the retirement gifts I had received from the Forest Service.)A poster of me when I was young & used for an ad. I ws so proud of that!

I am beyond being angry.

So I am in the process of buying a home, but it will be "naked" for months until I can refurnish & replace broken or stolen possessions. Don't even ask about insurance. That's another flippin joke.

So please please please Don't Use the services of Nationwide Relocation Services or West Coast Van Lines. ( Aka Two Mooks move you) The employees appear to be undocumented aliens, so INS, are you listening??
I have never felt so damn violated before. How can a company take advantage of an old lady & an even older gentleman, and be able to sleep at night? If I could send each & every employee their own personal case of the worst incurable jungle crotch rot, I would!!

I posted the original report in 2009, now it's 2012, and I am still reading horror stories from people who are getting emotionally raped by this piss poor company. WHY ARE THEY STILL IN BUSINESS?

Even after 4 years, I have not yet replaced all of the possessions I was forced to leave behind. Not to mention what I could have done with the exorbitant, obscene amounts of money I was forced to pay. Not one time did any of the owners, managers, etc try to contact me. Too Busy in the Kibbutz????
