When I left Daytop last March to go to Bellvue Hospital (which was actually a shelter where I first started off at) and was then tranferred to 3 other shelters before this one, I thought I was somewhat comfertable when I had happen to reside there. This shelter is EQUIVALENT to majority of the shelters I've been in only thing is that it is THE WORST shelter next to a Next Step program. I had case manager who REFUSES to represent me and not do her job while other residents had a multitude of problems with her and her supervisor that they among 5 other employees were terminated in Obtober, prompting me and other residents to be re-assigned to another case manager/supervisor.

Here's why: 

For one, you can't bring your chargers, electronic devices (e.g. ipads, laptops, radios, etc.) in the residence, they sneak theif your values and sundries whenever the custodians cleans your rooms or pack you up because you broke curfew. And to put the icing on the cake, if you're getting your income whether you're working or disabled, they'll "try" to work with you but f**k you over in the proccess. 

If you're working: 

Don't ever... EVER... EEEEEVVERRRRR..... hand in your REAL paystubs. They'll take that and rumor has it, they'll cash them in and leave you with nothing. Although if you have to 60% of your income to save up and get a place, depending on which case manager who you're placed under. 

If you're DISABLED:

Be prepared to have your freedom taken away. Here's why:

They'll try to find you housing which is cool, but the fact of the matter os that you're gonna have to face the perils of what agency you're gonna be placed under. SROs are not an option. Supportive Housing is NEEDED to steer away from. It's bad enough that me personally, I am a disabled male in my 30s who is suffering depression and anxiety that they THINK that they're liable to take advantage of. They'll downtalk you in any which way possible because of your psychological instability. Let alone the fact that the food that had been carted from Brooklyn is downright TERRIBLE!!! 3 OR MORE RESIDENTS HAD ALMOST DIED DUE TO FOOD POISIONING AND HAD THE NERVE TO HAVE YOU SURVIVE OFF OF BAG LUNCHES! IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR FOOD STAMPS, YOU WON'T SURVIVE!!!

The REASON why I left is because of the constant mistreatment of every resident in there let alone me having countless visits to the hospital, Lord knows how much I owe in hospital bills because of their stupidity. So I did what I had to do though I WAS accepted into supportive housing, but why put myself through all this drama if I could cut to the chase and get a place on my own? Which I am doing now.

So long story short, If you're gonna be put in transitional housing, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO!!! 

PLEASE BE ADVISED AND BEWARE!!!
