I bought a pre-owned 2009 Nissan Sentra from a dealership with 40K miles on it.  At 64K miles, the engine blew the 3rd cylinder.  The dealership told me it required a completely new engine ($5,500 + labor) and that the warranty on the engine expired at 60K miles.  Yes, you got it - I was 4K miles over the warranty.

The dealership suggested I contact Nissan Consumer Affairs, which I did, and filed a claim.  After two weeks of the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and me having to call them twice a day and leave messages for "Rhonda, the Regional Manager," they denied the claim.  Even though I sent them service records since I owned the vehicle, they indicated that since they had no idea how the first owner maintained the car, they weren't responsible and weren't going to do anything.

I want the world to know how horrible my experience was with Nissan.  A 2009 vehicle blowing-up at only 64K miles?  Consumer Affairs not taking any responsibility for the problem and providing horrible support.  Do not buy a Nissan.

Where in the hell do you people come from???  You stated the manufacturer's warranty was OVER.  You did not say anything about getting a warranty with the used car purchase, otherwise we wouldn't be here now.  In other words YOU bought this car, without regard to the mileage, "AS IS".  Did you read the paperwork you signed?  You would have signed an agreement which stated you agreed to an "AS IS" purchase and any and all repairs are on YOU.  So what would make you think you should receive FREE SERVICE when you don't have warranty coverage????

Ah yes...its the "ENTITLEMENT MENTALITY"!
